Jets refuse comment on claim Mark Sanchez had relationship with teenage girl

The Jets will have a comment soon...they just have to dig up that idiot Westwood or whatever his name is ,to get the correct Patriot blame spin...

The only reason why it's a story is because he's a public figure in a high profile city playing for a sports team full of controversy. 24/17 is not a big deal or even newsworthy. A real story is the Italian prime minister, in his 70s having sex with 17 year olds.

Not to defend the guy, but Berlusconi didn't actually have sex with the 17 year-old, though she did get gifts from him. It's an easy mistake to make since Berlusconi has been plagued by several other scandals including an 18 year-old and a prostitute.

As sleazy as it was, Berlusconi's defiant response actually made me laugh out loud:

'As always, I work without interruption and if occasionally I happen to look a beautiful girl in the face, it's better to like beautiful girls than to be gay,' he told a meeting at a motorcycle industry show in Milan.

Imagine Sanchez or the Jets releasing a statement like that. ESPN would implode.

Disagree. An NFL QB having sex with a girl in high school is certainly a story. Maybe not illegal, but shows lack of character.

Mark Sanchez turned 24 last November. A 24 year old and a 17 year old having sexual relations is only a story in states where the law prevents it. Chances are the girl used a fake ID to get wherever she met Sanchez and Sanchez had no idea she was 17. Also Sanchez is likely one of many 20+ year old guys who met this girl at a club and screwed her.

This is as stupid as when other fan bases acted like Tom Brady getting a woman pregnant outa wedlock was some despicable act.

Sanchez fits in perfectly with the Edwards, Cromartie, Holmes and the Jets ringleader Rex.

Eh, considering all the lack of character we've seen from other players (and coaches) recently this is really a minor blip - assuming we are indeed talking about a 17 year old and it was all consensual activity.

I reserve the right to change my mind if there is more to the story but for now there's just no "there" there.

As others have pointed out, he (allegedly) has form for this sort of thing. You have to wonder if there is something to it.

Given his pattern of behavior seeking much younger girls it is not improbable that he'll get himself in trouble with the law unless he matures. He's not an anonymous 24 yr old. As a celebrity, the risks for him and the rewards for a victim are much higher. If there's an adult in the Jets org (doubtful) they need to sit down and talk to this still kid.

Yeah, but only 'cuz THAT'S really cool. :rocker:

Re: For your enjoyment

now that made me laugh. and accually most statory rape laws, and i know this cause i had a female friend of mine accused of it, typically have age of consents at 16 but if hte age diffrence is more then 5 years or 7 years (so 21 or 23) it is still considered stataory rape.

In NY the age is 17 and the limit is 7 years so 24 can legally have sex with a 17 that being said it's still shady has hell and so borderline if they wanted to push it the could

Not really sure how it works in NY but in MA, even if the woman is 18, the age of consent, she can be too drunk to consent, thus incurring a nonstatutory rape charge for Sanchez. Probably more info would be required to know how to react to this. (Worked a gang rape case where this was part of the factual component.)

I doubt her family would want to go this route.

Did you read her facebook page?

She clearly was starstruck.

It will be hard to prove that he gave her drink and did that.

At least we finally found SOMETHING that the Rats won't comment on.

If it was consensual, then whatever... practically a non-story.

But I'm still disgusted by Roethlisberger's actions and the way the media and the NFL as a whole has treated it. He RAPED a girl (also, go read the police report, she was sobbing and bloodied afterwards), and this was the SECOND time. F*ck am I ever glad to see him lose tonight... he is complete scum.

well...at first they didn't comment on the Alosi tripping conspiracy...until they figured out the way to throw it all on him...with that idiot blaming the Patriots...so give it time...they'll probably say she was a Patriots fan

Re: For your enjoyment

Then why do the legal documents in the article refer to her as a minor?

I think that anyone under 18, or even 21 for some things, is technically a "minor." The age before which a person is considered capable of giving informed consent to a sexual act is a different matter.

The REAL question is whether or not she was 17 at the time of the alleged affair.

Regardless, there's all sorts of issues here, not just whether this was legal or consensual, but did he buy her alcohol? Tobacco? Did they ever cross the state line into New Jersey? Lots of ancillary snares and trips here for that young fellow.

Still, being how a JETS employee is involved, how can anyone NOT be surprised?
