My only problem with this pick is that he's barely over .500 as a starter in the FCS. Can he win in the NFL?
Ya, that is my worry too.

Every year is the deepest draft in years.
That's why I said supposedly, but that doesn't change the fact that this year's team has not improved through three rounds of the draft,

Well if it is the deepest draft in years, we should improve over the next 4 rounds.
Unique strategy. Use the bottom of the draft to improve, and use the top three rounds for a back up QB and dual knee-braced recovery project. Now starting in week week 4 at DT for the NEP - Joe Velano.
Jamie Collins played for an 0-for Southern Miss team.

Why the hell would Joe Vellano have to start at DT in week 4?
As a matter of fact, I doubt myself that Vellano even makes the team again. He served his purpose when there weren't any other options, but the talent should be improved enough with the return of Kelly, Wilfork, and Armstead.
I added a edit to my views on our 1. I am worried about Easley. I am honestly am not a fan in general of this draft. With the influx of juniors, there is a lot of projects. We will see, like I said I am not to happy with us taking a QB with a second round pick. But I also did not see many impact players that we could have taken either.
Only time will tell, and i understand the frustration with our picks so far. As I am a bit frustrated too.
Three guys coming off injury-riddled seasons to mentor a rookie coming off an injury-riddled college career.
There aren't nearly as many obvious, glaring weaknesses as we seem to think, and the choice of Garappolo was too good to pass up. The backup/potential future QB position is extremely important. It's not just all about "2014."
It seems as though Belichick views the draft as a bit of a luxury, due to our having most of the starters under contract through past drafts and other avenues. I would imagine that we'll see some day #3 picks at OL, front seven, and "bonus" selections such as RB/S/WR/etc.
The only thing that I'm a bit disappointed in would be the lack of a TE, but that could be addressed tomorrow with Arthur Lynch (hopefully).
Both Easley and Garappalo are most likely future prospects. Belichick plans ahead on a consistent enough basis that we really shouldn't be quite as surprised as we are. This team is built to stay competitive in the future, and Kraft/BB have always kept a close eye on the future.
The selection of Easley allows us to have the all important 5th yr option, so even if he only contributes on a bit of a rotational role in 2014, he will likely still have 4 more solid years after that.
You don't get "luxury" picks when you had your ass handed to you in the playoffs.
Actually has a quick release, but not a strong arm. If you're looking for 60 yard bombs, you're gonna see a lot of under throws.
Brady will show him how to do it. /sarc off
Okay, but that still doesn't answer the question about Joe Vellano. I am surprised that you see him even making the team.
Out of those "3 injury riddled seasons," you don't see ANY of them able to contribute this year?
I'm assuming that Easley won't make much of a contribution until at least Nov or so. It's quite possible that I am wrong, but I see him being slowly blended into a rotational role once he's fully healthy. It was much more of a pick for the future than this year.
