Was going over some things tonight and found this response from Mike's chat this week funny:

QUESTION: "What, if anything, would have to happen for Goodell to take suspension to zero games?"

Mike: "A combination of using common sense, Brady telling him he had nothing to do with anything, no knowledge of anything, and Goodell believing it would seem to be the winning "zero-game" combination."

He's been pretty adamant he thinks this is a bad move by Goodell, and he's made that clear on more than one occasion since it went down. But that little zinger made me laugh a little...although the situation remains a source of irritation from my perspective as well.

I still feel like the NFLPA and their legal team will pull something and get that potentially cut to zero. Considering they've done well against the league int he past with far worse offenses - I'd like to think they could figure out something to overturn this one.

Goodell cannot be negotiated with. Bring it to court and sink or swim there.

I don't understand why media members, even good local ones, are talking about this as if Brady and the PA are aiming to get this settled in the appeal. That isn't what they want at all! They want to expose this appeal process as the joke it is and blow the whole thing up. Brady and the PA don't want to play Goodell's game, they want to flip the board.

for starters, brady should turn over his phone. assuming there is nothing on it, thst would be a good will gesture on brady's part.

I think they're way past the phone thing at this point. But Brady's in too deep to back down in my opinion. He's really going to have to see this through. This is a guy that has overcome a lot of challenges in his career and he's definitely facing a big one now, but I could see a scenario where the NFLPA & his team eventually debunks this mess.

It's funny...with OTA's I had almost forgotten about it for a moment...crazy

It seems like Brady is the wrong guy to mess with. I believe he's a staunch backer of the union... Brady would've wanted any player to get such a ridiculous case to be able to bring this appeals system down, but he ends up getting it himself. It seems like poking a hungry shark with a stick.

The NFLPA wants to take this to court because they're not happy with the current set up, I know they agreed to it but its not working with a dictator with a God complex in charge, this is their opportunity to make some hay.

Thanks. By the way, it's really hard to find any chats or mailbag at that site, if he still has them.

Just in case someone from that network i suppose i hate anyway, cares. It's awful what they've done to Reiss's blog, just criminal.

lol. Thanks for the tip, Ian. I never would have found that chat without your mention. I shouldn't have to keep a calendar like at the office.

By the way, Reiss made a funny...

Roger Goodell (In Hiding)

Mr. Reiss,It's Roger. Is it safe to come out yet or is Patriots Nation still out for blood?

Roger, just so you're "generally aware," it's "more probable than not" that they will not welcome you here with open arms. Thanks for reaching out.

He hired Kessler about a month ago. I think if there was going to be any backing down at all it would have already happened. I feel like the pressure on Roger will significantly increase if this goes beyond the appeal process. So onto my wishful thinking: Could you imagine if Brady's legal team destroys Roger, the Wells report and the suspension in court? If they prove in court that Brady had nothing to do with the deflation and that the weather was in fact the cause of the deflation, what the hell is Roger going to then? He'll then be forced to drop the suspension and return the draft picks but will keep the million for good of the 32. Not that I thought Brady's legacy could grow any more than it is but if that happens,.....wow.

My prediction: Goodbye Roger.

goody wont let this get to court, brady is going to walk in with his lawyer, but before any sort of discussion happens, and before brady and kessler even sit down, goodell will already have the signed documents saying the suspension is cut to zero games, and he'll hand it over with his **** eating grin and whisper "the damage has already been done, and now you can't take us to court" and just like that the general public looks at goodell and says "oh see hes tough but fair", and "Kraft accepting the penalty was good for the team, see brady isn't missing any games" and "brady got off easy, shoulda been suspended for the year" But we'll know

people in new england know that the great and powerful commisioner, is really just using smoke and mirrors and he used them to **** us completely in order to give the AFC a chance at sending someone else to the AFCCG

Wow I hope that doesn't happen. It makes sense but I hope Goodell lets it get to court.

At the very least, Tom Brady has an obligation to provide absolutely nothing to this sham of an appeal hearing. if, however, he decided to go the opposite route, the most he should give up is the testimony Don Yee claims to have taken notes of which Ted Wells left out of his report. Nothing more. Goodell has wormed his way into a scenario where the national media thinks that the onus is on Brady to prove he did nothing wrong. Absolute nonsense. The onus has always been on the NFL and the best they could do was shell out 5 million dollars for that 243 sheet roll of toilet paper. Regardless, the investigation is over. The fact that Goodell is even requesting new information for this hearing is a joke.

This guy who hands down the suspension, then claims that he delegated it to Troy Vincent according to his response to a Tom Curran question; only to respond to the NFLPA's recusal request by stating that he himself handed down the punishment and that the person who wrote the letter of notice to Tom Brady is irrelevant. He then states that he will hear the appeal himself since when it comes to the Wells Report, he is not "necessarily wedded to their conclusion or to their assessment of the facts" even though he used the findings of this report to hand down the punishment!

Goodell has already stated that part of his punishment to Brady was for his "lack of co-operation." Yee's notes should rip that claim to shreds. If Goodell, as the arbitrator, claims those notes are insufficient in overturning the suspension, then he's truly in for a rude awakening. He won't get to Brady's cell phone and has no legal right to it. Should he decide not to overturn the suspension, I don't see how Kessler doesn't prove in Federal Court that Goodell abused his powers, showed bias, and did not consider the new information he himself asked for.

That's why I hope to see the NFLPA make a move soon. They have to before Goodell's Kangaroo Court BS. Force the arbitration to be neutral.

I would be downright optimistic about going forward in the hopes of salvaging our reputation if Bob Kraft didn't fu.cking sell us all down the river and accept all the allegations leveled against us without once little bit of fighting. Because in the end, it doesn't matter if Brady gets exonerated. The stain will remain on this team forever due to us having accepted the harshest punishment in league history. And it will remain on Brady forever through association.

I just cannot get past how awful Kraft is.

This post is awful man..

it's the only way goodell will reduce the suspension to zero on his own, short of going to court and getting some judge to overturn it. i know brady has a right to not turn his phone over under the CBA, but this is how goodell operates. you guys can disagree all you want but it's the way it is unfortunately. goodell isn't going to listen to some ideal gas law stuff. i wouldn't be surprised if goodell is looking for a way out, but he needs to sell something to the public.

Maybe he should take off his pants and bend over too. You know, goodwill and all.

it's the way goodell operates. he doesn't care for physics. the only equation he understands is no cell phone = guilty. that is how his simple mind works. this is why he is asking for more evidence of non guilt- if he is looking for a way out of this he has to sell something to the public.
