AFC playoff predictions: Patriots won't be a part of postseason action

After two losses in a row and three in their last four games, the Patriots have taken on the unfamiliar look of a team in crisis. Their defense has been atrocious and their offense looks out of synch. The fact Bill Belichick felt the need to deliver a stern message to his squad by sending Randy Moss and three other players home for being late for practice Wednesday is troubling because it indicates a lack of discipline rarely associated with the perennial Super Bowl contender. The last four games are winnable, but the way the Pats are playing, it might not matter.

Prediction: The Patriots are unraveling. Look for Miami to overtake them for the AFC East crown and force them to watch the postseason for the second year in a row.

Prove him wrong, boys.

Our destiny is in our hands............ We'll have no excuse if we don't make it in.

He's really just hedging his bets. With all that's happened this week, this could go two ways. The first is that this could blow up and the team, probably minus Brady, Welker, and a few others could quit. The second is that BB takes full control of the team and it rises to the occasion. If you've seen my post in the "predict the score" thread, you'll know which direction I think it will go, though I do not think it will cure our defensive woes. But I think, behind Brady, the offense is about to blow up.

On top of that, I can't see the Dolphins getting through the rest of their schedule unbeaten. I could see us doing that.

Pats will make it. Question is whether it'll be a one-and-done.

Doubters and naysayers will motivate a team with character, but how much character do the 2009 Patriots have?

Oh, we'll probably lose in the second round. But we'll make it in.

jets are a bigger thread than miami. miami has to play @jax @tenn and pitt. but miami has a lot of heart for sure.

Well then, I think you've just come up with our answer. Our team needs to see the Wizard, and find itself a Heart!

You mean the Jets that are starting Kellen Clemens at quarterback and got swept by the Dolphins?

The Pats and Phins have similar remaining schedules in terms of difficulty. With a one game lead I would give the edge to the Pats. Yet, I would not be shocked if the two teams ended up with the same record and it goes to the tie breakers.

It would be an embarrassment to the Patriots organization if the "No-Name and Faceless" Phins with Henne at QB win the division title two years in a row. If last year's excuse was that we did not have Brady then I guess this year's excuse will be that we had Brady.

their defense is always decent. plus they play tampa /indy/atl and cincy with indy and cincy possibly already clinched. polian might even throw the game like he did once against the titans to let jets make it interesting.

Nah, the Dolphins are a much bigger threat than they are. However, you do bring up an interesting point about Polian. Maybe some crazy, pissed off, and scorned Browns fan will beat his ass for that one day.

Who cares about these playoff predictions. This time last year, most of these predictions had the Jets as the #2 seed in the AFC with a 8-3 record. Two weeks ago, people had the Pats as the #2 seed.

Presuming that we don't lose to carolina, I believe that Miami wins tie-breakers with us.

I expect the Patriots to win the AFCE. Also, the Chargers still have to face the Cowboys and Bengals, and the Bengals still have to face the Chargers and Vikings, so the Patriots could still end up with the #2 or #3 seed (depending upon tiebreakers) if they don't blow anymore of these "should win" games.

B

I think we make the playoffs but it will be close, our D is not getting to the quarterback at all and that is causing us huge problems, any guy thats decent in the pocket has a great chance against us. Thankfully we only have one of those left to play and thats Matt Schaub.
Garard on his day can be very good so it will come down to the Jags game imo.

One loss and we certainly make it, two and I don't know. Miami and the Jets will lose at least one apiece over the remaining games.

Re: Vic Carucci AFC playoff predictions: Patriots won't be a part of postseason actio

In fairness, I'm certain many Pats fans were feeling the same way following the loss to Miami.

But the Pats are winning this division. The Doofins are still jokes.

Forget about last year, fourteen weeks ago the consensus among the media was that either the Pats or Steelers would win the Super Bowl, and the Giants would finish with the best record in the NFC.

Regardless, I don't see Miami winning the division. Sure, it could happen, but my guess is that the Broncos visit Foxboro in the first round of the playoffs.

Is Brady healthy?
