Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

Oh don't worry he's just going to ruin their team chemistry and the jets will struggle to win 8 games this season:rolleyes:

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

A SB MVP 2 years ago for a 5th round draft pick

Steal of the century

Pretty much. Gotta respect how aggressive the Jets are being. Good for them.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

You almost have to feel the Jets will do something to move up in the draft to keep digging away,I don't know what leverage they have but they will do something on defense, probably at Safety.

What makes these moves even more impressive is that they are getting quality players who are young.

Taylor is a 1 to 2 year move, but this guy is hungry, and is still in the upper echelon of the league at his position and what he does, he would be a situational player with the Jets as a pass rusher.

LT is younger than the guy he's replacing, and fact is, the Charger offensive philosophy changed the last two years, LT hurt his foot and then ankle, he is reunited with a coach who knows him and who he flourished under, LT is also a player hungry for a championship.

Holmes for a 5th? Christ that is just a steal.

Personally, I have to wonder why the Steelers were willing to trade him for so little. . . .

I'd still take Moss-Edelman-Aiken over Holmes-Cotchery-Edwards....but not by much.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

There is no way Jets can possibly become better and ovecome the pats. It's not like they were capable of competing for AFC title.
Even if they got Boldin, Brandon Marshall, Jason Taylor, they are still unworthy of competing against Pats. BB is such a good coach he could beat Jets with the BC squad. Plus he will have the super weapon Tebow, which he may draft in the 1st round. Tebow alone is better than Holmes, Marshall, and Taylor combined.

In BB you trust. Wait, what's that sound? The window of opp being closed by BB the GM.

Comparing Adrian Peterson to Cromartie? LOL! I was on record when the Pats were rumored to be trading for Cromartie that I thought he sucked. So the only translation is that I think Cromartie sucks, but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that he could rebound in the Jets' system.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

Sexy Rexy sure isn't afraid to take chances.

What the hell is "sexy" about that fat bag of lard? Do people call him "sexy" because it rhymes with his first name? Call him Jabba Wrecks. His Green Beans are well on the way to becoming Raiders East.

1.) The Jets made a nice trade for Holmes. It's an excellent move.

2.) When the salary cap comes back into the NFL, the Jets will be dumping players like a plane shot in the tank dumps fuel.

3.) LdT is younger than TJ, but Jones has been the better running back for a couple of years now. And LdT's ailments have been a wounded vagina and a bruised cervix.

4.) Taylor's not on the Jets as of now

5.) The Cromartie deal has boom/bust potential, and could have a lot to do with how well the Jets fare this upcoming season.

The Rooney's probably feel a cancer growing on the team with a problem child like Holmes so dump him quickly...either that or Rexy gave Danny Rooney a .......

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

He was a pro bowl CB his first two years in the league and was once considered the best young CB in the league

Defensive philosophy changed the last two years, the Chargers played more zone and played less pressure up front due to injuries

Cromartie is a perfect fit in Rex' system, Rex loved him coming out of college, and said Cromartie had the best workout of any CB he's ever witnessed

I think Rex is pretty competent about evaluating defensive talent, wouldn't you?

Your posts sound are pure sour grapes and envy

Cromartie was a Pro Bowler for his first two years? The guy has 15 INTs. 10 weere in his second year, 3 were last year, and 2 were in his third year. So that means he had zero INTs in his rookie year. That is Pro Bowl material if I ever saw it. Fact of the matter is Cromartie had a great second half of the season in 2007 and has had 3 1/2 mediocre to average years.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

Great deal for the Jets. Worst case, they throw away a 5th round pick.

Good thing the Jets have Sanchez leading the way, else I would be a little concerned. Not that Sanchez is terrible, but he still has plenty to learn.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

It's a great move for the Jets. Anyone who doesn't think that is either ******ed or in denial. They are significantly better on offense now. I guess if you want a bright side for the Patriots then look at it this way. The Steelers are worse now.

Usually (or often) trades like this have some conditions attached to them. Let's wait a day or two to get a fix on the terms, it may turn out to be a 4th or a 3rd - which for the Jets would be okay because it means they're playing well. Iny any case, they've upped your talent level at WR considerably (even if it's only 8 games .... plus the playoffs).

OTOH, Ray Lewis isn't in the Jet locker room, so if they go 'cold', it'll be nasty in there. As for renting him, since he's in a contract year he should play well. It's a steal, most likely.

Pittsburgh will adjust, they always do.

Until Welker returns, or the Patriots find a WR1a, the Jets wide receiver corps will be much, much better than what New England's got out on the field. It's not even close.

Of course, a suspension of Holmes could lessen the number of games that gap exists.

Dumbest post of the year.....this post makes Ramon seem like a fan favorite here

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

They're being aggressive, you have to give them credit for that. However, the personalities they are adding could blow up in their faces.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

He went for a 5th? A four game suspension isn't nothing but there must be more going on with Holmes than we know about for no one to be willing to give up more than a 5th for him. There are plenty of teams that don't care about character (Raiders, Bengals stand out to me) and they still only got a 5th for very good receiver? Wow.

I am officially getting worried about the Jets. Like it or not they now have a lot of weapons on offense and defense. If Sanchez only sucks half as much as he did last season, and it would be hard not to, they are going to be a real competitor in 2010.

Now I still think we will be able to beat them twice, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if we have a couple of real battles against the Jets next year.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

Good move but this will make the Pats beating the Jets next season that much sweeter. :)
