Just wanted to know if anyone felt the same,,,,just didn't enjoy that win. I know it sounds crazy but that's exactly how I felt. Was it because we didn't take advantage of those turnovers in the first half ? Or was it that I knew it would come back later in the game and hurt us that we didn't finish them off in the first half. The Patriots can lose and I still can say what a great game that was,,,,but yesterday it just didn't reach the level of last week's game. Great defense but rest average. Some weird play calls on Offense ! Still I predicted a 10-6 season and that is on track and playoffs guaranteed with that . Tommy on tv looked really frustrated and not comfortable at all thanks to Light . I know we beat a really good team and shouldn't be saying this but I didn't enjoy it. Call me stupid, crazy but really would appreciate if any friend felt the same. Many thanks and take care. Abdul

You do realize that the Pats would have to go 5-5 the rest of the way to get to 10-6. You really think that's going to happen?

As to the rest; just win, baby. Sometimes, people need to have a stiff drink to calm the nerves during the postgame, but a win is a wain.

We are spoiled. It used to be any win was a huge deal. Now we beat the team with the #1 offense and #1 defense in the league and we are dissapointed, because we didn't beat them by more. It used to be a Patriots fan didn't expect to win every week, usually it was the opposite. Now we complain when we don't kick the snot out of the opponent.

I'm sure Baltimore wasn't thrilled, nor was Pittsburg. You can put Denver in the category of being very embarassed. and then there are the Saints.

Bottom line is that they won. If they continue to do this for several more games in a row then there is cause for concern.

WTF did you want them to win 48-17? Dude, when the pats blew people out they didn't have toughness that they had and what they got back now.
The pats are tough now

I've got to be honest - I've LOVED the past couple of weeks. :D

I think people expect too much of this team. Ignoring the clichés about how the Superbowl-winning teams resembled this one, we have to remember that the win against Baltimore came off a bye-week at home. However, they managed to follow up a five-quarter game (against one of the toughest teams in the league) with a road trip to California, to face the Chargers, and emerged with the win. That's good work, no matter how you look at it.

Someone yesterday said that we couldn't rely on that sort of luck if the team did make the play offs. Whoever it was has a short memory of games in San Diego! I fully believe that you make your own luck, I don't think it's a coincidence that the change in the team philosophy is accompanied by a return to the ball seemingly bouncing our way when it matters.

A week ago, people were saying they'd only be impressed if the team could get past the Chargers as well. They did, and now people have to find another reason to worry! I don't know if the fan base is "spoiled", but I think we certainly all got a little too familiar with games that the Pats won by 20.

Hey Moose, thanks but i didn't mean winning big just the way we looked maybe and the play calling and probably not executing good. We are spoiled and I guess after the Ravens game I expected better or just the same. Hey you know what winning is great but sometimes it's how we do it that builds a greater feeling inside. Ok I am crazy ! Some games are ugly and that was an ugly win. Maybe I'll feel better later. Cheers all. Abdul

?? It does sound crazy.

Wins can come in many different ways. I am more than happy to come out of there with a "w" (as ugly as the game may have been)

I am just pissed my heart rate doubled from when we didn't get a first down and then the fg made it speed up more.

Comparatively did not think that this win was all that "ugly", we forced a whole bunch of turnovers against a poorly coached team... coincidentally this team is statistically has the best D and O in the league... we were in SoCal, for many of our young uns they had a huge win last week, and this week had to fly across country against a very good team....

Perhaps I simplify this too much, but it is all good... think that people are still enamored with the '07 season... so much so they do not see how much we have progressed over last year...

Two wins on the road at this stage is impressive, last year we won 1 on the road for the whole season...

we arent going nowhere with that kind of play in the long term. but i likes this W . We have an outrageous calendar. Every team can defeat us . See what the Browns had made to the champions with an outstanding OL. Now check CJ 81 against Arrington. And nuff said about Jets, Stealers, Dolphins... All really good teams from right now to week 17

No it is not CRAZY! We have come to expect a certain level of play from the Patriots and especially offensivly..

However I would point out that @ SD is always a challanage for us and TB! And I personally feel good about getting a win on a day we didnt play so good.

The two BIG plays that frustrated me the most was;

1. Going for it on 4th and 1

did that feel earily familiar or what?? Last year I supported BB decision going for it and still do. Manning had been driving down the field on us and personally.. I still think Faulk made the 1st down! But a game like today where defense play pretty well and SD was making a TON of mistakes I say Punt!!

2. Allowing an onside kick when you KNOW ITS COMING!

The odds are so slim of executing an onside kick especially one that you should be expecting?? Its totally a situational play, the kind of play a BB coached team is supposed to be prepared for.. No excuses for not stopping that!

with out these 2 plays it might not have come down to a FG attempt leaving the game in SD hands!

A win is a win. This game was a lot like the 2003 game against the Giants. That was another game that the Pats had absolutely no business winning, but did.

This Pats team has morphed back into the 2001 & 2003 Pats. Really strange.

our D stopped them in the crucial 3rd down but still SD beat themselves with that 5 yard false start penalty & missed FG. As some one mentioned, when half this board is screaming to look out for the onside kick and the team didn't anticipate it or didn't execute it. It is so unlike the pats that we know of.

Special teams play was very jittery especially the long snapping and the penalties. Hope they calm the freak down and focus.

On many levels this would be a classic instructional thread for the practice squad...if we really utilized that forum...

The only thing that's crazy to me is that the Patriots are beating top teams in close games sometimes on the road -- with SO MANY YOUNG PLAYERS in key roles. That's crazy.

These are good wins we should all be happy. Especially in games that were expected to lose.
But yes i wish we could have done a better job capitalizing on those turnovers.
What if thay moved vollmer and light.

Just in case some of you forgot the superbowl patriot squads had many "ugly" wins. I can name 20 games right now that could easily be named "ugly", edge of your seat games. I think the moss era made alot of people spoiled. Give me an ugly win anyday. I'm glad this team is showing fight. last year this team would have lost this game. fortunately WE WON.

I think folks here are being a bit hard on the OP. I understand his point. As badly as the Chargers played at times, it seemed the Pats were determined to play down to that level and let them remain in the game. It got quite frustrating with the extra-soft defensive strategy in the second half compounded by the onside kick, then the fourth-down failure. Had the game gone into overtime and we'd lost, BB would've been roasted. The Pats were bailed out by the Chargers shooting themselves in the foot once more, missing that field goal at the end.

I enjoyed the win.

I did not enjoy the heart palpitations the Charger's comeback caused me. I did not enjoy how our offense looked real bad. It makes me nervous that putting a lot of guys in zone coverage close to the line of scrimmage messed up our offense.
