Ya McCourty sucked in that Indy game..but besides that he was the glue back there...always has been

Precisely!

Has Brady ever had a bad game? I assume no since he is what like top 3 in the leauge and one of the GOATS?

Actually he was ranked as the number 3 safety as this thread clearly states. And by the way the more you keep giving us your opinions the more ignorant you look....Still, its probably better than posting some fake GOV, Secret Service, SWAT team accomplishments on the web to strangers.

Your move.

He was listed on NFL Networks top 100 players that is voted on by the players? Heard a media guy complaining only three pats players were listed, Brady, Mankins, and Gronk. No McCourty! Well feeling is clearly mutual, no love lost bud! You don't like me I clearly don't like you, lets just leave it to the topic, agreed!

Who voted him an all-pro last year?

I was asking about top 100 on NFL Network, I have not the slightest clue who got voted all pro for anything position. Wasn't Seabass voted all pro one year.

I saw the list. Here are the safeties on the NFL top 100

Reed, Thomas, Pollard, Polamalu, Goldson,

They are taking into consideration entire careers not who is better today. How can Reed be better than DMC if he is pretty much done. Pollard and Polamalu are strong safeties and still the asnwer is no.

Career, yes, today no.

Are you saying Vollmer was not worthy of an all-pro vote? Wow! Please stop, I mean you really keep digging deeper and deeper into stupidity.

And you're trying to say what with this? Vollmer isn't good? He most certainly played at an All-Pro level in 2010.

Big leap there bud, so I ask you a question and you somehow got out of that Vollmer was not worthy of an all-pro vote. Lets go back to basics here, was Vollmer voted all pro? Low hanging fruit either yes or no?

Yep, and according to you its not much of an accomplishment....even he did it. lol

It is what it is, a question. Nothing more nothing less, at least you asked instead of jumping to some odd conclusion.

Yeah, that's a mighty telling list, with the husk of Ed Reed leading the parade. Reed's a first-ballot hall-of-famer, but I can't imagine any team in the NFL would take him over McCourty today.

Meanwhile players like Goldson make the kind of splashy plays that some in this thread seem to hang their hats on -- but they take the "safety" out of the safety position. They gamble, they guess, they go for the big hit or go INT-or-bust. I'll take Devin for this defense.

Living down in Tampa I get to see Goldson play a lot and I would much much rather have DM back there than him. He takes way too many risks, makes way too many stupid plays, and gets a ton of penalties. Another great Mark Domanik move.

So are you trying to imply that making the top 100 on NFL network is more of an accomplishment than being an all pro?

The only safety that I'll take ahead of McCourty right now is Earl Thomas. Give me a Safety that as the range to take away the deep ball, and can move to CB in a pinch.

Reading this thread has killed a couple of my brain cells. It's crazy.

Im not a Homer and refuse to participate in the Dmac ***********.
That is right because only homers think he is an elite safety.

IMO it's Thomas** and then a nice, juicy argument. :) I think there's a strong case for Byrd, Berry and some others being "better" than McCourty, but there are many styles of safeties. McCourty is right near the top of the kind of player I'd want to plug into this defense, and it's a kind of player that's incredibly hard to find. I'd be inclined to pay him his $7+ million/year and be glad to have the opportunity.

**Since we're talking arguments :p, Thomas has a heck of a lot of talent around him in that Seattle defense. Notice how the All-Pro 49ers safety the Bucs shelled out for was suddenly an "up-and-down" player in the Tampa defense?

It isn't only homers who think he's top FS. That's the point.
