I think this game is 50-50 in the pats winning

How many people on here will freak out if the pats lose and MIA wins IN NO Monday night? Will the board go into meltdown?

Winning in New Orleans is next to impossible while Payton is patrolling the sidelines and Brees is under center, especially on the national stage. The Dolphins are also banged up at key positions on defense. The chances of Miami winning are slim to none.

The Saints and the Seahawks have the best homefield advantages in the NFL.

I've got better chances of riding Gisele like Seabiscuit than the phins winning in NO.

You might want to check your chances again. If there's one thing that Miami has on defense, it's speed. A lot of it. Jimmy Graham will have a huge day because they struggle against the TE, but they can contain New Orleans if they can get after Brees. The Saints offense hasn't exactly looked like a juggernaut lately. That said, I've taken the Saints in all of the pools that I'm in, mostly because of their pass rush vs. a suspect OL. But it wouldn't surprise me to see Miami keep this game really close.

According to Pro football reference, since Payton/Brees hit NO, their losses break down like this:

Home/Away
2006 - 4/2
2007 - 5/4
2008 - 2/6
2009 - 2/1
2010 - 3/2
2011 - 0/3
Totals - 16/18

The Patriots losses, meanwhile, break down like this:

Home/Away
2006 - 1/3
2007 - 0/0
2009 - 0/6
2010 - 0/2
2011 - 1/2
2012 - 2/2
Totals - 4/15

I'd say 4 losses in 6 seasons at home under Brady/BB, compared to the 15 dropped on the road, makes the Patriots HFA a better one than that of Payton/Brees in NO. At least win percentage wise, the Saints are basically the same at home as on the road.

You've made solid points from a contextual standpoint. When I say HFA, I'm referring to things like crowd noise/support, stadium atmosphere. Not exclusive to how the team performs at home.

I'd say the Saints HFA/in-game fan-base emotion's is superior to that of the Patriots'. Unless you're really attempting to argue that the country-club atmosphere at the razor really outstrips the Saints rabid-like fanbase at the Superdome. Having a great in-game fan-base support doesn't automatically guarantee wins (Saints) just like having a poor emotion doesn't automatically guarantee losses (Patriots).

How good your team is, is the biggest factor. Some of the worst teams in the league still have a great HFA (see: 2012 Chiefs)

Before now, the last season coach Payton was patrolling the sidelines, the Saints went 8-0 at home, and are 2-0 so far this year. That's the basis of my statement from a more recent perspective. Last year without him, they went 4-4. Proving that, so far, while he's there, since 2011 they haven't been beaten at home.

Found this nice picture of the crowd at Gillette from last Sunday...

There are two units on the Falcons that I'm not impressed with: the defensive line and the offensive line. I think the Patriots' offense will attack the middle of the field and exploit Atlanta's linebackers and safeties in coverage

Teddy Bruschi. And i agree 100% on this. But will it be enough...lets hope

That's some pretty funny stuff right there, Kontra.

Not too often that I literally chuckle out loud, but this did it for me.

As fans (more importantly human beings) we tend to grow impatient rather easily.

We must remember that the 17 weeks of the NFL football season are a marathon of sorts, not a sprint.

Although it's easy to get bogged down in the media and forum comments, trying to assess the 2013 season after week #4 is foolish at best.

Luckily, Bill Belichick is far from being considered a fool, and he has a much bigger picture in place. We all know that we're likely to have anywhere from 3 to 6 losses this season, but it's the post-Thanksgiving stretch run that will show the defense getting more responsibilities, along with the expected growth of the offense to boot. We may not get the #1 seed, or even the #2--but the chances are pretty good that the 2013 Patriot team will be competitive deep into the season.

If the MIA Dolphin fans and the media wish to write them off or crown them after the first month of the season, then let them. We have seen paper crowns before and other teams' Super Bowls played out on any given week. This team that is here in Foxborough is still led by veteran players who have been there before, and they nor their coach will fall for such shenanigans.

This game will be won by the best pass defense.

Jones and White are both 78% completion WRs. It remains to be seen just how good or bad NEs secondary really is. Atlanta wants to rack up points putting the onus on Brady knowing that his WR corps is basically a work in progress.

