The locker room

He kind of gave me chills the first time I heard that - not just the words, but the tone of his voice. He didn't sound like a rookie at all. It also cracked me up that his "Draft Party" consisted of raking leaves with his mom :D

Me too. I also liked his constant use of the expression "to be honest". I involuntarily use that alot also.

That was cool. I remember that when he first said it.

The real leadership change this year, ironically, is going to be the quarterback. Brady has to take control of this team more than ever...more than Cassel had it last year. The key this year will be Brady and no one else.

I have to admit I'm wondering who Brady will be this year, what with the knee rehab and married to Gizelle (I know I'd be different) . I have much respect for the greatest QB of all time and I know his past performance was awesome, but no one in this league- especially in New England- gets paid on the past. Not even Tom Brady. There! I said it!

Wilfork I can see. I don't picture Seymour as a guy to keep the guys around him in check and focussed on T-E-A-M. But I could be dead wrong.

Yeah... you got a bad read on Big Sey. If you listen to his weekly interview on WEEI, the guy oozes LR leadership.

The locker room is probably going to be less fun than before. Vrabel's humor, Bruschi's charisma, Rodney's fire, Willie Mac's flash and sarcastic humor, and Junior's passion are gone or on the way out, and only the T-shirt-designing Thomas seems to have replaced that flair.

Brady will be back, as will Light's sophomoric prankster vibe. Even so, if we're looking to guys like Wilfork and Warren to fill the void, or the moody Moss, it seems like things will be a little grayer than they used to be.

The leader of the secondary last year was James Sanders. I expect that to continue. Thomas will be the leader of linebackers. The DL are all vets and are influences to the rest of the team.

There is no issue on offense. They are not being made over. This is very much the 2007 offense PLUS Taylor and Baker!

All I could think of was Zeke Mowatt.

I'm scarred for life.

The way I look it is an object in motion tends to stay in motion....The 2001 core may be getting smaller but guys hopped on that train and learned from them and are now the core and those guys will pass it on. And it all starts with BB finding guys that love football and want to bye in so it isnt hard to keep it going.

Inertia. That's a good way to put it.

The 'locker room' concept is really overrated by most fans, I think. These guys are professionals who earn more than most small businesses, what some guy getting undressed next to you thinks isn't important.

...unless that guy has the pull with the organization that Tom Brady has.

There are certain guys in this league, Brady, Manning, Lewis-guys who are the undeniable face of their franchise and who pull more weight than the average player.

And if those guys are focused on winning the rest of the locker room will be too because THOSE guys are the ones who can actually have a hand in whether or not you are on the team next year and your next gig or contract might not be anywhere near as good.

TO didn't have anyone like that in Philly or SF or Dallas. He'd have it here. I'm not saying he wouldn't have his emotional issues but God DAMN I'd love to see him playing for this team because the man is a competitor who really wants to win.

But what does he want more: To win or to be the man? Because he's been in winning situations before that he's destroyed because of his ego and immaturity. That's why I don't want him here.

I agree with your overall importance of the locker room issue being overrated by many.

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the diagnostic classification system used in the United States, as "a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and a lack of empathy." [1]

The narcissist is described as turning inward for gratification rather than depending on others and as being excessively preoccupied with issues of personal adequacy, power and prestige.[2] Narcissistic personality disorder is closely linked to self-centeredness.

yep. Anyone who thinks he just cares about winning should go look at his Philly days. They were in the SB, and instead of making a run the next year, he turns into a baby.

As Fitzy would say............. HEY T.O. , GFY !!!:D

Once you start reading the bios and researching the youngsters BB has brought onboard, you keep finding community volunteers, academic all conference, church volunteers, etc. Frankly PJ, reading the bios of Patriots' players (and I'm talking the kids, not the crusty old vets) you find yourself with an overwhelming belief in Intelligent Design...should you find yourself a little unsettled again, go read Titus Adams' bio, or Matthew Slater's or Bo Ruud's, or...

That's really good to hear. Maybe I'm pyschologically stuck in 2004 and I need to update my familiarity with the young fellers.
