I heard one official said it's done, while another official signaled no deal.

Well if we use the replacements rules, that means it's a personal foul on the crowd and 6th down.

both sides appeared to have done the right thing

owners conceded some points on pension and compensation.....considering the financial health of the league, and how vital the regular refs have become to the integrity of the game, they SHOULD have conceded a little more money/better pension....these guys have a unique & vital skillset

the officials conceded the taxi squad/evaluation process.....as they should, can't complain if the evaluation system is fair and actually works to produce better officials......i am reading the officials will be involved in the creation of the processes and the actual evaluations, so this is good

good to see both sides made the necessary moves while still getting what they both need......good move by all, kudos to the federal mediator who helped get this done

somehow i think the Kraft faction of owners had more to do with getting this done than the Jones faction, but that's just me :D

sickening it took sunday/mondays game to get something done

He's the one that's been keeping the refs in shape so are they all going to come back looking like Hulk?

You wouldn't like him when he's angry... HOCH SMASH!

"Ed Hochuli "negotiated" terms for the referees. Three lawyers were hospitalized but there were no fatalities..."

I never thought I'd miss Ed Hochuli...then Sunday happened :p

You beat me to it. Didn't read the whole thread. Probably should have before I repeated your joke.

Can I change my to joke to the "Definitive Ref" Mike Carey over Ed Houchi?

Ed Hochuli is the worst ref in the league. He belongs with the replacements. He just gets way more attention than he deserves because he's in good shape.

Not sure he's the worst but he's definitely lost a couple of mph off his fastball at 61. Media was ragging on him as poster boy for change until the lockout. His crews back judge is a 66 year old retired cop. But his young by comparison head linesman has screwed up multiple times including during last years NFCC Championship game when he blew his whistle prematurely negating a turnover that would have clinched the game and SB berth before OT for San Francisco. And he was the dolt who called Ben first out then in the EZ on his phantom TD against Seattle in XL.

And Obama wins the Presidential election by a landslide as 95% of the 200 million Americans who watched NFL over the last 12 months approve his message during the referee lockout.

RT @SI_PeterKing: I'm hearing NFLRA negotiator Scott Green has notified officials that a deal is not imminent. Stay tuned, obviously.

Again, ESPN jumped the gun in an attempt to be the world wide leader in breaking incorrect news.

DeMaurice Smith: Having done this before, everyone needs to wait until the ink is dry.

Friggen Mortensen making stuff up to be the guy that says he broke it

Sounding more and more like you're right. This happens a lot I feel when a deal is close though, that sides start tempering expectations, possibly in an attempt to squeeze one last demand out of the other side. At this point I'm expecting something to get done (though maybe not in time for Sunday), but until I hear something official I'll remain skeptical and nervous.

Re: Lockout IS NOT OVER...

NFLRA negotiator Scott Green has notified officials that a deal is not imminent.

Feel free to merge with other lockout thread once title is updated...

the genie is out of the bottle....after the past hour, if this turns out to be a hoax, the backlash of disappointment will be tsunami-like...making this weekend's games even more of a "must watch"...just to see the league cut off its' nose to spite its' face with their circus clown "refs' finally turning the schedule into a Hanna Barbera cartoon

the lemonade is made, but both sides are trying to squeeze the last drops

I actually like that this was leaked out, it puts more pressure on both sides to come to an agreement soon. Even if it's inaccurate, it's still pressure to do something.

They always do stuff like this, so that even if a deal is reached in January ESPN will claim that they broke the news first

I would tend to agree...except that Captain Oblivious, aka The Omissioner, seems to be immune to any pressure at all.

Mods, maybe the thread tiltle should be edited?

Since Thursday's game is such a dog, not having this deal in place will give me a perfect reason not to watch it.

Take your time guys. Friday's soon enough.