No Gronk, no Amendola, no Vereen, on the road vs. the Falcons....

If we somehow win, our team is friggin good.....

Ya unless they pound the rock 55 times for 250 yards, just don't see them winning this game.

The baby patriot receivers should shred that Atlanta secondary.

You've got to be kidding me.

- The best quarterback in the league still in IMO and the GOAT given his circumstances at 3-0

- The best coach in the league still IMO and the best of all time considering lack of superstars outside of Brady during the last decade and streaks he was able to put together

- A group of learning, but talented young receivers with more ceiling and upside then we've seen in a long time around here

- A dangerous and promising running game with a group of 4 talented running backs that compliment each other in different styles

- A defense that's lightyears ahead of where they were at the last few seasons REGARDLESS of who they've played this year

- 3 Superbowls, 5 Superbowl Appearances, at least 7 AFC Championship appearances and 8 play off appearances and varius other streaks this decade

And yet we go into a game with the Atlanta Falcons who have good regular season records but only traveled to ONE NFC Championship game during Matt Ryan's tenure yet we should be the ones afraid? You got to be sh%tting me.

Whatever happen to the pride and optimism around here. All those times of proving doubters wrong, over coming injuries and making players around Tom great and we go into a less accomplished team's house hesitating? give me a break.

I say we beat the Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta by at least two touchdowns and if I'm wrong them come back and crucify me but if I'm right well you know the reasons why.

I won't argue that. But it is some of Brady's decisions and the red zone play that has me concerned.

I just hope if they get in the red zone McDaniels calls some run plays.

And if there is such a thing as a mentally weak fan, boy, just come to thus thread/board for a whole passel of examples. Some of you ought to be ashamed of yourselves for being such ****ies.

He's not playing like the best QB in the league.

- The best coach in the league still IMO and the best of all time considering lack of superstars outside of Brady during the last decade and streaks he was able to put together
Yet they've lost to worse Coach/QB tandems than Mike Smith and Matt Ryan over the years.
Here's a few
Rex Ryan/Mark Sanchez
Eric Mangini/Colt McCoy
Ken Wisenhunt/Kevin Kolb
Chan Gailey/Ryan Fitzpatrick
Tony Sparano/Chad Henne
Josh McDaniels/Kyle Orton
Eric Mangini/Chad Pennington
Jim Bates/AJ Feely
Steve Spurrier/Patrick Ramsey
Gregg Williams/Drew Bledsoe

Keywords here: Learning and Young.

- A dangerous and promising running game with a group of 4 talented running backs that compliment each other in different styles
Patriots are 1 of 3 teams in the NFL not to have a rushing TD yet this season. The other 2, Cleveland and St. Louis. And arguably the most talented all-over of the 4 won't be playing.

- A defense that's lightyears ahead of where they were at the last few seasons REGARDLESS of who they've played this year
Yes they did what they should have done against the offenses the have faced so far. But none of those offenses are Atlanta's. But we'll see if the defense has finally made the jump

- 3 Superbowls, 5 Superbowl Appearances, at least 7 AFC Championship appearances and 8 play off appearances and varius other streaks this decade
Has zero affect on this game.

And yet we go into a game with the Atlanta Falcons who have good regular season records but only traveled to ONE NFC Championship game during Matt Ryan's tenure yet we should be the ones afraid? You got to be sh%tting me.
Once again this kind of thing has no affect on this game.

Whatever happen to the pride and optimism around here. All those times of proving doubters wrong, over coming injuries and making players around Tom great and we go into a less accomplished team's house hesitating? give me a break.
Atlanta is very accomplished at home.

You know the last time Atlanta lost back to back games? '09

Ya we're ****ies for having an opinion and thinking that with the Pats not being at their absolute best right now will lose.

But for you i'll change my stance and pink hat homer it

Talib will contain Julio Jones to under 100 yards and will have an INT. The Pats D-Line will have a combined 6 sacks. Brady will absolutely shred the Falcons secondary with Thompkins and Dobson getting 100+ rec yards each

and the Pats win it 31-21
