Pats - Colts Divisional Round Discussion Thread

I don't deny that taking Hilton's ability over the top away should be a huge area of focus as well. That said, both of our starting corners, when healthy, are more than capable of doing that. The Pats soft spot on defense is coverage against TE's and RB's, though. That should be the area of focus, primarily given that a lot of times Luck gets rolling by feeding Fleener.

Regardless of 40 times, none of the Patriots CBs are speed corners. I think we can expect that BB and Patricia will be schooling McCourty in the art of "Stay deeper than the deepest!" all week long. Hopefully, they're also going to be schooling the CBs on the art of beating the hell out of Hilton at the line of scrimmage.

Colts sign Deion Branch?

Gamesmanship/trying to learn the Patriots system or can he really help them?

Hilton's time = 4.34 / McCourty = 4.41 / Talib = 4.44 / Arrington = 4.44

Its not like they are slow?

See last season for the answer to your question

From what I've seen, he isn't a fighter against the Patriots.

Yep. One game his rookie year will determine how the biggest playoff game of his career so far is going to go. Very insightful thought.

I sense sarcasm. I think the Pats need to beat the fight out of him and his receivers.

I was thinking a game plan like the one they had against Torrey Smith in last year's AFCCG, which is what you mentioned.

So you'll just ignore the very start of my post:

and magically transition McCourty back to CB at the same time?

I think something similar, although Hilton will move into the slot too, which means Arrington will sometimes have the primary duty, and he'll have to be physical on the line, too.

Spikes to IR per Patriots official Twitter account. First thoughts: Not as bad this week because Colts are pass first and their run game sucks, but could hurt with Luck scrambling...

Versus the Bungles Hilton got past the CB and Safety...I am just saying our DBs are not slow. Far from it actually. Not ignoring anyone's post. Why are you so belligerent? Hmmm? :)

Your post completely ignored the very beginning of my post, in order to make a silly non-point.

This follow up of yours is ridiculous. If 40 time was what mattered, they wouldn't bother playing the games, and this would be the National Sprinting League. It also ignored the fact that McCourty is a safety, not a cornerback.

Why so "belligerent", to use your word? Because the post merited it.

McCourty is a safety and the Patriots' defense relies on strong jams to throw off timing and safety help over the top to neutralize speedy downfield guys like Hilton. It's not like the Patriots haven't faced downfield threats, though. Hilton's a good player, but they contained AJ Green, Torrey Smith, Mike Wallace, Vincent Jackson, and others this year. Not Josh Gordon, though his biggest play was on a short catch and run.

This will be the best matchup of this round. I like our chances Luck has to be runing out of luck at some point.

No spikes huh? No worries, we will score 35+ in every playoff game.
