Eagles trade WR Lewis to Patriots

Yeah and he caught that late TD against the Pats in Super Bowl 39 that made it a 3 point game.

I think he'll end up being a decent 4th receiver and special teamer/returner. The Pats have a pretty good history of taking average WRs and turning their career around over the last few years.

Ya, #12 has a way of making WR's look good. Having D's worry about Welker and Moss doesn't hurt, either.

lets wait for the terms before trashing anyone. remember ,we had doug g and reche caldwell at one point .brady made them look good. including gaffeny for that matter.

"He went to the University of Illinois as a walk-on. Lewis signed as a undrafted free agent with the Eagles in 2003. He has been known for his speediness but has not been able to make a major impact in Philadelphia's crowded receiver corps."

Ummm, I didn't know Eagles HAD a wide receiver corps?

The trade better be for (only) vet minimum , a low 2nd day (conditional) draft pick and a box of Doritos.

If they want salsa on the side - thats got to cost extra. (then No Deal).

They got him for a conditional draft pick.

Pioli leaves, and our entire Front Office thinking breaks down.....

:D

Moss' 2007 season was better than this guy's entire career.

I think if you sliced a third off of Moss's '07 stats, they would still be better than his entire career. :D

I heard he returned kicks in Philly, too. Maybe he's brought in to be a ST'er and #4 receiver, have him run some deep fly patterns each game. I'm sure the compensation won't be much.

I guess the Pats see Lewis as a stretch the field guy. 13.4 YPR average. Initially this move does look underwhelming though.

The Eagles must really like Desean Jackson to feel good about cutting loose a speedster. DJ looks to be one of the best receivers to come out of that year's draft and they got him in the 2nd round too.

Moss' 2007 season was better than this guy's entire career.

When you compare everyone to Moss, almost everyone sucks.

Depending on the pick, I don't see a downside to depth/competition at WR, KR, and ST.

He had 4 receptions for 88 yards and 2 TDs against the Pats in '07, maybe they saw something they think they can take advantage of.

Also caught a TD in the SB, I believe. Still, not a good sign when he doesn't get playing time on the Eagles with their crappy receiving corps.

Doritos come in a BOX now!?!?!?! And you want to trade them?

IMO, Lewis has NFL skills, like Gaffney, but he was on a team that didn't really get the ball thrown his way. Just think that McNabb couldn't stay up-right and when he could, the ball was in Westbrook's hands.

The eagles have tried virtually every reciever ever, one has to wonder if the reciever is the problem???

Depth at WR, that's all. My money says he doesn't make the team. Still this organization is always trying to get a burner out there (Bethel Johnson, for example.) I think the theory is they run him deep the speed threat opens it up for the rest of the guys; this worked well with Stallworth, but Lewis is not Stallworth and hasn't really proven anything in his career. Little risk, small to moderate reward.

Man, I got NO idea who the hell this dude is. However, He is now one of my top 53 favorite players in the NFL. :)

Until he drops a wide open pass that should have gone for a TD, huh?

so we're not signing TO now?

Its a conditional pick. And it probably won't be paid until 2010 at that since its probably based on Lewis' performance with the Pats.

My guess is that it can become a 5th at best.
