OT: Tomlinson retires

If I have to watch Faulk and Tomlinson work together on the NFL Network? :bricks:

The two of them could have a segment called "Who's more bitter?" where they discuss the Patriots.

Hes one of the best of all time, you guys are haters.

He was a whiny little jagoff who shriveled up like a grape when the pressure went up (3.57 y/a in the playoffs). His legacy will be that of a man riding a stationary bike while his QB played with a shredded ACL.

But, just for you, Here's the immortal LdT at his playoff best:

Douche or not, he's one of the all time greats at a position where you need to prove it every day.

Great player. Not a jerk to the point of being a blemish on the game. Good riddance anyway.

An all-time great regular season RB, and to be fair his failures to make an imprint on the postseason probably had a lot to do with the fact that, by the time the Chargers got there, they'd pretty consistently ridden him into the ground already. Not his fault that he was always hurt (and 350-400 touches in) by that point.

That said, he was also a jerk and I'm glad that he's out of the league.

Started every game but one for eight years, all 1,000 yard seasons. Sorry, but there's no way he wasn't playing hurt a lot, no matter what a jerk he was later. I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt if he couldn't go in a game later.

I, for one, am sorry to hear this news. I really appreciated his influence as a mentor to young Jets players, teaching them to sulk and to blame others for their problems.

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York lists among Tomlinson's "legacy" an interview in which he blasts the Jets, from Mark Sanchez to Rex Ryan, calling the internal dissention "as bad as any I've ever been around":

LaDainian Tomlinson gave New York Jets everything he had including criticism - ESPN New York

Tomlinson was easily the best running back since at least Marshall Faulk. And he was probably also the biggest crybaby since at least Marshall Faulk.

The ultimate fanboy and fantasy geek's running back....give me Antowain Smith circa 01 over Tomlinson in a playoff game any day of the week and twice on Sunday....the fantasy geeks must be crying on their keyboards

Retiring without a single ring, maybe he gets it from his coach(es)?

LOL'd at that.

remember when he cried when we celebrated on his field? hahah

No, we are realists. He ABSOLUTELY was one of the best of all time. He also was one of the biggest egotistical whiners of all time.

Your first post sucks. Here's hoping it was just a minor stumble out of the gate.

heh...what a total joke....best of all time???...let's just run down a list of say, ten running backs compared to Lady T...

Jim Brown versus Tomli...er...sorry Jim...please don't kill me...it's this SD fan not me...

Barry Sanders or LaDa...uh....dur..this is nutty

Sweetness or...heh..C'MON MAN

Earl Campbell just ran Lady T over while he was sitting out a playoff game with a bruised ego...sawree....no comparison

Eric ****erson or...or what???...who would take Lady Crybaby over Eric???

O.J. Simpson...Gale Sayers...John Riggins...Emmitt Smith...Marshall Faulk

oh look...this is just tiresome...let's try THIS...here is what THIS running back did in the NFL for HIS career

Super Bowl MVP
2 Time Super Bowl Champion
Rookie of the Year
Ran for 10,000+ yards in his career
NFL Comeback Player of the Year
14 year NFL veteran

Ottis "My Man" Anderson...choke THAT down your sun, sand and surf choked pie hole...

Tomlinson played in a weak sister division on stacked teams in San Diego and came up small OR missing in every big game they ever played...the Jets???...total joke shadow of his former SD self....go skateboarding and ride it off sonny....

Tomlinson -- always known as a classy, thoughtful player

Ohhh, REAAAAALLLLY??????

I too, won't miss him at all.

Now don't get me wrong I love LDT and I wish nothing but happiness to him and his family but make no mistake I hope he burns in eternal hell-fire and am SOOOO happy he retired without a ring, that low-life knuckle dragging whining baby of a walking vagina excuse for a fottball player, but I will not join in on the personal attacks that some of my fellow boardies have engaged in. I mean the guy was a class-act he said so himself!

who in their right mind puts a tattoo of the Jets logo on their body? This proves how unstable Com-plain-ian is.

Adios...and stay classy

On the subject of top 5, I'd be interested to see which one of Barry Sanders, Eric ****erson, Jim Brown, Emmit Smith and Walter Payton Tomlinson would supplant. That's a base starting point.

He was a great back and I dont think there's a Patriot's fan here that wouldnt love to have him on the team in his prime, but he won't get much respect on this board because of his garbage personality.
