It's easy, and only takes a few moments.I still find it hard to believe the 49ers had Smith play a game before going to rehab. What were the assault weapons?

Read my mind... shotguns are assault weapons now? Or high capacity pistols? Or is he a moron with true h/c rifles?
Either way, I think there is a lot we don't know if SF distanced themselves before anything went public. The real question is how well do AS's lawyers cover up whatever other ***** storm is looming.
"The weapons include an Armalite AR10-T .308 caliber rifle, a Bushmaster ACR rifle chambered for 5.56mm NATO and a Bushmaster Carbon-15 .223 caliber rifle."

This is a football fan site...but to shed a little light on the subject...those ARE semis BUT ..using Google one can easily find hundreds of links that either lead to directions or offer directions for a price as far as making each weapon full auto.
I'd imagine if somebody would go to the lengths of procuring weapons like these, then making them full auto would seem to be a reasonable next step. They are weapons that exist to kill PEOPLE. Anyone willing to kill people is certainly not going to have a conscience about the ramifications of semi-auto versus full auto.
FWIW, none of those are "Assault Rifles". What they are are "scary black rifles". Assault weapons have selective fire switches which allow you to fire either short bursts or full automatic as well as single shots.
I'm not sure what lengths you think are necessary, here, but it's not as if they've got to be smuggled in by Vietnamese smugglers.
You can buy an AR-15 at Wal-mart in my state and there are youtube videos on how to make it full auto. I'm on some NSA list now, aren't I?

For my own safety, I'd like anyone who owns a fully automatic AR-15 to be one someone's list. There is no reason to have one except to intimidate or kill. Its over kill for protection, its immoral as a hunting gun.You can buy an AR-15 at Wal-mart in my state and there are youtube videos on how to make it full auto. I'm on some NSA list now, aren't I?
You’re making some tremendous assumptions there.
I own a BUNCH of these guns and 1) I’ve never killed anyone, and 2) I haven’t made a single one full-auto. That’s true for every single gun-owner I know.

The NRA likes to use the "slippery slope" argument all the time when fighting even the most reasonable gun control laws. I would opine that we've gone down the "slippery slope" in the other direction over the last few decades. We live in a country where "weapons of mass murder" are as readily available to ANYONE who wants them for any purpose, either legally or illegally.
Yet the NRA and their ilk fight ANY attempt at regaining some sort of logic back into gun control. Laws that would allow law abiding sane people to own guns, while protecting the rest of us from people who not have the ability to kill, but to kill on a massive scale.
