A guy gets shot in the face, suffers major injuries, loses sight in one eye and demands ONLY $100,000 from an NFL player with a 40 million contract?

Something seems a bit off in that suit in the first place.

    It said MORE THAN $100,000.

    And the next line.

... and all signs point to settlement.

Well, a settlement would suggest some admission of culpability on the part of Hernandez - not innocence.

The fact that it sounds like a scam lawsuit in the first place (likely designed to get some even cheaper amount to make it go away) doesn't strike me as a case with any credibility, regardless of the current situation revolving around Hernandez.

Which that line is TMZ's thinking there was a settlement. So go find me proof that there was one, i'll wait.

Sounds like BS. The case was immediately dismissed for a reason, this guy is probably just trying to get some easy settlement money.

BTW, don't the police investigate all gunshot wounds?

If it were a million, they'd say a million - anything less than that strikes me as fishy.

It could have been thrown out of court - but this is TMZ - so they'll assume the frivolous lawsuit calling for @ $100,000 was settled - not thrown out.

This is old news, and the case was dismissed.

Didn't we have a thread on this?

I know it was something related to Hernandez being sued...

One of the effects of a settlement is the dismissal of a case.

Why were there never any criminal charges brought against Hernandez? You get shot in the face and cause enough damage to make him blind in one eye, you have to go to the hospital and the hospital has to report all gun shot wounds. Why were there no charges filed?

    Update

10:34 AM PT -- Sources connected to the case tell us ... Bradley's legal team only dismissed the case because there was an error in the paperwork ... and they FULLY plan to REFILE the lawsuit TODAY.

We're also told ... Bradley will argue that the bullet initially struck him in the arm and continued traveling through his body until it struck him in the face .... blowing out his eyeball.

Precisely. H shoulda been arrested or at least brought in for questioning and released. No police report is a bigger scandal because there would have been malfeasance by the cops to ignore it. Hospitals must report GSWs to the police. Having a gun w/o a permit as alleged is a crime; a really big one if you then shoot someone (OK, OK, outside of Chicago I mean). Plaxico comes to mind.

Also, those discrediting the story because it was first reported by TMZ, Gred Bedard also says he has a copy of this lawsuit.

Civil suit was filed Thursday, withdrawn Monday. I was told no settlement at this time, and the matter isn't resolved yet.

Now I'm no expert here, but:

    1. How powerful would a gun have to be to travel up somebodies arm/body before breaching the jaw/cheekbone/eye socket and then "blow out" an eye?

    2. What kind of angle did Hernandez "shoot" this guy from to get that trajectory when they were sat in a car?

Civil case, yes. But if what he's claiming actually happened, then presumably there would be an ongoing criminal investigation, since police investigate all gunshot wounds.

Cannot be answered. Too many possibilities. Bullets ricochet, even off bone. Probably NOT a 22.
