Goodell: ‘Understanding’ is Wells has 'finished interview portion'’ of Deflategate report

I previously thought there was 0 chance that any of this stuff gets released before the draft, but with the tampering wrapping up, and Goodell intimating Wells report is coming soon - maybe they want to tidy everything up before Thursday? I don't know. Maybe I should know better. I just want to read the damn report.

Seriously lets analyze the quote:

Goodell: Well, I think it's hard because you wanna make sure you have all the information. It's not just...
Attempted justification for why the investigation has taken so long. They are being as through as possible because they cannot find any evidence of guilt and also because the investigation has shifted onto the league.

Rose: It's one game, one ball.

Goodell: The question is, one of the things that he would be asked to look for is, was it just one game?

What I already said.

Rose: Is there any suspicion that it wasn't one game?

Goodell: There's no suspicion of anything. What we're trying to do is just make sure we're thorough. The most important thing here is, was there a violation of the rules? And if so, how did that occur?

Uncommitted vague answer, one that actually tries deflect blame from himself for this joke of an investigation. "No suspicion of anything... trying to do... was there..."

There is nothing to worry about from what he said.

Why does he say "Patriots not fined."

Does that relate to defaltegate?

He is talking about the stupid tampering charges that the Jets filed against the Pats.

Ah right, those were so dumb I forgot about them. Thanks.

After the Rats skated on the Revis tampering I'm less confident there will be any compensation to the Pats for what the league put them through.

The best we'll get is no punishment.

I'm liking the NFL less and less.

Maybe Goodell figured that he is going to have to award the Pats the Colts' entire 2016 draft for setting them up in Deflategate and he was worried that giving them Jets' picks would be piling on.:)

I've always been content to settle for an apology and for the guilty people in the league to be named and shamed.

First, it appears the league believed it could “catch” the Patriots with underinflated footballs. But it seems as if the evidence (recorded measurements prior to the game, at halftime and setting those balls aside) didn’t happen. So the league needs somebody with the Patriots to sing. Which is why they’ve been through Gillette Stadium more than once interviewing all ball-touchers.

All’s not lost if the league can’t get that, though. Goodell’s acknowledgment that the investigation will stretch back into prior games (perhaps prior seasons?) and the initial statement saying “cooperation from other clubs” would be sought means that anecdotal evidence is going to be in play.

So if the Ravens, Steelers, Jets or Bills want to ring up Park Avenue and say, “Hey, we thought they had soft balls in November of 2010…” that information will find a friendly ear.

after seeing the punishment for the tampering, I am now convinced the league is going to ban Bill Bellichick, and force kraft to sell the team, as well as stripping every superbowl and Conference championship the patriots have won.

Heh, ball-touchers.

The NFL league office is a f.cking joke. I don't think it's possible for the league to find the Patriots guilty of tampering with game balls because I don't believe they have ever done so, however the fact that they have gone on a retroactive witch hunt to try and find any shred of wrongdoing by them demonstrates once again just how biased the league office is against them and how desperately the league office needs to be purged of every person in positions of power within it. And ironic as it may be as much as the Patriots are hated around the league getting rid of Roger Goodell is one thing that pretty much every fan base can agree on. According to Goodell every thing the league does is done to give the fans what they want, I wonder how he will feel when he is fired to accomplish that very goal?

Sure, but why is Goodell still talking about "was it for just one game." It clearly implies he thought we are/were guilty.

Why do you gotta stress me out like that!

I don't agree with Curran's take here. I usually see eye to eye with him but he seems hellbent on his theory that the NFL is going to continue to look indefinitely for any minor discrepancy about anything over the past 10 years. I really don't think that is what is at play here. Not only would Kraft never stand for that since it flies in the face of his public demand for a timely and impartial investigation but Curran is still ignoring the repeated whispers that the investigation has shifted over to the league, and that's the explanation for the delay. If the NFL had anything definitive on the Pats we would have been punished in January. But they didn't so they looked back further for something. If they had found anything there we would have been punished in Febuary. But they didn't so they had to finally look at other explanations. And here we are in April and they probably have it and it doesn't involve the Patriots.

Goodell just said himself that they will be looking under every rock on the East Coast for something to pin on the Patriots. Kraft isn't going to do anything. Do you remember cameragate?

Do you remember how Kraft and Belicick stood by and took camera gate up the ass because they didn't realize the anti-Pats agenda that was about to be unleashed against them? Remember how they've done the exact opposite in this case with public demands for an explanation, and exoneration?

Kraft thinks Belichick is a real schmuck. All I know.

Should have started a poll: Which comes first?
  • New Horizons arrives at Pluto in mid-July
  • Release of the Wells report
  • New Horizons leaves the Solar System (Heliopause) in 2043

I'm not worried about what they will find because I don't believe there is anything to find but the fact that Goodell has authorized Wells to go on a witch hunt is absolutely disgraceful and to me says it is time for Kraft to stop supporting Goodell and start looking for his replacement. I also think it's time for Patriot fans to make it 100% clear that we want Goodell and Kensil gone and see continued support of them as offensive to us as Patriot fans and a betrayal to us.

Kraft needs to decide whose side he is on, that of Patriot fans or that of the league office.

I toatlly agree with you Ivan and wonder why we don't hear of any supportfor Bob Kraft from the other 31 owners. Afterall, he is one of the 32 people that own the NFL and why can't he tell Goodell where to stick his opinions/fines and other BS that comes out of his piehole?

I don't know what the NFL owners bylaws are but if I'm BK I'd be looking for some change. No way in hell would I let that little c********* smear and slander my business the way he has been.

Can we Patsfans create a class-action law suit against that nit-wit?
