How much of an idiot is Gary Tanguay?

When I first looked at the title of this thread, I automatically assumed Rob0729 wrote it.

One of the best imitations on the WEEI Whiner Line is a guy who does Gary Tanguay, The Little Man With A Big Voice. I love that.

Tanguay is an idiot that actually believed a fellow idiot that he looked good in those weird black retro plastic goggles that were in style when Barry Goldwater ran for President in 1964. He sort of looks like a fat white pygmy Kurt Rambis.

He creeps me out.

Did NESN give him a free trip to the Super Bowl? Morons.

You mean CSNNE.
Gary Tanguay is an empty vessel. Talks a lot but doesn't say anything of substance.
Seems like the Boston media is chock full of the type. It honestly makes me wonder what the level of IQ is needed to get through journalism school. It can't be that high judging by most of the Boston media. Can you type cliches really fast on a laptop? Can you say something that is not based in any concrete evidence but pass it off as fact? Can you insult and or show complete disdain and contempt for the local sport fans? If you answer yes to one or more of the above then you too can be a Boston Mediot.

First, to say the the Pats are "happy to be there" is such a slap in the face to the organization. As for the fans, he is correct. Just reading all the garbage from fans on this board I have never seen such an insecure fan base. Some act like the Pats should be thankful to be on the same field. Like seriously? I am a Yankees fan, and even when our team is prob not the best we still think we are going to win it EVERY year regardless of their weaknesses.
No you don't. You just say you do.

He and ****erson got fat while I was in Asia.
But, it will be impossible for them to any dumber while you're back in RI...assuming you are.

Do you all just sit around all day waiting for someone to mention the Pats so you can run here and post about how much of a moron they are? Why in the hell are you caring abuot this nobody?

Someone just needs to merge all these threads

I always knew he was an idiot and knew nothing about sports, but today was just too much. He told Troy Brown he thinks the Pats are playing with house money because even Pats fans didn't expect them to make the SB and just being there is good in and of itself.

What the f*** kind of mentality is that? This isn't the 85 bears we're playing. This is a good but arrogant and overconfident team with flaws that went 9-7 in the regular season for a reason.

This game is a must win. The Patriots lose this, and we get all the "Giants own Pats" talk..."Coughlin has two SBs" "Brady has lost two SBs" etc. . Winning this game shuts up A LOT of people and pisses off the Tom Jackson's of the world, fans of other teams that are Pats haters, Jets fans, Giants fans, Colts fans, Rex Ryan (well I doubt that one) and basically makes Brady either the consensus 1st or 2nd best qb of all time with Montana.

I've never hated a team more than this Giants team. Not even the 2000s Colts or the Yankees before the Sox won it all.

I could watch the rest of Brady and Belichick's time together and genuinely not care if they won it all again. Sure I'd want them to, but I could just relax knowing they have 4 together and beat the Giants in the house the Giants QB equally ugly and annoying brother played in.

The Pats would be even MORE hated if that's possible. Tom Jackson would go home and get consolation sex from his husband and Colts fans would seek therapy.

More importantly, Brady would be 1/2 or 1a/1b without a doubt.

So yeah Tanguay, this game doesn't matter, Belichick is just happy to be there lol.

yeah I agree its a must win if we want to stand out in history as #1 destiny, with a few more elite years with Brady at the helm.

I hate the Giants too and I would have a very tough time dealing with another loss from those little peckers. For lack of a better word.

It would be horrible they beat us.. just horrible.. I think we have the better over all team so we should technically win. We are FAVORED to win.

Reading & listening to all the mediots like Tanquay hs me asking myself why the hell aren't I doing thier jobs?
Sure as hell couldn't do worse & definately better than most.

What a great gig!

No we watch shows that are Pats related, this is a good show except for when the munchkin is on saying dumb things, Zolak's good, Troy's on this week too.

I saw this New England team as a Superbowl contender from the beginning.
The Pittsburgh game worried me...
But after the loss to the New York Giants I started telling everyone that I saw a huge stride made by the New England defense and if it continued to improve like that we would be in a very good position once the post season came around. NFL fans on a forum I post at laughed at my prediction.

I posted on a packer forum for the hell of it in November that we were going to Indianapolis. They thought that was hillarious.
Too bad I wasn't joking.

There's been nothing but naysayers this entire season, ever since the beginning. Our local media hasn't been willing to promote any enthusiasm (not that we need them to) because none of them want to be wrong. That's what they do - they play it safe.

The bottom line is this: We shouldn't be scared of the New York Giants. We should respect their ability to play good football but we shouldn't be scared of them. We are the superior football team.

This timid attitude towards them is nothing but SB42 trauma and defensive concerns that haven't been relevant for weeks.

If New England plays typical New England Patriot football like it has we're going to decisively beat the New York Giants and i'm sick of hearing otherwise.

Thank God I'm not a baseball fan!

Let me put it this way:
I firmly believe the Baltimore Ravens were the best team we had to play this season for a Superbowl ring. The AFC Championship was our Superbowl.
The Ravens got a lot of gifts from the officials that game, including a touchdown that should have been called back with a 15 yard penalty.

And we beat them regardless.

If we can beat the Baltimore Ravens with the officials giving them gifts, we can handle the 9-7 Giants in Indy.

Tanguay is an idiot. However he's not off base on this. And the Krafts have admitted as much in talking about the satisfaction of just getting here and embracing these moments because as in life they don't always last let alone pan out for reasons beyond your control. There has been a lot of talk about this on the radio this week and even heading into the AFCC. It doesn't mean they don't want to win or aren't going to try to. Capitalizing is always the goal once you get this opportunity. It just means as an organization they have perspective about this season and seasons in general. And this team. They expected to win in 2007. No reason not to. But in many respects the pressure of those expectations probably bit that team in the ass and correctly taught them to assume nothing. Anyone who expected this team to win it all back in say week 10 is just underscoring how irrational fan bases can be - in predicting or assuming any outcome.

Even Borges finally gets it. 5 trips in 11 years is an accomplishment in and of itself. That's all. If they don't win the world won't end, although some here will apparently once again persist in making the case that it might as well have. Because the future of this team who are young and have rebuilt the core and continue to rebuild the defense and have 5 picks in the top 100 players drafted 8 weeks from now and who sit in excellent shape cap wise to deal with FA because they don't make crippling shortsighted mistakes again clearly burns bright.

yeah..sort of vindication for the "homers"...although I never considered being a homer a detriment to the team or me as a fan...but it's still pretty good to have the squawking of the CL's finally put on mute for a while.

There's a distinction that needs to be made between a Patriots homer and a Patriots optimist. Homers see no fault in the Patriots where optimists are guarded positivists with the capability for critical thought and analysis.

well...guess I'm a Pats optimist...although I never thought they had a chance to make the Super Bowl this season....the incessant "everything is bad..this player is bad...this coach is bad...Belichick bad...Brady bad...schedule bad...Jets are better and that's bad...it's all crumbling because of bad loss to Steelers...bad bad bad bad"..every freakin' week, even as the team closed in on the dyam playoffs...it never stopped all season...now they've run out of things to fret over and to make these delusional paranoid proclamations of doom day after friggin' day...it's refreshing...just a regular fanbase again looking forward a little nervously to the penultimate game...for the FIFTH time in just over a decade...I don't know about anyone else but I'M enjoying this...

So should we all Joker.

Same here. At first, I thought this was about a former Avalanche hockey player or something.

I always think it's a type of alcohol.
