Not for his draft stock. Requires an operation I believe.

This is going to be a little controversial but after having seen both in the same game, I think I prefer Jesse Williams to Louis Nix. Don't get me wrong, I really like Nix but I do think he plays a little undisciplined. He'll jump into the gap the OL gives him as the RB runs through the opposite gap. Williams on the other hand plays really disciplined. He takes on double teams with real aggression and whilst he's not there yet, there is some real athleticism to his play. And by the way, did you see his blocking as a FB on that TD run. Brushed Te'o aside and then took another defender head on.
I wouldn't be upset at either and I do think Nix's upside is greater but Williams just feels like an ideal Pats fit if BB is looking DT.
Highly doubt we even get a chance to take either, but if I had to pick I'd go with Nix. Williams is underrated (probably due to the fact that most recent Alabama prospects have underwhelmed in the NFL) but Nix has a little Wilfork in him and a little Haynesworth in him, and that's just fascinating.

Ok firstly, you need to contribute more. You've been making some really good points recently. And secondly, I know that I'll probably change my mind on Williams v Nix back and forth because I do like both. Just found myself more impressed with Williams today.
Just have to find a way to get both and we won't need to talk DT for a decade. #wishfulthinking
2012
Barrett Jones - lisfranc ligament tear
2011
Josh Chapman - torn ACL
Tough collegiate football players at Alabama.
By the way, Josh Chapman was one of my draft binkies last year.
Josh Chapman >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jake Bequette
I put him in the "let someone else take that risk" category. Now where do you put Johnathan Hankins with respect to the two of them?
As a devotee of Gridean philosphy, I was about to chime in with the obligatory "hell, why not BOTH?!?" post, but you beat me to it.
I see both points of view, and you've both captured it perfectly. "Wilfork, with a touch of Haynesworth" is a nice description of Nix, who has a tantalizing skill set. But Manx also captures the essence of Jesse Williams - his athleticism is currently concealed within a game of unbelievable power and discipline. They're slightly complementary: Williams, like Wilfork, has playmaking ability which he has yet to let out, and Nix needs to reign his in just a bit. But I'd take either, or both, in a heartbeat.

Neither Nix nor Williams is the kind of DT that I'm looking for, and I think the defense would benefit much more from a penetrator rather than another plugger. The difference for me is that I think Nix has the potential to be just about everything Wilfork has been for the Pats, where I don't think Williams quite has that kind of potential.
KLM looked better than Tuitt before his most unfortunate injury.Have to say, Tuitt was a disappointment. Hardly saw him involved at all.
Josh Chapman underwent ACL surgery and was placed on Injured Reserve. They've both played as much

What's Bequette's excuse?
Jake Bequette ......ugh!That was my point.
Nix did over penetrate at times and I think Jones did a fair job leading him away from the play, but Bama's backs did a great job avoiding Nix and the holes were wide open away from Nix. I think Nix was the best player on ND tonight. The rest of the team was dominated.
Let me preface this by saying I really really want to like Williams. I just can't. I think he's top heavy and extremely stiff. I also think he's a nose tackle only. Nix best position is a NT but I think he can move all around the line like Wilfork. Williams is too tight to have success unless the play is right over him IMO. He also offer little penetration.
