Brady defends Moss...

What did anybody expect Brady to say?

"Yeah, I know Randy's a hyper sensitive prima donna, but I think I'll call him out for dogging it anyway. I mean, if I don't call him out, maybe there's a chance he'll decide to show up for the rest of the season, but if I do call him out I know there's no chance in hell he'll show up, so, yeah, I think I'll call him out."

Would not be suprised in the least if there was a "good cop/bad cop" dynamic with Brady and Belichick in their collective handling of Moss.

I do agree that there will be the regular critiquing during the film breakdown session. Pats will use this as a "teachable moment"-:p

Why do you guys think this is black and white? If there was any truth to the idea that Moss was quitting on his team, Brady would NOT, 100% would NOT, have defended him the way he did. He would have generalized and avoided the questions.

He flat out defended Moss, so did Faulk, and BB basically told Gamble to shutup and keep losing

I think that's going a little far. This is being way overanalyzed. There is no glass-like ego that they are trying to carefully reconstruct here. He had a bad game, they'll all go to the film room and practice and focus on the Jills. He'll come out and have a great game, and then everyone will attribute it to them babying him. People will probably say BB cancelled meetings and read him bed time stories all week.

I don't think it's that simple. Moss has not performed up to the team's expectations or needs for 4 weeks now and Belichick needs to find ways to get him going. Moss is a pretty sensitive fellow and up until recently, BB has been pretty effusive in praising Moss- deservedly so. However, that type of treatment has not translated to production on the field.

Still wonder if Moss is hurt, and the back injury keeps him from moving easier... but we will never know that.. he looks like he is playing "stiff"...

This is probably the issue that's being most ignored. Given how injury info is handled by the Pats, there's a pretty good chance that Moss is still dealing with something significant health wise.

When it comes to the Patriots and the injury report, it's likely that things are actually a bit worse than what's made public. Moss has been missing several practices over the last few weeks, so that should indicate he's far from 100%.

I'm sure making that known to opponents is the last thing BB wants to do. As has already been pointed out, I just can't see how Brady, Belichick or anyone else would be willing to come to Moss's defense if privately in that locker room they thought he was dogging it on the field.

He had one bad game, and a few so-so games. He has overall had a positive impact on the Patriots offense in all 4 of those games still. There is no "effusive praise" as a motivation effort to get him to perform. This is taking tiny tiny pieces of information and extrapolating them to fit pre-determined idea you have about a player and his being sensitive.

Wayne has had a few so-so games and so has Fitzgerald this season, but it's OK for them because they aren't sensitive right and aren't dogging it.

You are absolutely right, they just would NOT do it. But it doesn't follow people's beliefs on who Randy is so people just work around it or ignore it. It's quite sad

Not an idea- It's fact based on 10+ years of his career. If there is a situation that Randy is not happy with, he mails it in. Based on his preformance after the Indy game, his overall performance has been spotty to below average. Not sure how you can't see this. Being late for a team meeting does not help his case. Add them all together, including his dog-show yesterday and you have reason to be suspicious about where Randy's heart is.

Wayne has had a few so-so games and so has Fitzgerald this season, but it's OK for them because they aren't sensitive right and aren't dogging it.

And up until this point in their careers they have no quit on their teams.

This is incorrect, and all stems from an out of context quote.

Neither has Moss, but continue to believe that. Just don't say a word when he tears it up in Buffalo.

...

I just don't see that at all, at least in any organized fashion. It would be very risky if exposed and demeaning to Moss in any event.

Whatever you say, Randy.

I don't how you can know that "Brady would NOT, 100% would NOT, have defended him the way he did. He would have generalized and avoided the questions." That is pure speculation.

As to whether Randy is dogging it, a lot of normally rational and very knowledgeable observers in Patriot Nation and across the country seem to have concluded that he is doing so based on his recent play.

They wouldn't do it for just anyone, but I would fully expect these guys to do nothing but defend a player of Moss' stature who has made such significant contributions to the team over the last three seasons in order to buy him some time to work things out and save face as he does so.

Whatever you say, Randy.

183 Games, 912 Receptions, 14,275 Yards, 650 First Downs, 144 TDs

Only twice did I not play full 16 games.

It's a shame that all these other guys who don't quit on their teams can't put up numbers like those. I mean for the number of times I've quit on my team and haven't tried, I've done pretty damn well.

Maybe if I ran to the media like Thomas, they might have better things to say about me.

Very. I think there is already a high-amount of risk w/ Randy in how they have handled him. Can't get much worse IMO.

Speculation? You mean like speculating that Randy is a turd who is mailing it in? LOL. Why hasn't anyone spoke up for Thomas? Ya know, just defend your teammates for the hell of it?

I don't blame them completely, they have had this idea of Moss drilled into their heads since he made that comment that was taken out of context. Since he doesn't speak to the media, they were free to portray him however they wanted without losing any sort of special access or quotes.

Why would you expect it? Oh you expect it because it goes with the easy idea that Moss is dogging it, OK got it.

emoney-you make good points but you are being way too sensitive on this point.

In his last 4 games, hes averaging 3 catches for 45 yards. As a future 1st ballot HoF, #1 WR, team captain in a playoff drive, that is unaccpetable.

Look- there is no question that BB, TB and the oranization LIKES Moss. He has done nothing to disrupt this team. By all accounts, he has been a good teammate. Don't throw out stats. Thats poor.

If this team has any shot at a SB, he needs to raise his game. Hall of Famers do that.

Red Herrings that don't directly address my critique that your comment on Brady is pure speculation. And as for Thomas, he hasn't made the contributions to the team that Moss has over the last three years and he is not a (possible/likely) future HOFer. I'd expect Randy to get a different kind of treatment from his teammates.

I don't blame them completely, they have had this idea of Moss drilled into their heads since he made that comment that was taken out of context. Since he doesn't speak to the media, they were free to portray him however they wanted without losing any sort of special access or quotes.

Fair enough. But many observers disagree with you.

Why would you expect it? Oh you expect it because it goes with the easy idea that Moss is dogging it, OK got it.

Don't know what that means.

Pls see above.

Mo

It appears you need some downtime also. Step back, take a breath and relax.

This mirrors the Baltimore game where one first half roughing call becomes a national obsession.

It's amazing a team can win a game 20-10 and the talk of the industry is the poor play of one player on the winning team.

+1. And people wonder why Moss generally doesn't talk to the media and even lambast him for it. People need to get a clue that these mediots are grasping for a storyline here, nothing more.
