Mark Sanchez for the win!

Well, I agree Mark Sanchez is very likely to improve - mostly because his regular season numbers continue to be near the bottom of the barrel. Fortunately for the Jets, he has raised his game in the playoffs.

Actually, it was a friendly way to avoid getting into it with you over something that doesn't matter anymore, since we've done little but disagree lately. However, since you've decided to continue with the crap in your follow up, as is typical of your recent responses, I'll remember that in the future.

The Jets were borderline SB contender last year, going 11-5 and reaching the AFCCG, and they've lost nothing significant beyond Edwards, unless you're going to overrate Ellis and Woody.

Same running backs
Same QB
4 of 5 on the O-line are the same (Slauson was a starter LAST YEAR)
Same TE
1 new WR

huge upgrade of defensive secondary w/Nnamdi
same LBs
Unknown situation at D-line, but certainly not guaranteed to be significantly worse, and the team devoted multiple draft picks to the positions there.

You can play the wishful thinking game all you want, about "maybe not as good", but that's true of every team, at every position, and any team relying upon Albert Haynesworth has no call for playing the worst case scenario game with its rivals. Nnamdi would have made them Super Bowl contenders, once again held hostage to Sanchez.

Now, I'm done discussing this with you, and I consider the deference and extra respect that I've generally given you to be no longer required.
I'll be honest and say that I sit somewhere in the middle between yours and PFK's post. I can see both sides of the argument but do teeter towards Nnamdi pushing them over the top as a contender. The defense would have been ridiculous.

The Jets success is going to rest on the shoulders of Mark Sanchez's development now that they are basically returning the same skill position players.

Sanchez has to improve on his reg season **** numbers. If not then a big LOL

He's is good for some horrible INT's

The jets are not contenders.

The new york fans and media may not openly admit it, but the jets 42 years afc championship drought/0 Wins and 4 losses is in their heads.

The jets fans and team remind me so much of the 2000s cubs. Great franchise in a long drought hires a loudmouth personality as their coach (rex ryan/lou pinella) and sign big names to their teams in order to hide the stigma.

The jets have about 2-3 seasons before they turn the hot seat on rex.

The only way the Jets are contenders is if Sanchez is throwing Brady like numbers and most of us know he is a long long ways away. But with his lack of WR's right now and other big Q's on that team..they are second tier.

Wow, a guy you traded up to the top 5 to get and has been so terrible that he could improve. You just as easily could have said Gholston if he was still on the team. Nowhere to go but up.

If Sanchez losing weapons and getting better is your team's big hope then you're more screwed than I thought.

More like Sanchez for the loss!

I hate the Jets as much as anybody but this thread is getting silly. The Jets have a great defensive team, a great coach, and an ok offense. They've gone very deep in the playoffs two years in a row and they have a very similar team this year (not the same, but similar). The off-season isn't over and we haven't seen their rookies on the field.

Writing them off as contenders is premature.

The "have adam sandler call aso" thing is wicked retahded though.

I don't i think pats have really pressured him in a game. Every time he's in the pocket, the pats just play back and let him make his throws.

Plaxico is in the mix. Our DB's are capable of covering this criminal:) Go shoot ur self in the leg again in a nightclub

Plax is a true Patriot asserting his 2nd amendment rights!

Sometimes thats the best way to play Sanchez... lol:p

Can you name one young player on the Jets that could be on the verge of breaking out

^ Your words, I named one.

I win.:):)

It's silly to believe that the Jets aren't contenders. There is the potential for the Jets to improve as much as there is the potential to regress. Everyone seems to write off the potential that Sanchez may improve. I'm not a particular fan of his ability or project him to be an elite QB, but I'm certainly not going to discount them whilst Rex is in charge of the D.

It is all about Sanchez for the Jets.

The jets franchise has the same mentality as the cubs.

Even if they make it to afc championship again that entire team and city will get incredibly tight and will lose focus.

Rex ego has put so much pressure on that team and they are not biting as hard as he wants them to anymore.

Somewhere I saw that Joseph now with the texans had a better AYPG (allowable yards per game??) then Nnamdi and Joseph was targeted more than nnamdi... So logically can we say he is just as good as nnamdi? Atleast the Jets didnt get either. Eagles looking good but i still think DRC is overatted.

Oh right, they choke under pressure.

This started how long after they kicked the **** out of our Pats on the road?

They're a tough, well-coached team. They're taking a lot of risks between having a top heavy roster that's susceptible to injury and having some whackadoodles, and it's going to bite them sometime, but until it does they're a tough and worthy rival.

Agreed. I have been looking for a list that shows who they lost from last year, because if i recall they had a gigantic amount of FA

I didn't say under pressure...i said in the afc championship game.

There's a difference between the two. They get tight during afc championship games just like the cubs do in nlcs

Just look at how the jets played in the first half against the steelers in afc championship game.
