yeah....if he won.

I'll go to Manning; possibly Peterson.

Unfortunately, a sloppy mistaked filled first half killed this team. On the positive sides:

  • This team didn't lay down and die and after being down 31-3.
  • The Pats scored more points against the 49ers than any team this year by 8 points without Gronk. That might speak well when they get him back. The offense could be unstoppable. He was sorely missed in the first half.

I am mixed about this loss. I think the 49ers are arguably one of top 2 teams in the league and the Pats shredded that 49ers defense in the second half, but the fact the Pats choked in the end is a bit of a sour taste in the mouth.

Of the final three games, this was the one game the Pats can most afford to lose. HFA and the #1 seed looks to be out of reach since the Texans have to lose their final two games, but the #2 seed is not necessarily out of the question.

Turnovers killed us, rain was definately a factor. Pissed for ridley because going into the post season you cannot give your team doubts about ball security rain or not.

Ridley was terrible tonight.. 9 carries for 2.6 ypc and one fumble and another almost-fumble.

The 49ers had multiple opportunities to blow away the Patriots too, from fumbles, to the McCourty interception, to the missed FG.

The Patriots came out up tempo from the start. I saw McDaniels and Brady discussing the play after the Ridley fumble overturn, and McDaniels seemed to be adamant about running the ball there.

That was actually a huge moment in the game, 3rd and 3, got stuffed, 3 and out.

I know New England has a semblance of a running game, but the fact is, this is a passing team. They should pass, and step on the other team's throat.

Crazy game.

I realize Tracy White was out for this game, but ************, is he that pivotal to this special teams. How many ******* holding calls did they get.
Not to mention that onside kick, which, as usual, was a joke.

The punts and the kickoffs were also oftentimes short.

I still think we have as good a chance as anybody, but having to play an extra game against a Balt or Pitts and THEN having to go TO Denver is a MUCH tougher road then we would have had as the 2 seed (obviously).

I didn't realize it but Lloyd went for 190 yards.

Imagine how much he would have gotten if Brady and the Pats didn't lose faith in him and phased him out of the offense.

Lol even with the loss Brady should've showed more of a reason why he's the most valuable player. peyton hands the ball off all game and his defense does all the work. i wish brady had his defense  AP can have it.

Re: MVP should have been sealed up tonight

and it's brady with his fight at the end of the game and putting them back in the game to almost win

Commendable effort by TB but AP took the lead in the MVP by a good distance - where would the Vikes be without him? Peyton can sit back now and enjoy CPOY. Still nothing is certain at this stage

the game came down to one thing...turnovers..the pats turned the ball over 4 times...and all of them were in their own territory.

Ridleys fumble was the real game changer...the pats had momentum and were moving the chains...to make it 10-17 and then he fumbles it and its 24-3

There is no almost-fumble when you are down.

excuses
excuses
excuses

see you guys in the super bowl!!!

Oh wait, you won't make it cause your team is straight garbage ahahahahaha

Thanks for the well thought out comments

Many reasons why the Pats could have won or deserved to lose. Bottom line is there's no shame in losing to a SB contender like SF. Their D is monsterous.

Time to root hard for the Pats, Browns, and Vikings next week.

The Ridley fumble was a good defensive play...helmet to the ball....you do realize how *****ty it is outside right??? I just went to let the cat in and damn near froze my nutz off...

Who in the current MVP race could have accomplished what Brady had to over come. Brady is a one man show. He almost won this game all by his damn self. HE NEVER GAVE UP.

Self inflicted wounds. To be honest, I've come away from that game not as impressed with the 49ers D as I should be. The Patriots put up 34 points on them in spite of 4 turnovers, enjoying the bounce of the ball all night and having what can only be described as the refs in their back pocket with the amount of questionable calls/non-calls that went their way ALL GAME. The Patriots will beat them candidly in a rematch.

The Patriots ST/D on the other hand, were pathetic.

- they didn't give up after being down 28 to the best defense in the league

:agree:

That's the biggest thing that's happened in the last two months: whatever mojo the Pats had that caused them to meltdown in the second half of games has been drastically reduced.

Yes, they still have problems—but then, EVERY team has problems—but this team no longer turtles up. They FIGHT BACK.

And as I posted elsewhere:
(1) Think about this for a second. The Pats took the Texans to the woodshed, and the Texans gave up. The 49ers tried to take the Pats to the woodshed, and the Pats nearly pulled off the comeback.
(2) No matter what, the Pats didn't lay nearly as bad an egg as the Giants did.
(3) No matter what, the JEST still suck. :p

I think they were due for a letdown, but it really hurts thinking they will have to go to Denver. I just can't see Denver losing at home to CLE or KC.
