More AHern bad news; lawsuit alleges he shot man in face

To be fair, you can be found civilly liable for damages for an accidental gunshot where negligence was involved but not be criminally prosecuted.

To be perfectly frank, I don't care one bit if he's found civilly liable for damages. Not that it would ever get to that point, since this has settlement written all over it IF there's anything even remotely compelling about what the guy's saying. As long as there are no criminal charges, I don't care what happens in a civil lawsuit.

Millions of dollars later, it is starting to look like thirty one other NFL
teams were smarter that the Patriots in not drafting this guy. He
has become a disgrace to the Patriots.

What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? There's a lot of conjecture by folks here in the thread, and by the media types looking to garner clicks, sell newspapers, or gain viewer/listeners. I will grant you it looks bad for Ahern right now, but the media is in no rush to come to his defense. They could care less, and the worse he looks, the more readers, viewers, and listeners that media outlet has. People love to tune into other people's misery.

I would say to you, before you rush to the dumpster with your #81 jersey, you wait until the facts come out before you point at the guy and say what a disgrace he is.

Jumping to conclusions.

so...it was YOU...randomk...in the library with the candlestick...

ZOUNDS!!

I'm already considering the fact that we might be dealing with a series. The guy with the missing eye was most likely a failed attempt at delivering some sort of a gang message

Everybody hates the Patriots to begin with. Having a murderer on the team might add that intimidation factor. Worked for the Ravens.

Sure why not, they could run the “Last Boy Scout” pass play to AHern - guaranteed to score every time.

Well, a settlement would suggest some admission of culpability on the part of Hernandez - not innocence.

Umm no it doesn't. Besides this is non-news because the case was DISMISSED. I hate garbage tabloids who print big bold headlines that end up being a nonstory.

The fact that it sounds like a scam lawsuit in the first place (likely designed to get some even cheaper amount to make it go away) doesn't strike me as a case with any credibility, regardless of the current situation revolving around Hernandez.

Exactly, it sounds like a scam lawsuit. And it got dismissed. End of story.

My apologies if this was already discussed in thread but it seems it wasn't some random guy at a strip club but someone in his group that had gone out for the night .if that is the case there are sure to be witnesses and this could have been reported as an accident etc. I don't think it's over yet.....

"According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Hernandez and Alexander S. Bradleywent to Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami on February 13, 2013 … and during the outing, the two men got into an argument.

Bradley claims … After the dispute, both men left the club — and got into the same car which was heading to Palm Beach. During the ride, Aaron allegedly aimed his weapon at Bradley … and the gun discharged, striking Bradley in the face.

Bradley claims he suffered major injuries from the gunshot … including the loss of his right eye.

Bradley also claimed he required major surgery to reconstruct his face … which required plates and screws. Bradley also claims he suffered damage to his right hand and arm, which also required surgery."

Airtight alibi -- Hernandez was in Boston murdering someone else.

Wow, we have a murder mystery starring Hernandez, and like any good mystery let's hope the protagonist is vindicated.

Bedard linked to this: NFL Star Aaron Hernandez Eyed in Riviera Beach Shooting!

New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez, who was questioned by police about a murder near Boston last night, may have been involved with another shooting — this one in Riviera Beach Feb. 13.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a man bleeding from the head early that morning on Fiscal Court, in an industrial part of Riviera Beach.

When they arrived, according to the PBSO report, they found Alexander Bradley bleeding from the head and a hand.

Bradley was uncooperative and rude to both deputies and emergency personal — and refused to identify his attacker.

He did, however, claim in a federal lawsuit filed in West Palm Beach June 13 that Hernandez, the Patriots’ up-and-coming tight end and former University of Florida standout, was the one who shot him while waving a gun at him during a dispute.

The bullet traveled up Bradley’s arm and into his skull, shattering his eyeball.

The argument between Hernandez and Bradley, who were friends, allegedly occurred as the two drove north on I-95 in Palm Beach County after a night of partying in Miami strip joints.

Looking at the police report, I guess now we know why the criminal case went nowhere.

Off field stuff rarely effects anything if the player is good enough. Now the question is, "Is A.Hern. good enough?"

I would be surprised if he end up traded, but I would not be amazed or flabbergasted or anything. Heck, "surprised" might be over stating it.

Oh, not for moralistic stuff (although the team marketing dept. might care). I'd worry about the sword of Damoclese in the suspension. (Yes, we can debate wether or not it is right, but I do not doubt Herr Goodell will rule the way E!SPN tells him too.)

Dumb post. Maybe you should wait until the facts come out before calling the guy a disgrace.

Too late, Jack. Who cares about facts? The media HATH spoken! :D

I don't know about him being a disgrace, but it's definitely not looking good these past two days. Hopefully, he doesn't make my No. 81 Nike jersey a collector's item for all the wrong reasons.

Suit against Hernandez being re-filed today
Posted by Mike Florio on June 19, 2013, 3:51 PM EDT

The lawsuit filed last week against Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez for allegedly shooting a guy in the face was indeed dismissed. But it will be re-filed. Today.

Attorney David Jaroslawicz, who represented the former Jets massage therapists in the lawsuit against Brett Favre, tells PFT that the case was dismissed not because of a settlement but because of a mistake in the paperwork.

“It is being refiled today,” Jaroslawicz said via email. “The injury was corrected. He did not have plates and screws in his arm, only in the right side of his face.”

Typically, a complaint can be amended freely and without court permission before the defendant submits a response. It’s unclear why that didn’t happen here, especially since re-filing the lawsuit means cutting a new check for the filing fee.

What do you mean not looking good?

Police have questioned him about a murder in the area... along with other residence in the area. He isn't a suspect, it's the police's job to gather information from residence. That is what they are doing.

Suddenly this other charge rears up... even tho it was dismissed.

Let's give the guy some credit before throwing him under the bus as fans. Hell some idiot could make a report against Hernandez tomorrow saying he assaulted him in a bar. The police would investigate and the report would read "Hernandez investigated for bar fight".

Let's everybody take a deep breath.

This makes zero sense. If the guy had his "eye shot out" and has plates and screws in the right side of his face then a police report has to exist. By law, in the state of Florida, hospitals have to report all gun shot wounds to the local police. Which I would ass-u-me would spark an investigation. And only suing for 100K? This sounds like complete Bull**** to me....but I guess stranger things have happened. I will sit back and wait to see what the actual facts are as they slowly trickle out.

I would expect a TMZ link being a valid source and worthy of a post on Jets Insider.

But not here.
