2. You absolutely have to be capable or willing to run it AT SOME POINT, or you make a guy like Ryan's job about 110% easier. THAT was his gameplan--no Spy-ever, and let 2-3 Dlinemen futilely chase him around for 15 seconds while all his receivers futilely run around trying to get open against a 9 man secondary. At some point he has to do something with the ball.
Rex has to laughing his ass off that he was able to play a 9 man zone at times, or double cover every single one of Brady's targets in man.
Whats most/odd worrying is how they didnt know that was how the Jets would play, it's what they did against the colts. So if you run 7 DB's and cover the centre of the field, go 5 wide in shotgun, use the draw etc. We should be good enough at that after 07/08 - indeed when we did use it finally in the third quarter we scored
The Jets knew we'd run the 2TE set over and over and were confident of stopping the rub, so just sat back there
Gronk and Hernandez should have been used far more
Here's how I felt our chances were as the game went on:
Opening Kickoff- 90%
Brady's Interception- 50%
Folk's Missed Field Goal- 90%
Crumpler's Drop- 50%
Tomlinson's TD- 40%
Chung's Gaffe- 20%
Edwards' TD- 10%
First Drive of Second Half Stuffed- 5%
TD/2 pt conversion- 10%
Holmes' TD- 2%
Seeing them stall on that drive- 1%
So, in essence, according to my statistics, they dropped from a 2% to a 1% chance of winning the game at that point.
Yes, I'm half-kidding. But the drive was a result of all entire mental beatdown of that game and ensuing timidness. They had already lost, and it was obvious. I'm glad they at least got a field goal.
On top of that, does anybody still want to make an argument for why we don't need to improve our interior blocking (specifically C and RG)? The Jets were getting pressure up the middle all day and that man was typically being blocked by Koppen or Connolly.
TE's were invisible other than Crumpler
Connolly needs to be a backup.
Connolly needs to be a backup. If they want him to be a starter, let him convert to FB and start there.
Yeah um Gronk led the team in receiving yards so not sure where that came from. It's a lot harder to get the tight ends involved when you start Woodhead and don't try to establish any running game with BJGE early on that might open up play action and get favorable matchups for the tight ends.
Pouncey or Wisniewski should be available with the first pick in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft, according to NFL Draft Scout.Offseason wish list for the O-Line...
1. Re-sign Mankins.
2. Sign Light.
3. Draft Pouncey.
4. Draft a C.
ESPN has Pouncey listed at C and I thought he was a guard.....since you're the Florida fan I'll ask you is he capable of making a transition to center and being as good as his brother? I completely agree that they need to an early pick on a Connolly or Koppen replacement, but if Pouncey is gonna play guard he might not be worth a first rounder. At this point though it might be best to just draft both Pouncey and Wisnieski and stick whichever one is the worse C at RG.Of course he needs to be the back-up. Anybody that thought he should be the starter from the get-go just got a reminder of why he shouldn't have been. I'm hoping to see Pouncey or someone else lining up at RG for the New England Patriots next season. I'm also hoping to see someone else lining up at C for us as well. Having an actual fullback would be a welcome sight, I agree.
