Easy, Jets. We play them twice a year and it's a rivalry game.

The pats own the steelers, the colts I think are on their way to losing the division and possibly missing the playoffs, the ravens and jets have the d that can give brady fits. While I have hope for this d to be much improved that remains to be seen. The jets and ravens while may not have a really good offense, its has been good enough to beat the pats d of years past which is why they are the main threat to the pats.

And there defense, which declined a lot from 09 to 10 is going to decline again as the lost their best DL, best pass rusher and a bunch of depth and have added nothing of note.

Its posts like these that make Jet fans think all Pats fans are border line ******ed. Our defense declined from '09 to '10, but we still managed to finish 3rd in the NFL, something the Pats defense couldn't even come close to bragging about (25th). Also, we declined because our defense was so dominate in '09 (the next best team was 30 yards behind us in the stat rankings).

I don't even want to know who you think our best pass rusher is that we lost. I'm assuming you think its Jason Taylor. If thats your answer, then again, I feel sorry for you. Taylor was a complete bust last year minus the tackle of Moore for a safety in Pittsburgh. He was a rotational player that appeared mostly on 3rd downs. He was probably the 3rd or 4th best pass rusher on the team last year, for a team that wasn't known for pass rushing at all.

What depth have we lost besides receiver? QB, no. RB, no. OL, no. DL, we lost Ellis, but drafted 2 beasts with 1st and 2nd round grades attached to them. You can argue that they need time to develop, which I agree with, I fail to see that is losing depth. LB, no. CB, no. S, no.

We're fielding almost the same team as last year minus our receiving corp. Unless, you think we're in trouble because we didn't resign our punter?

Andy Johnson is a special type of Pats fan. I've been to Jet's Insider and he's our own DWC :)

Ha true true. I just like calling out fans of other teams when they spew garbage like that.

Anyway back to the original topic, other then the Jets for the simple reason they're in the same division, I think the Chargers can be very good this year, and pose a big threat to the rest of the AFC. #1 offense and defense last year, but didn't make the playoffs due to poor special teams play, which cost them a handful of games. Unfortunately, Norv is still there, but I see them as a big rebound team this year.

The Pats getting Ellis from the Jets is a Win for the Pats Offense PLUS a Win for the Pats Defense...

It's a loss for the Jets Defense no matter how you spin it....

One less problem for the Pats OL...one less weapon for the Jets D..

Until Ellis and Wilkerson actually face NFL talent...they are as big a ??? as the Patriot rookies....

San Diego always plays Pats tough......so I voted SD......

Jets, Ravens, Colts are still dangerous.

Don't forget we almost lost to the Colts last year. I do think they're getting worse every year though.

Chargers are always a threat too.

I feel ashamed of this board because the jets are leading this poll.

Do you watch the NFL?

If you do, you'll notice that it was the Jets who knocked us out last year and the Jets who made it to the AFCCG the last 2 years in a row.

Just cause I hate the Jets doesn't change anything, they're our main rival, they're our biggest competition for the division and invariably they'll be our biggest competition in the playoffs. At least I hope we A) make it to the playoffs and B) face the Jets again.

I want revenge.

Its a strong possibility its a loss for us for the reasons you said, but its not definite by any stretch of the imagination. What if the two jets rookies (one of which is going to start from day 1) has a bigger impact than Ellis did last year? Then it wouldn't be a loss at all. It would be a gain for us, and a loss for you.

I hear you brother, Ellis is still a stud though and you know he will bring his beast for when the Jets play the Pats.

Not sure how any Pat fan can consider any team more of a threat then the Jets considering recent history. IMHO

Jets are currently a worse team than they were last season. Pats went 14-2 with the youngest defense in the NFL. I'm not worried about the Jets who lost a lot of players and didn't add much.

There are filth like JI and gangreen in existence, piss off. This forum actually shows maturity unlike those pathetic forums.

See, I disagree with this. You're ignoring health and player progression. Besides Braylon, Cotchery and Smith (wildcat/KR), we lost all role players. Ellis and Taylor were both role players, well past their prime. Their production can be easily replaced (unless Ellis wants to show up every game like he did in NE). The Patriots lost some role players too. These people can be replaced, as I'm sure many posters here have noted.

We gained a very good #2 receiver, who isn't as good as Braylon, but much better than Cotchery. So thats an addition. With the new kickoff return rules, Smiths value completely plummets to being a gimmick wildcat player (literally 2-3 plays a game). Now I liked Smith a lot, he was absolutely tremendous, but his value has gone down, and Mike Westhoff has shown he can plug just about anyone into our return game and be successful (Smith, Leon Washington, Justin Miller, Chad Morton...the list goes on)

Onto player progression. You think because of what we did through FA, that we can't be better than last year. This is a fallacy, and ignores any player progression that we already have (ironically you use this in your favor by saying NE has the youngest defense and will most likely be better; didn't say that last part, but thats what you meant):

-Sanchez should be better in yr 3 vs yr 2
-Our running game should be better with a young Greene getting the lions share of touches with McKnight/LT spelling him for some more
-Our best pass rusher, Calvin Pace is now 100% healthy vs the 20% Rex said he was last year
-Leonhard, the captain of our defense, is now fully healthy
-Rex said he only used 3 d-linemen last year which is why we had trouble getting to the QB. They weren't fresh late in games. This year he's using 5-6 men on the line in different sets
-Cromartie now has a full yr in Rexs system
-Brodney Pool now has a full yr in Rex system
-Revis is healthy and in shape this yr vs last year

Some of these things will happen, some will not. My point is though, you completely ignore that they COULD happen.

The jets are not a threat..the real indicator is the 45-3 game, not the playoff game. Its like the superbowl against the giants, you play that game 10 times, the pats destroy them atleast 8 out of the 10 games. I dont give a crap about their back to back afc championship games, only one of them count..it is a FACT that their playoff run two years ago was a gift, no other way to spin it.

yea ok, they beat the pats last year in the playoffs with some special def. game plan. Do you really think that will work agains BB twice? Like I said before, ask miami how running some game plan that BB has never sceen before twice works for you..it doesnt, just once, if your lucky.

I watch the nfl, the jets suck people. They have been luck the last two years. Do you have any idea how many dropped INTs sanchez has thrown? Tons. He is lucky, and he still sucks so what does that tell you?

I wish we played the jets 16 times a year.

Ya there posts like that everywhere, including this forum. Don't pretend like it doesn't exist here. I've seen a few atrocious posts here, including the one I quoted above.

This is a good site though, much like TGG. Never been on JI, so I can't comment on it. Scout.com is pretty good too, but is more low key with much fewer posters.

Colts this year. I suspect the jets will take too many injuries to manage. How long can they ride the no injury luck streak? And they have no depth.

And I know it is preseason but still ... Pitt had a 16 to 7 LOSS to the Redskins?? Really?

Let me say that again. 16. to 7. Loss. To the REDSKINS.

Did anyone see that game? What happened? o_O

Really? You're taking the first preseason game as a predictor of something?:confused: :bricks:
