ESPN: 11 of 12 footballs under inflated by 2 pounds of air.

Still roughly the same difference in temperature if the balls were checked inside in a 70+ degree room. Then add in they had been outside for at least a few hours. A 1.5-2 drop in PSI isnt't crazy.

I wonder who has the two Colts balls that were INT. If those also show a drop....well...

But I guess too late to check for them.

You're right. The point is that you just want something to gripe about and some way of trying to discredit the Patriots' success. That's the point.

So, you're getting mad at other people because the patriots themselves may have broken the rules again? By the way, I'm a patriots fan and I'm pissed that I have to deal with this BS again. The difference is, I'm not blaming the haters or the league IF the patriots themselves broke the rules. That is their own idiotic fault, IF THIS IS TRUE.

Probably two NFL investigators at the Patriots offices were talking to each other and one said:

"Guess what, I ran into the room and saw #11 squeezing #12 balls, #12 said his wife would be really disappointed, angry and upset if she found out..."

Mort's source trying to listen through a keyhole thus heard:

"11 out of 12 balls were deflated, etc."

Good excuse, No?

I was upset when this first broke out, but it's refreshing to see many players and coaches discount this as anything significant. Patriots haters will have a little more ammunition now.. big whoop. Any level-headed person will see this as a non-issue.

the dilemma is that they never checked the colts ball.....what if they were all low?

Wouldn't make a difference. If that was the case, a ball inflated at Lambeau Field, would have dropped half its pressure at those temperatures they have up there.

Yes it would. They could of filled them up outside, instead the pats do it in a hot room. It would most certainly make a different.

This day is so painful… I live deadsmack in the middle of Jets/Giants land… This day in the office has been intolerable… All I hear is ‘Deflateriots’ all day long.. SMH. The only thing I have to say is they better win this superbowl

Doubt they stand in that freezing outdoors ****hole, going through 24 balls. Regardless, 50 degree weather is immaterial

It's so hilarious that the refs didn't notice anything handling the footballs in the 1st half yet some colts employee noticed it within a few minutes.

I think the Colts knew Brady liked the balls at 10 PSI, there is no way a linebacker in the heat of the game noticed a difference. I did an experiment with my own NFL ball and filled it to 13 PSI, checked the size and firmness. Then I let the air out until 10 PSI and right after feeling the 13 PSI ball checked the 10 PSI ball, and the difference was barely noticeable. This is why the refs didn't notice. They (the Colts) knew in advance that they could check the balls and they would be deflated. If you listen carefully to what Phil Simms said when talking about Rodgers' preference, he states "most guys like them softer" this tells me that this is not only commonplace but the M.O. around the league for QB's. I will say that I am a Patriots homer, but I've coached youth football and we manipulate the balls that we use on offense, in that there are certain makes the QB's and receivers prefer etc. I was always under the impression that we supplied our own balls for this reason. Obviously in the NFL there are stricter guidelines, but it's kind of the culture of football that every skill player is brought up with that you can get the balls to your liking as long as you don't go crazy, and so can the other team. Unless there spineless *****es!

Allegedly the Colts complained about this after the first game.

Wouldn't the ball boys have been Indy guys? This speaks to the idea of the Pats using warm air to fill the balls rather than any active "deflating" during the game.
