Mike Wright has another concussion

The Pats can take care of the roster his health is the issue now.

Agree 100%. Even if he wants to keep playing, someone should step in and save Mike Wright. Like a corner man in boxing who knows it is dangerous for his fighter to continue even if the fighter wants to push on. Someone needs to toss the towel for this good man.

As much as I hate to say it, I agree. If he can't get through two games (he did play against the G-Men) without a concussion, he really needs to be thinking about retirement.

OTOH, money is not quite as important an issue as it used to be, b/c the new CBA allows players who are forced to retire b/c of injuries to collect up to $1.5M in salary over two years.

Guys - Mike is guaranteed the rest of his contract for this year because he was on the roster as of September 9th. In addition, he'd get another $1 million next year.

I hate that Wright got another concussion. I was one of the few who said he should hang it up this past off-season because I've seen what it can do to great athletes (Pat LaFontaine, Marc Savard, Eric Lindros, Dave Duerson, etc).

I also have to wonder if Wright switched helmets to a safer version or if he stuck with the same one from last year. I noticed that Brady switched helmets.

One would also wonder if Wright has that special mouth guard that one dentist developed that also is supposed to help prevent concussions.

Either way, Mike should hand them up. For his family.

Put Wright on IR and Re-Sign Moore would be best for Mike's health and the team

Better yet Mike should retire,we don't need another Ted Johnson scenerio Where injury exceeds football career

Thanks for the memories Mike, but you really need to get out now while the gettin's good.

Time to bring back Gerard Warren.

No complaints here. I would be all for either Moore (DE) or Warren (DT), depending on how Belichick would like to use the spot on the D-line..IF he chooses to use it on the D-line, although one would certainly assume that he would.

Since Wright was utilized primarily as an inside DT, I would think that you may be correct that Warren will be one of the first to come to mind. Especially if he is simply replacing one for the other. However, it will remain to be seen if Belichick wants someone of more versatility for both inside and out.

Then again, Mike is a competitor, and we aren't even sure as to what extent the latest concussion is. Even though it doesn't bode too well that he has already gotten another one, I am not going to write him off just yet.

A concussion is a concussion. The extent of it doesnt matter to me at this point. Wright has a history of concussion problems and it's not good that he missed most of last season because of concussion and then has another one in his FIRST game back.

We are deeper at DE considering we have Carter, Ellis, Anderson, Cunningham, Ninkovich.

DT we only have Wilfork, Haynesworth, Love, Pryor... and Haynesworth has never played a full 16 game season. Bringing G Warren back would be the best thing to do.

Oh, no doubt. It's horrible to hear.

Regardless, I am not writing him off until we hear more about it.

I was another of those who said hang it up.

We were in the minority, I think, but we weren't alone.

It's not an either/or. He should go on IR. Then, at the end of the season, he should retire, and collect his $1 million for 2012.

Mike should hang it up, no doubt about that, but will he? That's another question that we have to wait for.

If he retires does he pick up his 1 million for 2012 or is retirement a forfeit of that money?

I was so surprised (in a good way) to see him playing, but it seems like the game has become a real health risk for him. Heal up Mike and please do what's best for yourself in the future.

The Patriots have a history of paying out this money to a player who retires because of health when the organization isn't legally obligated to. I forget who it was (Harrison, Bruschi, Neal?) but some, in the past couple of years, retired because of injury and the Pats did the right thing.

Time for Mike to hang 'em up, like what has been said he's been a good player, its unfortunate that this happened to him.

They should have evaluated and IR him, this way he will get team supervised medical care for the concussion issue.

I'll echo most of the thoughts here. Mike, you've been a great Patriot, but concussion problems don't get better. They only get worse. Please retire and take care of yourself.

As for the team, resign Warren for the roster spot and let Pryor take the extra snaps inside in that role. I thought he did a pretty good job there on Monday night and always saw him as having a Mike Wright type of play style. If he lives up to that potential, we'll be fine.

He should hang em up. Like him as a player but I don't think there's much of a drop off from him to G. Warren.

I'm sure that all the medical staff(s) involved will look at this carefully before giving Wright their best guess on his prognosis. I wish Mike well, and I hope he has a complete recovery, whether he returns to football or not.
