Re: Randy Moss

I love randy but he's a Pus5y. You see him just drop to the ground after he caught that ball in the 1st quarter? Could have gotten that 1st down too. He needs to be a man and fight for YAC and not go down like a feather

moss cant play welker's game welker dose that because he is short and quick and play's low to the ground like a RB so he will not take that big of a hit

moss has a big uper body there is a lot to hit if he try's to go for that one or 2 more yerd's like welker dose he will get a broken rib

and then not only we wont have moss but it will be a lot easier to stop welker's 5 yerd catch's that turn's into 12 yerd first down's when moss is not takeing 2 guys down the field with him on every play

I don't mind Moss saving his body after the catch is made. He's not as fast as he once was, and knows how tough it is to play a full season + playoffs.

People used to criticize Marvin Harrison for this. I guess they should rip Jerry Rice too for when he did it.

Let's cut him some slack. He has been playing with a sore back.

Word. Anyone ever try to play any sport with a bad back, much less taking punishment from NFL defenses?

The first time he took himself out of the game you could definitely see that his back was hurting the sh!t out of him when he got up off the turf. He's a F'n gamer if anything for going back in to take even more hits.

I see this as both a good and a bad sign for the Pats. Age definitely taking its toll on him now and he's in the final year of his contract [right?]. He could be done after this year and TFB is going to do everything humanly possible to get him a ring this year.

There were lot of stupid comments on this board today, but I actually think this one might take the cake. If you think that it's smart for Moss to be letting safeties take free shots at him over the middle, then you're completely missing the point. Keeping Moss healthy is priority B (Brady is priority A)- we need both of them functioning at near-100%.

Aye. A sore back that would have any one of us on the floor all day moaning and groaning. I know what it feels like to have an injury like he did. It damn near crippled me for a few days and I'm in my early 20's!

Nope, he has at least one more year after this one. Moss is far from old- no way he hangs it up after this year.

OK, I agree he won't hang it up after this year if he's physically able to go. Just said it could happen. If you've ever had severe back pain, I don't care how old you are, let's just say it's really hard to play any sport.

Are you nutz? He is the best WR in the history of the game and you want to put Tate in for him; that's crazy. As far dropping to the ground; I think it is the smart thing to so. No way I want him crushed one play after another. Guys who can get to the ground quickly like Faulk or Moss have some staying power. Why make some DB's day and give him free shots. Faulk and Moss must be incredibly fustrating to DBs because they cannot (usually) get their pound of flesh.

You are sounding like Jerry Callahan or Freaking Felger; mean-spirited and ill-informed rants against Moss.

Moss is a highly-intelligent hard-working supremely skilled player. The best player that the Patriots have ever had or arguably second to Brady and cretins like Felger want to get rid of him. Felger also wanted to dump Ben Watson! Don't be a Felger.

I love it when a guy with a keyboard resting on his beer gut calls out football players.

WRs who fight for extra yardage are doing no one any favors. THey get hurt and then what good were those 2 extra yards every other catch.

Even guys like Welker don't really fight. I you notice, he squirts and dives.

WRs who have two guys breating down their necks need to drop to the ground so they will be here come playoff time.

You realise he's been playing with a back injury don't you? Knowing how aggravating a back injury is in every day life, you go play elite level sports with it.

Idiot.

Re: Randy Moss

Looked like his left shoulder to me ..... he had trouble raising his arm.

As someone whose back is killing him right now, I can't imagine playing football like this. The (uncalled) horse-collar tackle early in the game didn't help and that (uncalled) late hit near the end was a killer. He only played a couple more plays after that.

There were several uncalled penalties in this game. On top of these uncalled hits on Moss, Welker got hit late by two guys. Clearly the Bucs' secondary was told to try and beat up on Moss and Welker.

That horse-collar tackle should not have been ignored. It was right out in the open and it's supposed to be automatic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSGw0C__RZI - 56 seconds in.

Refs are getting worse every year, and yesterday's crew was a prefect example. There is supposed to be a focus for officials on offensive holding this year, yet Vince Wilfork practically has his shirt ripped off on just about every passing play, and half the runs, yet it's hardly been called all year. It's pretty clear that NFL officiating has an agenda, and it sucks ballz, big time.

At first glance it looked like a horse-collar, but I changed my opinon after seeing the replay (I think they showed it slow motion during the game). It appears as though he slowed him down a bit by grabbing the back of the jersey without actually pulling him down by it. Then he sort of pushed him to the ground. It was borderline, and certainly could have been called, but I'm not convinced that the call was incorrect.

I think the tackler changed his play to avoid drawing a penalty, which was the right thing to do. It may have merited a penalty, but it certainly shouldn't be a fine.

Yea. He is on the injury report with a bad shoulder. Then he took 2 shots right to the arm (the second one looked like a fineable penalty, but I digress) and was in pain. I think he'll be fine though. He'll have 2 weeks to recover and he was shaking hands with the team after the game with that same arm.

Except it wasn't a horsecollar.

A horsecaller requires you to pull the gun down backwards while falling on his legs. Not pulling him down by the side. It requires you to have your hands INSIDE the pads. Something the DB didn't have.

People used to criticize Marvin Harrison for this. I guess they should rip Jerry Rice too for when he did it.

The big thing with Harrison and Wayne doing this is that they were almost never hurt because of it. I want Randy sliding as long as it keeps him healthy. A first down isn't worth losing an elite WR over, especially when its not third down and its against a team we should kill.

That definition is incorrect, it has nothing to do with falling on the players legs.

A Horse Collar is a maneuver in which a defender tackles another player by grabbing the back-inside of an opponent's shoulder pads from behind and yanking the player down.

That wasn't a Horse Collar tackle, he did grab him by his shoulder pads, but pushed Moss forward/sideways, didn't pull him down, which he would have had to do to have a Horse Collar tackle called.
