So Michael Sam Is Gay, Who Cares? Can He Rush The QB?

In general terms, practice safe sex, use common sense etc I imagine. I don't know, my kids are both under 10 so I'm really not sure how ill approach that.

What if your gay son came home from school, crying, telling you he got busted for having gay sex and was told in no uncertain terms that what he was doing was "unnatural" to him. He then asks you if that is really true that it's "unnatural."

How would you answer him?

I have no idea what PP2 relationship with his parents was but i see your thinly vieled attempt to call him gay, real funny.
I have no idea if PP2 is straight or gay, and I don't care. It seems to me his posts are in support of treating people properly not just supporting gays.

Frankly I would expect nothing less from a bigot.

They do not think it is possible for people to think in a way different than they do.

So the fact that I see nothing wrong with gay people and believe that it is none of my business to judge whether they do is natural or not natural, is therefore an alien way of thinking to him. That kind of different thinking cannot exist for him, so the only possible outcome for him in his inflexible universe is that I must be gay.

What if your gay son came home from school, crying, telling you he got busted for having gay sex and was told in no uncertain terms that what he was doing was "sinful" and "unnatural" to him. He then asks you if that is really true that it's "sinful" or "unnatural."

How would you answer him?

I would ask "what the hell are you doing having sex in school?" I'm not a religious person so I would say dismiss the sinful comment, those guys are nuts. And the unnatural comment, well I guess ill pm you and Andy and how you guys answered those questions when your gay sons asked you that question.

Again your son has asked you if it is really true that it is "unnatural" as he has been told that when he was busted.

Why won't you answer that question directly?

I did. You will receive a PM since you seem to have dealt with this personally.

For the record, I think you have bigotted views on this topic, but do not know whether you do on others. I think you are just ignorant in this area, and would feel differently if you dealt with it with a loved one. Frankly you talk like a gay person is less human or less worthy than you, and I don't think you would do that, if for example you had a gay child that you had to explain your feelings to.

So, I don't think you are a maliciously bad person, I just think you are misguided.

Fair enough. I disagree as you know, but thanks.

Personally?

You are the one who wants to turn this personal by sending me a PM.

We've been debating for 77 pages and counting.. no reason for that not to continue.

It's gotta end at somepoint. Nothing lasts forever.

You are free to think and say what you want.

But you do not have the right to tell another person that who he or she is, or their way of life, is wrong.

That is not free speech.

That is suppression, the very thing that drove our forefathers out of England.

Actually it was religious suppression that drove them out.

I don't think you're making the point you want to make - you can tell anyone anything you want. (And by the way, you just told Boogs here that his religious way of life is wrong. That's free speech - unless you were actually trying to suppress him?)

Boogs is not free to deny someone their civic and civil rights however.

I also don't think we need to equate anyone's religion with the KKK - though I understand the analogy folks are trying to make.

The point is that many people have some pretty strong belief systems when it comes to homosexuality (me thinks they doust protest too much sometimes but I digress)

You're not going to chastise anyone into believing differently. You only back them into a corner in a defensive mode where they are defending their own belief system instead of listening and learning about a different perspective.

I've found that by actively going out of my way to really LISTEN and understand someone else's view point, they often do the same with me - and very often we find common ground.

Lol. I think you misunderstood.

But I know my kids are the most important to me so I'm not gonna do anything to ruin my relationships with them.

Who said I have a gay son?

The only thing I have told boogs that he has done wrong is judging other people's lifestyles. Just because something is unnatural to him does not mean it is the same to other people, and neither should he comment to other people that he finds their lifestyle unnatural to him, e.g., telling his gay teammates to keep details of their sex lives to themselves.

I don't think I am chastening as much as I am participating in a debate. Maybe I debate overzealously, but really, what else is there to do? April is a long way off.

I meant that hypothetically.. if you had one gay son and one straight son.

I think the primary difference here is that you and I are looking at this from the perspective of the gay person, and how they deserve to be treated, and others are looking at it from the perspective of their view on gay sex.
I have no interest in gay sex, but I have a lot of interest in people being treated fairly regardless of them having feelings that I don't.

I think my post answers your question.

I think my post answers your question.

You did not answer it.

Again, what would you say to your gay son if he asks you if it was true that what he did was "unnatural" according to the person who busted him at school?

Why are they having sex in school? Why are you perpetuating the perception that gays are sexual deviants and can't control themselves?
