4 Hurt and Elderly - Are Any Coming Back?

I think Taylor goes.

Morris stays as a camp body at least.

Faulk becomes a coach but stays fresh enough that we could call him in as a 3rd down back should Woody get hurt.

Isn't Neal still under contract in 2011? I think he stays unless his body totally shuts down, at least keep him around for depth and in case Mankins isn't resigned.

The other 3 I agree it's time to move on from them.

Woodhead is in his prime- but is 27 years old. I assume he has 3 more top-level producing seasons in front of him.

He turns 26 at end of season. Low mileage back like him easily has five years at least left of top production. Third down back is pretty much set for rest of Brady's career.

Confused.....

espn.com says he was born in dec of 1983.

Profootballreference.com says he was born in Jan 1985

wikipedia says jan '85

Nfl.com also says dec 1983.

I think you are right. Hes 25.

Weird.

Yeah I used PFR. Based on looks I'd err on the side of younger. ;)

Why anyone would want fred taylor back beats me. Guy has done nothing but waste a roster spotlast 2 years.

I think Faulk has the best chance of coming back, assuming he recovers. He provides versatility and depth to the team, IMO we will bring as least 2 RB draft picks into camp to replace Taylor and Morris.

Elderly is an interesting term to describe these guys, do not view them as that at all..

I think we've seen the end of Faulk as a Patriot. I don't believe he'll return to the team. He has effectively been replaced on the field by Woodhead. I know Faulk is a tremendous locker room guy which would be a huge blow to the young backs, but with a group of aging players it's going to be time to cut the cord.

I'm not so sure about Faulk showed his commitement to the Pats by recently signing a less then market value contract. Then while on IR he is still helping and traveling with the team which is unheard of. That and the fact he can still play in this league makes for a high potential of returning. Just because you have one weapon (in Woodhead) doesn't mean you shouldn't have 2.

I'm not sure about Morris, either he's going to retire or be released as we have Clayton, he could play in the FB role but also HB. I would like us to take Mark Ingram but I'm not sure it's going to happen even if he does forgo his senior year.

Don't see BB keeping two players for essentially the same role. Especially one that is 35 yrs old.
\

Its called depth.

Assuming Faulk has as much in the tank as when he went out on IR, there's no reason why there's not enough room on this team for Woodhead and Faulk. There's a lot of guys that, if we were able to clone them, I'm sure BB would hapilly find a place on the roster for, assuming they make the cut.

Everyone has to make the team each year - there's no reason to assume that only one of the Faulk/Woodhead combo stands a chance of making the 53 man roster at this stage

I'd also add that with the chance of there being a 18 game season, the rosters will be bigger.

That would allow the extra RB in Faulk. The extra O-Linemen etc.

Shadow roster is also depth.

Teams don't keep two CoP/3rd down backs unless one of them is a dynamo on STs.

Faulk, Taylor and Morris are not AMONG the oldest running backs in the league. They ARE the oldest three running backs in the nfl.

Elderly is an interesting term to describe these guys, do not view them as that at all..
