Don't they have a pretty good vet back-up in there, though?

I think Nick Eason is his back up. I don't know much about the guy other than he did nothing in Cleveland and never made it in Denver because of an injury.

Moore is Parker's back-up and many people wanted Moore to sign here in New England to be the new Kevin Faulk.

Nope, no veteran backups, no gamers. Just Eason, Kirschke, and Chris Hoke.

Keisel's not mind-blowing to begin with, but plugging Nick Eason into your DL is kind of like caulking a sunroof with Elmer's glue: after about five minutes sh*t's gonna starting pouring through.

This is a pretty significant loss for the Steelers' defense. Mike Tomlin said he would not play in today's press conference and said that Willie Parker may be out too.

Thanks for the link. Based on the comments in that link, it doesn't appear that the Steeler fans think it is that significant a loss.

I am more concerned about our D than our offense at this stage.

Chris Hoke has played well against the Pats in the past...I think filling in for Hampton. He's no good?

Keisel is a good player. As one of the posters in the the PFT thread said, it isn't as big of a loss as losing Aaron Smith, but I think there is a significant drop off from Keisel to Nick Eason.

Well Matt Light should have easy time with Nick Eason...i a more worried Aaron Simth man handling Nick Kaczur from the 3-4. Aaron Simth has always had good games against us.

Kirschke isn't a vet? Hoke isn't a gamer? Um...ok. And furthermore Eason's been playing pretty well this year.

Kiesel will be missed most on 3rd downs but he was filled in nicely for when he went out for 4 games earlier this year. But none of the group can hold Aaron Smith's jock.

Hoke, Eason and Kirshke are all decent and all vets. Keisel's had a good year, but he's not irreplaceable. It could hurt the Steelers a bit in their run D, but it shouldn't have a huge impact.

I doubt Parker will play. Even if he does they'll spread the carries. I wouldn't be surprised if Gary Russell started to get a few more touches at RB. He's looked solid, especially in short yardage.

I think Holmes is still questionable, which would likely be the biggest blow to the Steelers.

Did he sit out the remainder of the game after getting knocked?

This is a blow to the Steelers because Keisel is very good at attacking the screen plays to his side and getting the RB out of the backfield before he has a chance to make a play with the ball. Hoke is more an inside guy, don't see him running down too many screens. Eason is managable. He'll do ok.

It'll be all about the Dline for the Steelers keeping an open eye on screens and draws while the Linebackers attack the shotgun formation from inside out.

You better pray Holmes doesn't get a chance to run free all day...

Looks like Holmes got moved up to Probable today, so he'll likely play.

I'm confused by your post. These backups are gamers, but they can't hold Aaron Smith's jock (which is true).

In my book, a vet is someone who has started for a number of years in the NFL. None of the above-mentioned players fits the bill.

Hoke's a decent player, probably the best of the three DL backups the Steelers have.

I don't know. Maybe I was ruined by watching Mean Joe Green play. My standards are too high.

It is a loss, just not a catastrophic one like losing Aaron Smith was last year.

No need to be confused, very few 3-4 DE are as good as Aaron Smith. I was including Keisel in that group and he is a starter. I think it is debatable that A. Smith is the best DE in the league with only Seymour entering that debate.

But Kirschke and Hoke are very serviceable. And if you think Eason is terrible you haven't been watching this year.

Veterans are players that have been in the league a number of years, it's not a definition up for interpretation.

If they had been starting for a number of years in this league they would still be starting right? Unless they were declining and in that case give me the young guys, especially along the line.
