Brady is 37 and Garoppolo is 23. If Garoppolo plays really well and the Pats don't think they'd likely be able to draft another one like him, the team really would need to ask themselves some tough questions. I'm the biggest Brady fan out there, but reality is reality.

Why would they need to draft another? I think it's pretty clear that if the 2 QBs are even close after the 2017 season, Garoppolo gets the contract and Brady is gone. Until then, it would be nearly impossible for Jimmy to supplant Brady. No tough decisions for a while unless something drastic occurs. At least that's how I see it.I don't know why everyone jokes about this. Brady is 37 and Garoppolo is 23. A bit under 3 years, right? Aren't both guys signed through 2017, making the decision time early 2018?The Patriots arguably face the biggest decision since "What do we do with Bledsoe?" in a bit under two years from now. Everyone involved on the player side (Brady, his agent Yee, and Yee's other client Garoppolo) has an interest in making that decision as excruciating as possible.

If they're OK with letting Garoppolo walk instead of using him as trade bait.
I love Brady, but if they trade away a promising 26 year-old QB to stick with a 41 year-old QB, that's a poor decision in my book. Sentimentality will kill you as a GM in the NFL. Of course, Jimmy could end up looking like crap the next few years and make this a moot point. I'm just glad they have a few overlap years to figure this out.If they're OK with letting Garoppolo walk instead of using him as trade bait.
Jimmy G could barely complete a pass last year in practice (He was frequently 0-2/11) so it's nice to see his in game play carried over today.

Well i'm sure some chicken little will do you the secondary he was throwing against was vastly better last year. Which then you ask yourself why did Brady go 18 for 29?
I think you have to take not only their performance, but also how they're trending. When there's a 14 year age gap, it isn't just about who's better in the present. You keep the winner, until he can't win anymore. "Better a year early" doesn't, or at least shouldn't, apply to the QB position, unless you've got a HOFer as a backup.
That's been proven true about a gazillion times in the NFL.

So you would've started Favre over Rodgers in 2008? Favre had a strong 2007 and Rodgers had never started a game.No.
Again, NFL history proves it.
