Bring on the Ravens

Really? 4th ranked pass D and the secondary is not that good? I can certainly see Webb containing Welker one on one, and Ed Reed is Ed Reed ...

Webb is good but he is no Revis. And he will not stop Welker one on one. It won't happen. If the Ravens go man and don't give Webb safety help Welker will have a field day.

Ed Reed and Webb are outstanding. Pollard is solid in the run the game. Williams flat out sucks and I'm not a fan of Smith.

I expect a slight chance that cam cameron outsmarts himself and comes out taking shots down the field against this secondary instead of relying on rice at the start. That could set the tone of the game how those deep shots turn out.

Ummmmm, I'm not sure that CC would come out slinging with Flacco. Flacco has struggled with accuracy all year (his 57.7% is well below his prior years). CC has to know that the one bright spot in our defense this year has been our ability to pick off inaccurate QB's or errant passes.

Our 23 Int's rank t2nd in the NFL. Nothing would damage his QB's psyche more then throwing a quick Int early in the game.

Risk/reward is too great in a playoff game. They will not get cute. They will run Ray Rice until we can prove we can stop him, and then if they need to put it into Flacco's hands they will. Anything else is nuts.

If he does he is a fool for three reasons.

1. I think BAL want to slow the game way down and keep TB off the field. If it's a track meet their defense won't last 4 Qtrs.
2. Flacco MUST get off to a strong start, develop good tempo and have that confidence throwing the ball. That was their strategy last year and it worked very well.
3. Ge the ball into Rice's hands as much as possible. He is their playmaker.

No arguments there. Flacco must make some plays, but Rice is the real key for us in this game. Flacco going deep shoulld be just a compliment to Rice, and help prevent NE from stacking the box on us.

This would be the perfect time to finally use Lee Evans. I cant figure out why he's only thrown to 1 time a game, 2 at the most

Evans has always been a enigma w/ BUF who we've seen a lot of. He had some good games vs the Pats but seems to have these stretches of poor play. He should have been an outstanding 3rd WR for BAL this year. Good short/mid field route runner. Decent speed. He had a nice catch vs HOU. maybe hes figured it out and is 100% healthy now.

I think the ravens are going to copy what the dolphins did in the 2nd game. They doubled gronk and hern and brought relentless pressure and hit welker at the LOS. Brady was harrassed as much in the game as any. Light and mankins being out didnt help either . If the ravens can replicate that first quarter the dolphins had vs us, they have a good chance. I just hope the pats dont forget the running game. There will chances to run effectively i think in this game and hopefully we dont have braincramps of shot gun in 3rd and 1 like we did vs the fins.

Actually, the reason why Flacco's % is so low is because CC is too infatuated with throwing bombs left and right. He goes for low percentage plays far too often for my liking.

Last year, when we didnt even have anything resembling a deep threat (Boldin and Mason), Flacco threw more deep passes than every QB in the league other than Rivers.
Not much has changed this year.

That is true.

Only thing I can say in his defense is that he suffered from five drops last week, so that 14 -27 performance last week is a bit decieving. However, it doesn't matter who's fault it is, bottom line is, we cant drop 5 passes and expect to beat NE.

I throw out his 08 and 09 playoff runs. Rookie QB and he was hurt in 09.

His game vs/ Pitt last year was downright awful. In order to go to the next level, those are the games that Flacco needs to win.

HOUs defense is vastly underrated. He missed some throws.

You said we faced only one highly productive offense this year, and they threw us a beat down.

You faced only one elite defense, and they threw you a beat down.

No..... that's not really what I said.

You suffered a 20 point beatdown by a 2nd tier offense in a game that was over by 4 minutes into the 3rd quarter.

We suffered an 8 point loss that was finally decided in the last 8 seconds of the game when we got sacked for a safety. We actually had a chance to win going into that possession with under a minute to play.

Two totally different games. One was competitive and the other was not.

Their defense (Houston) is actually the reason why I feel Flacco played pretty decently. Flacco getting sacked by two and three guys at a time, all the drops, and he still throws 2 TDs and no turnovers.

Then last year, he was outstanding against a stout KC defense in Arrowhead in the playoffs. He needs to build on that game and this one to shed the label as a postseason underperformer.

Beating Brady in the AFCCG would do wonders. So .... fingers crossed ....

Give me a break. I could EASILY make excuses for half of those losses, but unlike a lot of you guys around here, I wont do that. I'll just say that even with all the "variables", you guys have escaped with wins. Now, a win is a win. But face the reality that one play here, one questionable flag there, and we are talking a whole new ball game.

Brady smashed our secondary? lmao...

Really are you sure about that?

Just to make it easy I will quote you.

We can win because we are a flatout better team. They robbed us of a win in 2007 (thanks refs and Rex Ryan), escaped with a win in 2009 (thanks for dropping the game winner with seconds left Clayton) and eeked out a 23 - 20 last year.
And notice all these games are in their house.

