For a 7th rounder and a track guy who doesn't play

a lot of people were wondering where he would fit in...with ridley, vereen and bolden already here...but has fit in great

Amazing that for a 4th and 7th, we got Talib and Blount. Does BB have a naked picture of Schiano?

It's good to have friends in the NFL who are willing trade partners, especially when those players aren't working out for their specific teams. It's have been nice to see Sopoaga work out from Chip Kelly even more than Blount, but how good has Siliga been? I'm impressed for sure.

As far as the Blount trade, I don't think it's going to be all that high on Belichick's list of accomplishments personnel-wise, but Blount has done a nice job filling his role here.

Didn't we trade for Corey Dillon? He had a superb season that year and it helped us significantly in getting a third SB. And a fourth rounder for arguably the most dominant performance ever by a WR, trump most other trades even if their tenures in NWE weren't particularly long.

Blount is a pleasant surprise. I'm not sure how many people actually did predict Blount's significant role in the offense. Not many I'd presume. I sure didn't. In fact there was chatter about who of Blount and Bolden would actually make the 53 man roster. Wound up they both did.

I would not rank it all that high he was going to get cut if the pats did not trade for him but his done a nice job I am happy he is on the team

The Pats definitely won that trade.

But in addition to the trades mentioned above, let's not forget the most important trade of all: a 1 to the JEST for Bill Belichick. :rocker:

Nothing tops the Moss trades. He gives the Raiders a 4th to Moss, who then turns back into the HOF Randy Moss, then, when he starts to falter he gets a 3rd rounder back for him, but alas, he is done. Unbelievable.

Threads like this demonstrate why it is so easy for the haters around here.Blount was trashed repeatedly by the "this is a crap roster, Belichick doesn't know what he is doing" crowd, yet when once again proven completely wrong they just go into silent mode and wait for their next opportunity to take a dump.

Notwithstanding the especially low pick for Blount, I'd put Dillon, Moss and Talib ahead of Blount. Probably Ted Washington as well. Welker too, of course, but that was only a trade as a technicality.

The Patriots never signed him to an offer sheet, so it's not really a technicality.

A foregone conclusion the moment the LOLphins gave him the second-round tender, but not a technicality.

I agree that's #1

If today was an indicator we may well want to reserve judgement on the Blount trade. All season they have been looking to find an identity and IMO they may have actually found it in this game. The Dillon analogy is apt and if they play Denver again they may use the same power running game we saw with Blount and Ridley and use it to dominate TOP, turn the forehead into a spectator, and seriously reduce his drive opportunities, and try to beat them in a shortened lower scoring game.

The type of power run game right up the middle and right at them hat we saw today also does more to aid their beleaguered OL than anything else could, as they get the opportunity running right at them to dish out the hits instead of taking them all day. They get to be the punchers instead of the punched, and that both protects Brady and wears the opposing defense down and keeps theirs fresh.

Technical correction: Siliga was signed to the PS after being cut lose by Sea (traded from Den to Sea). So he was never a TRADE; but AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY he has filled in better that Soapoaga.

Blount has been a very good pickup. For all his awkward-looking returns on KOs and the criticisms that generated; he has shown that he is willing to put himself out there in ALL PHASES. And he seems to push-move bodies when it comes to hard yards-heavy traffic.

Still scares the heck out of me everytime he wheels out of the backfield to catch a pass (or deflect it HOPEFULLY TOWARDs THE GROUND is more like it.):D

Is it me or did Blount look skinny today?

If you asked me last year who the slowest RBs in the NFL were.....Turner and Blount. But today, in the 4th qtr, Blount had burst turning up field and I did a double take wondering if Blount switched jerseys with some new fast guy. I likey Blount 2.0

Like his power running, but the best move he had all day was the mock Ray Lewis dance after his 2nd TD. IN Baltimore. Loved it.

Moss was a great trade, but I think BB best trade was Dillon.

And to all the geniuses that said he sucked. The man ripped off a big gain in his first pre season game and with little exception has played very very well ever since. I never got the hate. A little early to tell but i'd rank him 3rd behind Moss and Dillon

I like the trade, but let's get real. It was nowhere near some of the best trades Belichick has made. Here are the best (in no particular order):

  • A second for Corey Dillon
  • A fourth for Ted Washington
  • A fourth for Randy Moss
  • A second and a seventh for Wes Welker
