NFL Schedule Release Date???

I'll be shocked if opening night isn't San Fran @ Seattle.

It's Packers at Seattle

I like the pats schedule. Some decent teams..but nothing that looks like a "tough" year. But teams do change

Other than a couple of games, or an overloaded (i.e. too many tough games grouped together) schedule, both issues which can be railed about for a long time after tonight, this is a non-event that people are being suckered into caring about. The day that the opponents are all listed is much more important, overall, and that's formulaic.

Spoken like a guy who never goes to games. Those of us who do, however, like knowing as far in advance as possible.

I go to 5+ games a year..i don't care or make a big deal about the schedule coming out like most people do. Could come out a month before the season..i couldn't careless

Outside of the snark, I gotta agree here Deus. I have an abundance of vacation time built up and have a deadline to either pick days to use them or sell them back to the company so it's a big deal for me at least. The schedule coming out gives me time to plan road trips with friends to the games we can all agree on seeing. But that's just my situation.

Yes, but the issue with that is the flex scheduling. The NFL can now change when you thought a game was going to take place and potentially ruin travel plans.

No snark was intended. I give the NFL credit for the league's ability to take non-events (and relative non-events) and make them meaningful in the minds of the customers. This is the equivalent of the NBA holding a draft lottery before the draft, but even more so. It's taking something that needs nothing more than a simple, short press release, and making it into a 2 hour ESPN event.

Hell, with today's flex scheduling (hat tip Dales), this isn't even about something that's set in stone.

They can change times but not days, so it won't affect travel plans - except for the morons who schedule plane travel on the same day as the game.

Like 99.99% of fans, I don't travel on an airplane on the actual day of the game. The only thing the flex schedule does is maybe give me a short Sunday night of sleep.

Perhaps, but some people I'm sure travel to an away game (maybe Miami) and plan to catch a flight back after the game ends. If the time of the game changes the week before the game, they'll need to find a new flight. I don't think those people are morons, personally.

I don't mind it as much. It's extensive football talk that's in the dead of the offseason. If the Heat game weren't on, I'd be watching that.

This is true. That's the reason why I'm looking at games at the beginning toward the middle of the season.

I guess we have to agree to disagree. IMHO, anyone that plans on going from a jam packed football stadium to an airport to catch a same day flight - especially knowing that the NFL changes times of games regularly - is pretty idiotic... and I simply do not believe there are more than a tiny handful of people who do that on any given Sunday.

That's fine. I know I've heard in more than one year about many Patriots fans catching the flight back to Boston along with the beat reporters or radio guys after the game. I've heard it talked about on sports radio the following week. There is something to be said about planning for flex scheduling now that it's in place but it doesn't change the fact that it's added a potential inconvenience to travel plans for some.

I don't give 2 sh*ts about the beat reporters or radio guys. If they have to spend a night on the road for work, then welcome to the club.

I simply refuse to believe there is anything more than a miniscule amount of fans who travel on the same day as the game - if there are any at all - and I have zero sympathy for people who are so short sighted as to schedule a flight when the game might be pushed back to later in the day.

Well, looks like another great bye week. Happy about that. That's a tough stretch right before and after it, though, it seems.

Really weird prime time games, Bengals over Packers/Broncos, really?

I'm making the point that plenty of Patriots fans have traveled back with those guys after the games which you said doesn't happen. Those reporters or radio guys have simply mentioned it the week after is what I'm saying. I get you think it shouldn't be a problem but it can definitely be for people who plan well in advance.

first 3 of 4 on the road. We will get to see Browner a lot a home then!

Per Google maps, #Patriots must travel 10,026 miles in 2014 regular season. Had 7,130 miles on 2013 regular-season slate."
