Never bought into the ****ty of Boston sports culture. The troglodytes eschewed if not despised the Bill Russell Celtics (Russell is black!) and worshiped the non-performing Red Sox while sabotaging Bob (He's a Jew!!) Kraft from building a Patriots stadium in Boston. A Big GFY to the Boston sports culture.

I for one am grateful that it's the New England Patriots and not the Boston Patriots.

Im 1,000,000,000% behind you on this PWP

Good post.

Boston's history with racism is one of the reasons why I used to avoid baseball.... some of the things that were allowed back then still disturb me :(

Would you say things have improved?

The most historic and famous Boston team is the Celtics.

It depends. If we're talking about the most famous/historic Boston team for the rest of the country, then I'd agree (The Celtic's seventeen championships are the most for any NBA franchise, and account for 25.4% of all NBA championships.) But if it's the the most famous Boston team to Bostonians themselves....it becomes much more debatable. Red Sox have deep deep roots here. The intensity goes back generations - over a hundred years! -and still resonates nowadays, despite baseball's lower numbers/sales/popularity vs. the NFL.

Boston and St. Louis are easily the 2 most devoted baseball towns in the country (Chicago and NY might be the third- or fourth-most) . The only thing that separates the two cities is that St. Louis has not nearly enjoyed the same degree of success in other pro sports, and so loyalties and allegiances focus mainly on baseball. Boston is obviously, a different story. We are a very lucky town indeed!

Well yea, the Sox have been around since what the 1800's. They have a longer history, but historically Celtics crap on any other Boston team. They have more championships then both the Sox and Pats combined, and you can literally spend all day debating whos the 10 greatest Celtics player of all time. Just like New Yorkers do with Yankees.

The fact that the birthplace of basketball and the Pro basketball HOF in the state, and one of the most historic American sports team is the Celtics, Boston should be a Celtics town, but its not.

Brady's favorite receiver is the one who is open.

Boston's favorite team is the one holding the trophy.

All good points. The bias towards baseball has always been enormous (racial element maybe??) but I think that's quickly been changing, especially for my generation (Millennials).

Well its no coincidence that Boston used to be a baseball and hockey town, but yes times have definitely changed around here, especially when around that time the Celtics were always winning.

Yes, things have improved. Boston is a different place today.

Makes me wonder if Russ and company even celebrated after like the 5th or 6th title or so. Probably just went home and went to bed. Another day in the office. I kinda wish I was born in the 60's to see that run, sooooo soooo many close game 7's it really is amazing they ended up with 11 titles considering how close it got numerous times they won a title on a game 7 double OT game I believe by like a point.

Actually I believe the most successful sports franchise of all time in all sports is the Celts. I believe that they have won the most world championships compared to how many championship seasons there were to win.

Yea i can see that. Maybe Montreal with Stanley Cups?

I am a die hard fan of both teams. But it has to be remembered that the Red Sox will celebrate Patriots Day at Fenway on April 19 but you won't see a Red Sox Day in Foxborough any time soon. :)

Yeah I'm ashamed by what they did to Russell. Glad they've made things right (well tried to...) with him in recent years and he's embraced the city and returned. Wouldn't have blamed him one bit if he never wanted to come back here.

Were you born yesterday? The Bears OWN Chicago, always have. Boston used to be a baseball town but the Patriots specifically and NFL in general eclipsed that years ago. The only city where baseball trumps football is St. Louis. Everywhere else the NFL rules by wide margins.

Yo, coke bottle glasses. I stated the Bears are big, but Chicago is a 2 baseball team town. Don't tell me its not a baseball town. Cubs fans haven't won jack in ages. Disagree about Boston. Boston is a Red Sox town and the Pats are regionally bigger.

Disagree on STL being the only big MLB draw. Atlanta is definitely is NOT a football town. Ive lived there and went to training camp one year. What a joke. Easily bought tickets to the Pats vs Falcons the day of the game.

Boston is a Red Sox town

Based on what? Your guess? Because ratings and stats sure as hell won't agree with you

Chi has 2 baseball teams and 1 football team...Bears again draws a larger crowd as they are pulling from both baseball team areas.

When I was a tiny kid the first major league sports games that my Dad took me to were baseball games. As a teen I myself went to Celtics games to see Cous and Big Russ, and then Pats games and bought season tickets till I moved away from New England.

It was only on a return visit that I finally went to Fenway Park and saw the swing-for-the fences, flyball-out, Red Sox.

Dad's team was the Boston Braves where they played proper "small ball", hit-and run, steal- a-base, and squeeze-a-run-home, real baseball. "Sphann and Sain and a day of rain..." So baseball was my first love but not Red Sox baseball...

The Red Sox management finally decided to win a championship, every century or so, and actually built a team and won with pitching and "small ball", a few times recently. That's what , I'm given to understand, before reverting to swing-for-the-fences and last place.

Watching Celtics and Red Sox simultaneously!

Boy, does it feel good to root for New England

Baseball does get a little repetitive and drawn out..... any ideas on how to make it more enjoyable to watch?

(mostly watching C's at this point. They're bringing a lot of energy to the game!)

CELTICS WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because of this thread I tuned in late to the Bankofamericasox vs. Capitalonefinancialyankees tonight. It was the top of the 10th, tied 3-3. The announcers sounded bored. The sparse crowd looked really bored. I lasted one-third of one-half inning before changing the channel. (Yawn.)
