Patriots are in playoffs trouble after this loss

After a night to sleep on it, I'm fine.

I hate to use them as an example, but the Giants won the freaking Super Bowl after a 10-6 regular season, and the Steelers won the Super Bowl at 11-5 as a 6th seed. These are the exceptions to the rule, but it goes to show that anything can happen in the playoffs. I just want them to get that far and I'll hedge my bets.

Oh, if they can run the table, that would be sweet. With the injuries, that may be a pipe dream. I'll keep hoping.

What did we learn from the loss?

1- We can't depend on a wounded D to help you win the game.
2- Cassell needs to throw more TDs.

The Jets will slip up somewhere in the division along the way, I feel it.

It's simple. Winning the next 2 games is a must if you want the division or even a shot at the BYE. A lot can change in a single game, so I'm not ready to say it's over. But if we can pull off 2 wins the next 2 weeks, and NYJ slips up along the way, I like our chanches.

Miami is going to beat the Jets.

I really hope we beat the 'phins and the steelers, hopefully the jets will get their due from the titans

If the offense would've scored one more time in the third, it could've been a whole new game. I see a lot of close plays for this team. I honestly feel like they're just beating themselves more than anything.

Agreed. At this point I don't trust them to make a stop with the game on the line.

Its like we play good on defense up until we are faced with a game changing moment and then we choke ....its just sad to me

Colts will win the Super Bowl. I have never seen a team get so lucky in their games. I don't see them losing a single game the rest of the regular season.

i dont know abt SB but they will make the playoffs and are contender IMO

The Dolphins stuck a dagger to NE in the beginning of the season when the Patriots got off to a good start - If they do it again next week then the burial service can begin but until then, nothing has been damaged or dead yet despite the loss

This team CANNOT afford another division loss...period

Beat the rest of our division rivals in the remaining games - miami/buffalo and even the division title might not be out of reach. I think 4-2 is doable for this team. 10 wins should get you into the playoffs, particularly if we beat out miami/buffalo. 11 would be a more sure bet though. No need for panic.

Hurts my heart that we didnt beat them :ugh:

OK here is the breakdown of teams that are in contention:

Jets play @ten, den, @sf, buf, @sea, mia assuming they lose 2 games (say Ten and in buffalo), which given their schedule seems reasonable, they will be 11-5.

Mia plays oak, ne, @stl, @buf, sf, @kc, @nyj. Assuming two losses (NE and @NYJ), they finish 10-6 If they beat the Jets, they are 11-5, Jets 10-6

NE plays @mia, pit, @sea, @oak, Ari, @ buf. Those first two are HUGE. They need to beat mia to ensure that mia doesnt have the head to head tiebreak. Assuming two losses (Ari will be tough), pats finish 10-6

Indy plays hou, @sd, @cle, cin, det, @jac, ten. I can see two losses in here 10-6.

Pit plays sd, cin, @ne, dal, @bal, @ten, cle easily 2-3 losses in there. the game @ bal will likely determine the division. 10-6

Bal plays @nyg, phi, @cin, wash, pit, @dal, jac. Again, 3 losses in there with all the NFCE teams 10-6.

Division winners:
Den (or SD)
Bal
Ten
NYJ (ugh that hurts to say)

Wildcard hunt:
Indy
Pats
Mia
Pit

If we are looking at 10-6, we NEED to have the tiebreaker with PIT. We need to split with Mia and give them their 2nd divisional loss to equal our mark. Similarly, if its the Jets at 10-6, we need help from Buf to give them their 2nd divisional loss. We are already behind the 8ball with 4 conference losses (vs 3 for the jets and mia) and we have already lost the tiebreaker with Indy.

In other words, if we are not 2-0 in our next two games, its going to be very very difficult to make it in.

Obviously there is alot of football to play, but those are all reasonable predictions I think.

Superbowl tickets are already printed, Titans vs Giants.

ugh, that would be a boring game.....

Not only that, but I can't stomach the prospect of a Manning holding the Lombardi for three consecutive years.

Its been a while since a #1 seed other than New England went to the Super Bowl so the Titans are far from a guarantee

I have a feeling another sleeper that gets hot in December sneaks in

I still like New Orleans chances in the NFC if the defense can learn to play better - Brees is an absolute dominating QB in the NFC in most games.

Oh dont worry....I know a guy who knows a guy who will whack him......

it was without a doubt a very important game for our future but i still think we are not yet in troubles BUT we have to win next game in Miami

that is crucial, imho
