Report: Season-ending torn Achilles for Wilfork

The crap about bringing Seymour back is nauseating.....the guy was literally a non factor his last 2 years with the Raiduhs and is nothing more than a body on a lineup.

It's not 2001 anymore folks.....the guy is past his prime and simply is not worth signing from the views of ALL 32 teams including the Falcons who were the only team to show any interest at all when they lost Abraham...if he was worth anything there would have been serious talks with at least one team.

It's not all about what he wants for a contract...it's about what he can provide a team...and it doesn't appear to be much anymore.

That one would take Dr. Phil to pull off.

Money solves all problems.

I don't think the Patriots will pony up the cash required for Seymour to play. No team has convinced him to leave his home in Georgia - probably because of his salary demands. [pure speculation]

So you didn't watch him play, then.

Everyone said that about the Raiders version of Randy Moss. He ended up being traded for a 4th rounder... It's hard to judge players when they play on crappy teams.

I doubt Seymour plays in the NFL in 2013, but not because he doesn't have the ability. I think his desire is completely financially driven.

I'm with you, 100% The problem, from what I've read/heard in reports over the years, is that all indications are that the bridge was pretty well charred on both ends...

Someone would have to make the first move, and I'm not sure if either side is going to be willing to do that. Seymour/Pouha or Seymour/Hampton would be pairs I'd love to see the Patriots bring in.

Definitely true, but if it comes down to making the first move, I'd certainly hope that Belichick could swallow their pride and be the ones to do it. They extended Mankins after he publicly called Kraft a liar; if they could get over that, then they should be able to get over whatever Seymour did.

On top of that, I remember Gerard Warren saying when he signed here that he solicited Seymour's input and got a very positive review. Apparently Tommy Kelly also got some guidance from him.

I agree that it probably won't happen, but if there was ever a time to pick up the phone and hash things out, this is it. Seymour won't fill the leadership void, and at this stage in his career he isn't as good as a healthy Wilfork, but he's better than the Wilfork that we saw this season (who was clearly dealing with some kind of injury).

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you haven't seen any Raiders games the last 2 years, because your evaluation is about a mile off. He isn't the player that he used to be, but he can still play.

Had to be playing with this issue all year

Vince was definitely playing with something. I don't think he would have been playing if they were under impression his achilles tendon was about to go, but if we find out that Vince has surgery on his achilles and maybe an ankle or a knee in the near future, color me unsurprised.

Would you be willing to give a 2nd rounder to the Browns for Phil Taylor?

He's been playing with something foot-related all year (hence being listed on the injury report). I doubt it was a known Achilles issue, though.

What's Ted Washington up these days? Maybe he's even bigger.

Agreed, he wants $$, the Pats don't have much cap room to spend on a guy like him.

are you wondering like I am that this was a problem from the start of the season? Ducasse moved him around like a stuffed toy last week...and Ducasse was obliterated this week by a nobody. If true, then it's best it happened now so they can get some big bodies in for a tryout.

Next question...what veteran DT's are available?

I hear Seymour is still waiting...

Yeah, in a heartbeat. DTs are always a tricky position to evaluate when it comes to the draft.

Glad we won. But man i am depressed over this.

At his age will he ever come back to 100% from this?? Today sucks

I don't think there is any chance Seymour comes back here. Too much water under the bridge on both sides. I think BB will try to pick up some other veteran cheap and see what the rookie can do.

This was my first thought this morning when I saw the first mention of the SMY tweet.

One thing of note. SMY is the ONLY source for this. Everyone else is quoting her and her "source".

So which is it, are they still awaiting results or is Wilfork done for the year?

The Browns aren't trading Taylor. Why? Because it's their defense carrying them. Furthermore, the fact that they are winning without Richardson and just beat the Bengals (who looked like Beasts the 1st 3 weeks) tells me that they are likely to be a team that won't be trading..
