Is it me or do you guys feel that this is a must win game on Monday?

If they lose this game then the Jets and Dolphins will Both be 3-1 and the Patriots will be 2-2 essentially 2 games behind each of them. I know its early to call this, but I feel that if they win this game they go to the playoffs. If they don't then they miss the playoffs. Simple as that. Anyone else feel this way?

Every week is a must win game ... every division game is more than that.

Are there weeks where we can say it's okay to lose this week?

I'm just saying. If you lose to the Colts or Steelers big woop.... Losing two straight division games to the then top 2 in the division is trouble. This year is exactly like last year. Just make it to the playoffs and SEE what happens. The team could get hot or cold (like last year) I'm not expecting anything this year and making it to the playoffs should be the goal for this team and this board here on out.

A must win game is a game that you face playoff elimination.

Or in the Colts case a must lose game to avoid the pressure of making history.:D

This game is important to be sure but not a "must win", IMVHO.

Figures you will probably be deluged with responses regarding the semantics of "must win," but I'll play along and agree with you.

I find it hard to believe the Pats can start off 2-2 with losses to the Fish & Jets and end up winning the AFC East. Certainly it's possible and not without precedent, but considering they have a brutal stretch coming up post-bye, this is as close to a must win game as you can have in early October.

Heck though, I'll just settle for the team not blowing a double-digit second half lead on the road for a change.

We lost to the Dolphins & Jets on the road last year and still won the divison.

Does it make things a lot easier? Yes. Is it must win/season is over if we lose? No.

considering i expect the dolphins to win the game , and i think the pats still have a chance with 12 game left after that i think no...

No i don't think so, back before the season started i think most people would say if we were 2-2 after playing these four teams they would take it. 2-2 is the Worst we can be.

He spent the off season hydrating so he's good through the playoffs.

Well if you break that down, it's 3 teams with a losing record and 3 teams with a winning record.

With 2 of the winning teams coming to Foxboro.

Now, after watching the game last night, I think we have a darned good chance of knocking off the 'phins. I consider our loss to the Jets as a fluke, and not likely to happen again.

Yeah, aside from Cleveland, that is brutal. This game? It's an important game, but not a must win.

Given the current records of the three teams involved and how much time is left in the season, I would say no. If the Pats were 1-2 right now while the Jets and Dolphins were both 2-1 or better, then it would be much more important.

Before the season started I though the Pats would split with both teams, with the losses most likely coming on the road. I don't recall anyone thinking at that time should that happen that the season would be all but lost at that point; if it does indeed happen next week I wouldn't consider the loss to be a horrific, season-altering event either.

Though I am sure that if the Pats do lose next week, we'll be sure to have multiple threads declaring just that, that the season is over.

Given our schedule, i don't know how anything less than 3-1 for this relatively easy stretch, can be viewed as acceptable. So, a crucial game it is, from this vantage point.

Depends on your goal. Personally, I found it more satisfying to see steady improvement and development, and go 11-7 without making the playoffs than see a lack of toughness fester all year but still win the division and make the playoffs only to get demolished in a historically embarrassing performance in the playoffs. So for me its just one game at a time with this team.

Yes its a must win considering this team's schedule.
