He is, but we need pass-catching TEs more than we need blocking TEs.
Niklas can do both.

Niklas, by a long shot.
Fiedorowicz is a fine blocker, but he's very limited athletically and won't stretch the field much. He'll be a reliable receiver for his limited routes, but he's fundamentally limited as an offensive weapon. He's a better version of Matt Mulligan as far as I'm concerned.
Niklas has a lot of athletic potential and upside. He only converted to TE 2 years ago, and is still learning the position. He's a great blocker - maybe not quite as technically polished as Fiedorowicz, but darn good - and he has enough athleticism to stretch the field, as well as be a terrific red zone target. He has a great work ethic and strong leadership from what I have been able to glean. To me he's the most reminiscent of another Gronk.
A lesser Gronk vs. a much better Mulligan? Not a hard choice, for me.
This Crockett Gilmore character out of Colorado State has been impressing. Any thoughts? Right now he's a mid-late prospect, but I have a feeling he'll be taken in the 50-75 range when all is said and done.
He's easily got the best name of any 2014 prospect. His hair reminds me of the Greek guy on the History Channel who talks about aliens.

2014 NFL Draft: Top-50 Draft Board 1.0 - CBSSports.com
Another top 50, he has Niklas at 32, above ASJ.
— Speaking with several team sources in Mobile, the feeling is that the Dallas Cowboys will draft a defensive lineman with their first-round pick. Minnesota DT Ra'Shede Hageman and Missouri DE Kony Ealy are two to keep in mind.
— I spoke to a few NFL teams about the many Wyoming prospects in this year's class. All have mentioned quarterback Brett Smith without prompting as "terrible," "overrated" and more colorful words used to describe his struggles. The junior is rumored to have left Wyoming early because he didn't want to learn a new offensive system.
— Former Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins is training for the NFL Scouting Combine. Upon running his first 40-yard dash, his trainers told him he "didn't need to work on that anymore." Watkins' speed should make for a fun week in Indianapolis.
— What to do with Logan Thomas? One team scout I spoke to said they have asked the Virginia Tech quarterback if he would be open to moving to tight end. That's the position he was recruited to play in college by many teams.
— Jimmy Garoppolo made himself considerable money this week if you ask one NFC West team I spoke with. Their staff raved about his play in Mobile against bigger, better competition than he faced at Eastern Illinois.
any reports on Kevin Norwood? Not sure where he's projected to go but hopefully his 40time scares some teams away. Another one of those "playmakers" who always finds a way to get his name mentioned 2-3 times a game especially when Bama needed it. Would love to see him taken early day 3.
I never scout with highlights. They show all the good and none of the bad.
Funny you mention him. I was just reading some of the scouting reports on him today. Everything I've seen on him says round 6-7. He's taller; 6-2 I believe, but from what I've read not as good outside as he is in the slot. Not sure if he's the type of WR we're looking for. Just my opinion.
Over/Under on when his first NFL teammate calls him Happy? 11 seconds?
Nice profile of Florida St. DT Timmy Jernigan from Big Cat Country:
Timmy Jernigan 2014 NFL Draft Profile - Big Cat Country
Timmy Jernigan and Trent Murphy at 29 and 33 (assuming a hypothetical Mallett trade) in whichever order, plus Aaron Smith at 62 = amazing front 6/7:
DL: Ninkovich/Murphy - Wilfork (or Linval Joseph) - Jernigan - Chandler Jones, with Armstead, Siliga, Chris Jones and Michael Buchanan for additional depth.
LB: Collins - Hightower - Mayo, with Smith and Fletcher for depth.
Hightower, Collins and Smith can all play up on the line at times, and Ninkovich can play LB. Mayo could move inside with Collins and Smith playing the edges. All guys can play in 3-4 and 4-3 schemes.
Tons of versatility and play making capability.
