Second Favorite Team

Throughout my lifetime of being a football fan, I've had various "second favorite" teams. Usually once they hit a rough patch, I tend to lose interest. I can't really say I have a second favorite right now, so I'll phrase it like this: "The only other team I can stand to watch besides the Pats would be Cincy." I'm not sure why (uniforms maybe?) but I don't mind watching them when they are on tv. But other than that I really don't have a real second favorite. It's pretty much all New England for me...

My second favorite team is whoever is in a position to help the Patriots. And yes, that could be one of my 5 most hated teams if the stakes are high enough( but only for 3 hours).
Yeah totally agree although I would like to see the Lions get something going as they are TV each week, unlike the Browns they are take small steps in the right direction.

when i was like 6 i was a big joe montana fan so when the 49ers dont play the pats im a fan of them

#2 the steelers just because you have to respect the way they play the game

#3 eagels i like the way they play D

The Boston Celtics

Sorry I hate all other NFL teams but will watch because i love the sport.

Oh my! What a hard-hearted meanie I am.

I mean, I do have some players outside New England that I like (though they diminished by two when we signed Moss and Welker) and one or two coaches. I had some sympathy for Arthur Blank when he went through the business with Michael Vick -- he came across to me as a decent guy. But a second-favourite team? Just doesn't work for me.

A few years ago I might have said 'Carolina', because I respected the way that they played the Patriots in the Superbowl. I thought Fox was a good coach and Delhomme a good quarterback :)eek: -- see sig!) The best I can do now is a sneaking sympathy for the Redskins. I'm not quite sure why. Dislike of the Cowboys, Eagles and Giants is certainly part of it. Perhaps too (I could be wrong about this) because they seem on a casual look at the TV to have more black fans in the stadium than other teams. There's something disturbing if a team is in a diverse community and the only fans you see in the stands are white. Interesting if true, given the history.

it used to be the eagles....

its now the broncos....

1) Tampa Bay - not the team so much as the Cheerleaders!:D
2) Saints - I think Drew Brees is a really good QB and wish him well. Except vs Pats
3) Buffalo - beats me why, I guess I love an underdog. Again not vs Pats
4+5) cant think of anyone else

1). Chicago Bears -- love their rough-hewn tradition, don't like Lovie, though.
2). S.F. 49ers -- really like Singletary.
3). Seattle Seahawks -- cool city, cool stadium.
4). Baltimore Ravens -- tough team, cool name/mascot.

If Miami wasn't in our division I'd be tempted to include them just because it takes balls and imagination to play their style of offense.

I really respect the Steelers as a great organization and great fan base, but can't bring myself to root for them.

the funny part is dose are the same WR the vikings had last year and they sucked

like him or not favre get's the job done

Yup .... you're right.

since the early 70's my second favorite team has been the Washington Redskins . . . go Billie Kilmer, George Allen, and the over the hill gang . . .

Bills. I pity the city and the franchise and would like to see them win it all if the Patriots do not. Plus, aside from perhaps TO, they have had a pretty innocuous, non-objectionable, group of players in recent years.

My top 4 favorite

1. Patriots
2. Steelers
3. Colts
4. Giants

My family was a Pats-Giants household growing up. I went with the Pats since we actually went to games, but the Giants were always the other team I pulled for. Of course, it never used to matter since they never met in the regular season, but after the Super Bowl...

I've always liked the Denver Broncos because I've admired their ability to be the only team to beat the Patriots year in, year out.

Now that I'm in ATL, I don't mind the falcons winning.

I don't really like or have a second team, although I do appreciate watching good football more than anything.

Green Bay for me. I love the cold weather games, the tradition, the passion, the fact that Favre is gone...Actually, a lot has to do with the fact that my grandfather taught me a lot about the sport of football and he was a diehard GB fan from back in the 1940's. He knew a few local guys who played for the Pack. While he rooted for the Patriots until the day he died in 1995, GB was his team and the loss to GB in the Super Bowl didn't hurt nearly as much because of that.

After GB I like Buffalo, believe it or not. Back when they were going to Super Bowls and the Patriots were blacked out locally, the Bills were on tv a lot. I sort of grew up with them, I guess.

that is a fukd list

What can I say, everything I touch turns to gold. Also been somewhat of a Ravens fan since back in the day, the mid 80s or so...

Same here!

I also kind of root for 49ers and Vikes because of relatives in those areas.

Can't root for another AFC team, though!
