Kelley Washington signed

I still can't believe signing a guy that averaged 18 catches a year is spawning a 100+ post thread, not to mention the spinoff threads about our previous #1 WR suddenly being totally disposable.

Amazing.

This thread has been more about the Stallworth/Welker/Washington tri-signing and our current WR situation than the signing of any guy in particular.

Edit: After getting to the end of the thread I realized this had become a troll slugfest and I was the only one posting anymore (and I seem to have been completely out of topic trying to talk football).

Kelley Washington is a Patriots.

Hi, I was watching NFL Total Access.
They said that Kelley Washington agreed to 5-year contract with Patriots Monday.
OH Yeah!!!!

Re: Kelley Washington is a Patriots.

Can you provide a news link to confirm? And also what are the details of the contract? Looks like the Patriots are SERIOUSLY overhauling the wide receivers this offseason!

Re: Kelley Washington is a Patriots.

Is this a sarcastic post due to the other 3 threads or are you just 5 hours behind in time?

Re: Kelley Washington is a Patriots.

BREAKING NEWS: February 2007 expected to be very cold in the Northeast.

Sometimes I think if I pinch myself I'll realize that the signings this offseason have just been part of a really good dream. But then I confirm it by reading it over again. Wowzers!! The Pats are gonna AIR IT OUT in 2007 baby!! Tom Brady must have a perma-grin plastered on his face after all the good news he has heard this offseason!! I just can't wait to see Tom play with his new toys! I've been pretty much begging/hoping for some more help at the wide receiver position and right now it's just an embarassment of riches. Oh be still my heart! :rocker:

Re: Kelley Washington is a Patriots.

Thanks for the link to the main thread. All I have to say is wow. Never in my wildest dreams would I think something like this would happen.... 2007 = Greatest Pats Off-Season Ever?

Stallworth also just took a biblical dump!

Just wait until we sign Samuel long term, reduce his cap number and sign more FA . . . then use our two #1 picks :D

Could it be? Could BB be trying to dry up thr FA WR pool, insuring there is a run on WR's in the draft, Thereby insuring that high-level LB's or DB's fall to the bottom of the first rd?
Just a thought.:D

Gaffney has more upside than Caldwell imo... not even a question.

Tom has some weapons boys... watch out!

Oh, he's got the weapons alright. Now if only they'll get open...

Almost time to go to work boys...EARN those slots.

Caldwell was by far our best receiver last year. Get a clue.

You REALLY need to open your blind eyes, zippy; you prolly think that they were both signed the same time. Do the research sherlock.

Gaffney was head and shoulders the better player. He has more upside.

Is this part of a master plan or has BB just got on such a roll, he can't stop? Regardless, I love it....We went from Gaffney and Reche as 1 and 2, to them being our 4 and 5.....a beautiful thing....Now a first round safety, LB and a third round corner....

YOU are the one who needs to wake up...

I don't get why it is suddenly the sexy thing to bash Caldwell. He was our best and most consistent receiver last year and as someone showed in another post he really stepped up in the latter part of the season, down the stretch before the playoffs. If he had kept that pace he would have have had well over 1000 yards over the entire season. Sort of puts a damper in the theory that he fops in the clutch. That and not to mention he made on of the best plays of the year on the catch that got us into field goal drive at the end of the game in the playoffs. It doesn't get much bigger than that. That doesn't mean I don't think Gaffney can be a good contributor too, but it seems like some are acting like it's either one or the other with them; you can not like one with out bashing the other, when that is not the case. Caldwell should not be our number one receiver but he can be one in a good group of receivers.

Open YOUR eyes and don't let a handful of plays in one game define your opinion of a player.
