I would have drafted one of these players:
- C.J. Fiedorowicz
- Gabe Jackson
- Tre Mason
- Marcus Martin
I think the CJF would have helped immediately and filled the need we have for a blocking TE but he could also be a threat in the passing game.
For me I was never choosing between Manziel or Garoppolo. I think having to choose between Derek Carr or JImmy Garoppolo would have been a tougher choice. Both fit our style of offense really well with their fast release.
That's not really entirely accurate. When the Patriots selected Garoppolo, Carr was long gone. If you're arguing that the Patriots could have selected Carr in round 1, then you have to say they took Easley over Carr, not Garoppolo over Carr. You don't have to wait for the teacher to grade your prediction. Belichick had the choice of both and chose Polo over Carr.
I think Fleming make a better G than Gabe; Stork is a better C than Martin who is already gone for at least half a season. CJ Fedorowicz is a non-entity more comparable to Hoomanawanui than Gronk, and was elevated by the poor TE draft class.
I have no idea about Mason.
You have determined he is a JAG before his first career game? That's like a Houston fan saying Garopollo is a JAG.Fiedorowicz is a jag, and according to Reiss, he did horribly when the Pats had him in for an interview.
No he had the choice of Easley or Carr and chose Easley. Garopollo went almost a full round after Carr. You don't have to wait for the teacher to grade your prediction. Belichick had the choice of both and chose Polo over Carr.
Why would Fleming be a Guard?

Do you have a link for Reiss saying Feidorowicz did horrible, because I invested as much time into the draft process as anyone who uses this board and I never saw anything like that by Reiss or anyone else.
Huh? Stork is not back first off, second just being able to play more games in a season does not make a player easily a better choice. Martin was graded as a late first or second round talent predraft. Stork was graded as fourth round talent as his best grade and many big boards had him graded as an seventh round-UDFA. Come on be a little objective here. Stork has done nothing, he struggled in OTA and early camp before getting injured, if he was not the #105 pick in this past draft he would not even make the team.Martin is gone for at least half a season. Stork is back. Once again an easy choice.

Nope, but I remember reading it quite clearly. It might have been mentioned in his chats as well. I wouldn't really know how to try finding it now. He mentioned two tight ends...the other might have been Amaro, and said his sense was that the Pats wouldn't have touched either of them.'
As for being a jag, it's possible he might surprise me. My opinion is based on looking at some tape of him and the scouting reports. But hell, I thought Stephen Hill was going to be a good NFL WR.
That really depends, there is a chance in my opinion that Garopollo follows the same path as Ryan Mallett and spends 3-4 years (trade of UFA) behind Brady barely taking a snap before moving on to another team for a chance to start. I expect Brady to restructure his contract after this season and sign through 2020, which will give him 20 NFL seasons. That is just a personal prediction with nothing to support it but I would not expect the team to give Garopollo a second contract if that did come to fruition.I see a lot of people retrospectively drafting Fiedorowicz in the 2nd, now that we know he was off the board soon after. But before the draft nobody considered him a 2nd-round caliber player -- we all would have screamed "reach"! In fact, for a long time the refrain was "I'd rather have Fiedorowicz in the 5th than (NameYourTE) in the 2nd."
I think of it this way: if Brady stays healthy, Garoppolo will make little difference to the Pats this year. And if Gronk stays health, Fiedorowicz would make little difference to the Pats this year. But in the long run, I'm betting on Garoppolo to be the more valuable player.

Martin was graded as a late first or second round talent predraft.
