Maybe pick an OG tomorrow? No?
They will at some point, but the cupboard is really bare there. Wendell is not a good starter and the left side is currently unmanned other than possibly Kline or Fleming

6'2'' 320 lbs

Strengths

Showed great improvement during 2014 season and is considered a "riser" on draft boards by league scouts. Good bend in his hips to play low off the snap. Athletic big man who improved his quickness this year. Began to impose his will more frequently late in the season. Excels once he reaches a lineman's edge. Flashes power and control in his hands. Discards blockers when ready as a read-and-react defender and uses a punch to keep himself clean and scrape down the line after ball carriers. Eyes stay glued on ball carrier no matter what battle is in front of him. Can recover and improve positioning if he is losing early in snap. Light on his feet and diagnoses very quickly. Hard defender for offensive linemen to cross-face. Too athletic and talented to consistently single block.
Weaknesses
Despite size and frame, not consistently physical at the point of attack. Has average power in his lower body and struggles to hold his ground against double teams. Looking for secondary motor as rusher. Effort level stalls when his pass rush stalls. Is in need of a more polished counter move as a pass rusher. Would benefit from improved strength and ability to vary game from penetration to power. Plays hard but scouts do not consider him a "glass-eater."

Bottom Line
Penetrating big man who took a huge step forward as an NFL prospect in 2014. Brown has hand quickness and uses hands like an NFL starter. His instincts and feel off the snap help him to get into the backfield quickly. Some personnel men believe Brown can play multiple spots along the line in a 4-3 or 3-4 defense, which could put him in play for a high number of teams.

Still confused about wtf we're doing at guard.

I was watching golf. Is the draft over? I thought the second and third rounds were tomorrow?

There seemed to be big run on first round Guards. I can't imagine there was anyone left at that position worth taking at 32.

Still getting over how I was waiting to see what we got from Houston in the trade down and now we have Brown. Glad to have him on the team.

The more I read on this guy, the more psyched I get!

Here's a short clip to get your blood pumping!

Malcolm Brown Jr. DT #90 Highlights

BB's prototypical, versatile, smart, passionate, nightmare of a match-up football player.

What a steal, I didn't want a DT with out 1st again but you can't pass a guy like him, also DT was kind of a need, not my prefered need, but still a need.

Now we will have 2 guys creating havoc in the middle and CJones and Nink on the edges, great.

Love what I am reading about him. Seems like a Wilfork/Seymour hybrid.

Ya, just odd that thru the meat of FA and the first round, they've done nothing to improve the position. Hopefully they have another Stork up their sleeve. I do like Brown

I will be honest. I am not as high on this pick as some people. I wasn't really for taking a DT in the first round this draft. I liked some guys okay (Brown, Goldman, Grady, Hardison) but thought they were all pretty close and thought the better move would be take the last one that is left.

I do think Brown was probably the best of the bunch though I don't see perennial pro bowl upside here the way i do with a few other options. However he is NFL ready and can come in day 1 and start unlike some other guys. Probably one of the safest prospects in the draft at this point which good.

Maybe he will prove me wrong and exceed my expectations and be something really special. I hope he does. He is only 20 and had by far his best year last year. Maybe his ceiling will prove higher than i think. Would not be the first time I am wrong nor the last.

Overall though you address a need and got what is likely the best player you could hope to get for it. Overall a success I'd say.

Now for CB in round 2 I hope.

looks special

omfg i was dying on the Colts board.. they were BEGGING for Grigson to move up and grab Malcom Brown..

I turned to my Fiance as the colts pick was about to be made and said "Watch.. they'll get ANOTHER weapon for Andrew Luck to chase MVP trophies and stats"

Sure enough, they pick a WR on an already loaded offense...

unreal lol! Andrew Luck will lead the league in passing yards and TDs again, but they'll get the doors blown off of them in the playoffs because they're still soft on defense

No Corner is going to be NFL-ready .... so I'd take a Guard over a CB in the 2nd round

Not only a WR, but a guy whose ceiling is literally a guy they already have on their team.

I was so disappointed when Byron Jones finally was snagged by the Cowboys, but I'll take the Brown pick.

The Colts basically traded the #27 pick to New England with the biggest blunder of the draft. Brown crushing Luck in the first game has to happen.