Their luck against us is running short.

I was at that game and the only reason that game was close is because the Refs let you (like every team down the stretch) hold, tackle and abuse our receivers all over the field. The only legitimate complaint you could make about the refs is that they let it go all game and then call a late Defensive holding. But it was a blatant hold, the defender was practically bear hugging Watson deep into the endzone and let go when Watson made his break.

So don't come on here spouting stupid ****. So far your football knowledge and reasoning has been piss poor and the only person over on that board that sounds more ignorant than you is that Ravens 3 moron.

It is very clear that you have a very limited knowledge of our team. And either over estimate Webb's abilities or underestimate Welker's. And Branch isn't a joke. He may not be what he once was, but let Ravens secondary sleep on him and he will put up some big numbers.

We didn't lose because the Pittsburgh defense was "elite." We lost because they pulled a 180 and played man to man instead of zone which they played every other time they faced us, yet we only lost by one TD.

I'm amused by the fact that you and most every other Ravens fans keep bringing up 2009 even though all of you don't get that only 16 players from that year are still on the team.

Don't forget we also got cheated a TD in this game. Gronk was clearly behind that line when he caught the ball.... still, Steelers, another team we own.

Either way, what do either of those games matter?? It means nothing!

A loss is a loss. PIT proved that by playing great defense, you can be beaten.

Ladarius Webb is suddenly one of the best CBs in the AFC ? Wasn't he just your return guy at the start of the year? Forced into action because of injury?

I do believe i like the guy who leads the NFL in receptions since 07 going against him.

Jarrett Johnson? Vaguely remember if this guy was even a factor in 2010.
Ed Reed is also hobbled. I'll take the best TE in the NFL for this matchup.

Who do you offer against Branch or AH who lines up everywhere.

This will be by far the best offense you have faced all year and a watered down version of it beat you in 2010.

Actually Webb had a pro bowl calibar year. I would say he was a top 5 CB this season.

Yeah, I stand by what I said. But I'm not going to come in your house and make excuses, like the BS excuses I heard from this board regarding the playoff loss.

So don't come on here spouting stupid ****. So far your football knowledge and reasoning has been piss poor and the only person over on that board that sounds more ignorant than you is that Ravens 3 moron.

If you say so. I know it sucks getting called on BS, so I understand why my reasoning appears piss poor to someone like you.

He had like 6 completions in the only game your team beat us in. Thats all

You do realize he didn't have to throw the ball that day don't you?

We were up 21-0 before he threw his first pass. Not sure how out of that paragraph, that's what you came up with.

What so many people fail to realize is that stats are all relative. While Baltimore and Pitt's defenses are above average they did benefit by getting to go against Colt McCoy twice, Andy Dalton twice (he's not bad but they run a conservative offense), and a cast of NFC West QBs including heart throbs John Skelton, Kevin Kolb, Sam Bradford, Charlie Whitehurst, Tarvaris Jackson, and Alex Smith. So half of Baltimore's and Pittsburgh's schedules (that's eight games for the mathematically challenged) were against teams that don't know how to air it out.

That's a very good point. I haven't heard much mention of this, neither on the board, nor in the media.

If you say so. I know it sucks getting called on BS, so I understand why my reasoning appears piss poor to someone like you.

You have brought very little reasoning to any of your arguments. Everything you stated has been ra-ra fratboy BS. Name one thing I have posted in this thread that is not accurate in your opinion. Just one and then support that opinion with some facts and then we'll talk about being called on BS.

So far the only one that has been caught trying to bull**** people is you with your "Unlike you guys I don't make excuses for our losses" crap.

"Smackeddown by an elite defense" - Not how that game went at all. The Steelers destroyed us early on with Miller over the middle. Brought out Man coverage etc....

"Webb will handle Welker one on one" - That hasn't happened all year. Even Revis had safety help when he covered Welker. Webb is no Revis.

"elite defense": Based on the teams that you played and where they rank scoring wise I don't think your defense is elite. I think you have a very good and a very proud defense that beat up on ****ty offenses and the numbers prove it. Read my sig.

"our defense sucks": yet they don't. They are average nothing more nothing less. It looks ugly at times but overall they produce. 15th in the league in scoring defense 0.8 PPG behind Jacksonville who is 11th in the league. 0.9 behind Philly for 10. Not exactly the Bucs.

You say you wouldn't make excuses, then we see you *****ing and moaning on your board with every excuse possible. You're a joke.

Just like the rest of your fans coming in here and complaining we're confident, then going back to the Ravens board and talking far more **** than we are.

Fair enough.

This season his passing percentage sucked more than any. He has digressed and its evident. He has 18 TDs and 12 INTs in the reg season. I hear he asked for an extension from the Ravens and they turned him down.

Honestly, Joe couldnt drive the ball downfield at all. He scored 2 TDs on giveaways by the Texans in the redzone.
