Yeah, I'm really surprised by the amount of hand-wringing here. He's a back-up rb that didn't offer much beyond what they already had.

If Blount gets hurt, he (or somebody similar) will get a call. Can't keep everybody on the roster.
Like the new Bolden. Everyone thought Bolden was going to be great in 2012 & 2013. Although I do think Bolden can do an okay job, he probably won't be great. Might be a bit stronger these days based on his big hits on special teams.

The Jonas my Brother - haters can say what they want about him, but the fact remains:
We have NOBODY to carry the ball on Thursday night.

This just in: Jonas Gray is still >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Travaris Crapdet.

Love your way with words.

I count 4 players with "RB" next to their name.

I think there are 4 somebodies.

If this were such a monumental mistake on Belichick's part, surely one of the other 31 teams would have picked him up - if for no other reason than to get their hands on the playbook, no?

Watch Bolden drop a 120 and 2 TD's on Pitt.

I always wonder how these a holes can so the same Ron Borges song and dance every season. Belichick is easily the best coach/GM of the salary cap era and he is very likely the greatest of all time given that, yet somehow the people who are literally wrong every season about everything come chiming in about how much he sucks and how bad a job he is doing. He just won another Lombardi yet somehow he did it with a team they sh.t all over and here they are to tell us how bad a job he has done once again. You would think they would simply go away out of embarrassment but like ****roaches they just come crawling back. I guess their ignorance keeps them from realizing just how stupid they sound.

Looking forward to Dion Lewis getting some carries.

Took him two games out of his freshman year to gain more yards than Gray did in his Notre Dame career.

Oh, and he did play Notre dame that year...

He went unclaimed by 31 teams. What does that say about the Colts run defense?
Or maybe what we've seen is his ceiling. This means you can rent a guy like him any time he is needed, but he may never be anyone's long-term option. It's not just BB who likes a do all kind of back like Shane Vereen and the like. The big, bruising guy is still good for those kinds of games, but hardly necessary to win consistently in today's NFL. So if that's all you got, then you're going to have to be exceptionally good at it to stick anywhere.

Supa, I usually see your overall point even when I disagree with some of the details. Though it does not happen often, it does happen. I suppose this time is no different. I do see your overall premise, but to say Bolden is only "effective" on ST's is selling him way short. He was an absolute stud last season. I could argue his play on ST's changed whole games or at least swung momentum for the Pats. BB has often, and I mean often, talked about the importance of ST's. He never allows for that phase of the game to be a step below the other two. Therefore, and this is where you hit with pinpoint precision, "Belichick and the organization [do] hold Bolden in a higher regard than about 90% of the people on this forum." And rightfully so. I couldn't care less if he gets a single play on offense so long as he continues to play the way he has on ST's.

Yeah, I didn't mean to sell him short by only using the term "effective." That was poor wording.

As you mention, he's an absolute beast on ST.

I can't imagine anyone thought Bolden was on the bubble for a second. He's ST ace and can fill in well as a RB - - he has on several occasions. But consistently playing all 4 ST's AND fulltime RB (if no Gray and if Blount is out due to pot or injury) would be overworking Bolden and asking for trouble.

I agree with your overall point, although I think the use of the term "full time RB" may be subjective due to our RBBC system.

Belichick just went on record as saying that "Bolden was a 3 down back," so that is where I was heading with my thoughts. He caught 21 balls out of the backfield a couple of seasons ago, and has the capacity to be our lead running back when called upon.

I agree with you that he likely couldn't do that for long stretches of time, but then again--our "lead" running back will have months when they don't see more than 50-60 carries, so we may have a bit of a difference of opinion on that particular issue. Either way, he's a valuable player to have, so I'm grateful for that aspect!

Bleacher Report saying that he has an imminent workout with the Titans.

Weird. He'll get even less playing time there than he would here.

Dikembe should probably visit the Titans' fan sites.
