I usually don't comment on draft classes until the third year after since the jump from college to the pros is enormous for these kids, athletically and emotionally. That said, the 2014 draft looks good halfway through year #1. Garoppolo (2nd) is the best backup QB in his first year of anyone in the Belichick-Brady era, Stork, Easley, Fleming, Moore, Jonas Gray (UDFA) and White look solid for where each was drafted. Halapio (6th), Jamea Thomas (6th) and WR Gallon (7th) were the only misses.
Other off-season moves that produced returns include Wilfork re-signing, Edelman re-signing, LaFell, Browner and Revis veteran signings, Mankins for Wright and 4th rounder in combination with the Wendell re-signing, DeGuglielmo in for the retiring Scarnecchia, and unloading Ryan Mallett to go with two QBs.
Allowing Blount to leave as a free agent was one I didn't like, but we all fell in love with two huge games of production in bad weather. Let's see what Jonas Gray can do in the snow and rain behind the re-constituted offensive line before we pass judgment. Blount's value increased with Ridley's injury.
Looks like GM Bill Belichick caught up with Head Coach Bill Belichick.
