Welker should be a Patriot. I believe the one offer, take or leave it story. It fits the Patriot way. If they wanted him they would have found a way to keep him. They were at odds prior to tagging him last season, Now we have an injury prone player taking his place. Hopefully Amendola can stay healthy.

Cost the Pats a Championship and possibly a SB that season when the Jets figured out how to stop the defense with no deep threat. Play the short to mid field. No deep threat means no spreading the defense which means stacking the box! In return that shuts down all the short stuff and the run. That's exactly what happened and now in big games thats exactly how teams stop them.

And have Gronk injured the game before. As long as this team can stay (relatively) healthy, they will be there at the end. I believe they'll add another capable WR here and the offense will be fine. It's the defense that could really put them over the top if they improve their pass rush and secondary next season.

They didnt seem to have any problems stopping the offense with Moss that season either.

I'm gonna mis Welker bigtime, what a warrior, maybe the best slot receiver ever. That being said, we have to accept that he is gone. Amendola is bigger and slightly faster, and has great hands, I think we will enjoy watching him play. The keys, as in any season, is staying healthy. IF Amendola, Gronkowski & Hernandez can stay healthy, the passing offense will be excellent. let's not forget, the Pats are not done building their receiver group. FA or the draft will add more weapons. I also think Vareen and Ballard will add a lot to the passing game.
