Josh McDaniels jawing at Belichick?

But play calling and execution are somewhat correlated.
Why did McDaniels not realize Koppen cannot handle Jamal Williams one on one?

You play call away from your unfavorable mismatches, not right at them.

If you asked Shaq to shoot 3's and your team lost, you would blame the play calling and coach, not Shaq for failing to execute.
That is a poor example...if that's a good an analogy as you can get..it's no argument..

I used an extreme case to make a point but the analogy is the same, sorry you weren't able to wrap your mind around something abstract.

The entire league knows that Jamal Williams is a beast, why call a play that asks for Koppen to take him on one-on-one? Also why call a goal line play running to the right when Kaczur went down and we had a journeyman at RT?

It's like if Bruce Bowen was covering Rondo and you keep calling plays for Rondo to shoot a jump shot; ain't gonna happen. In this case it would be the coach's fault, not the player for failing to execute.

it was the only thing I enjoyed watching.

Speaking for the hetero males here, I really enjoyed the SD cheerleaders. Your tastes may vary. :D

1. Because he has in the past?
2. Isn't that Dante's job ?

BB probably said "What the **** is wrong with the offense?" lol

Then McDaniels said "**** you b****, its your fault for making me play Cassel!"

Then BB was like "All your base are belong to us."

McDaniels "What????"

Casell is the worst player on the offense. Yet on first and goal from the one, McDaniels put the burden on Cassel to make a play three times. How does that make any sense?

THANK YOU! Seriously, what a stupid series of calls right there. The guy is a moron. I am convinced that the Pats would have scored 1,000 more points last year if Josh was NOT the OC.

Dear Josh - news flash. Brady is out for the year. Play call accordingly - you idiot!

:eek::eek: 1,589 points would have been something!

That is close. I am a professional lip reader. After Tivo-ing the exchange and rewatching it several times, this is what was said:
Josh "Why in the name of everything Holy didn't you cut that POS Cassel?"
BB " I am tanking your chance of a head coaching job. I lost Charlie Weis, Romeo, and Mangini, but I need to keep you for next years Superbowl run when Brady returns".
Josh "Bill I really don't think thats fair".

I waiting for some rollouts or quick three step drops to avoid the rush.

I think McDaniels was yelling "You told me not to look at any head coaching opportunities, good advice Bill... now I am screwed. Don't just nod your head, I couldn't get hired to coach Inner Detroit Junior College! Wipe that smirk off your face! A--hole"

JM: Your D sucks and we are sick of playing down by 14 points
BB: It is what it is
JM: Why the F don't we go deep on every play
BB: The OL can't block long enough for a 3 yard pass
JM: Well our whole team sucks right now
BB: It sure does
JM: You need to overhaul the defense
BB: You need to overhaul the offense
JM: I quit
BB: Your fired

Yea I dont think Ive seen a football game that showed the cheerleaders as much as this one... not that Im complaining. They were indeed gorgeous and anything to ditract me from that horrible game was a good thing.

Turns out it was kinda boring.

The Sunday night NBC broadcast drew attention to Belichick walking to the locker room as offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was speaking with him, with the announcers suggesting the one-sided exchange didn’t look good. Belichick was asked if it was anything outside of the normal in-game communication between coaches and replied: “We were talking about the first half and some things we wanted to talk about at halftime and how we wanted to approach the second half. That’s exactly what it was.”

bullsh*t.

That exchange was one-sided and semi-heated. Just a guess here - but I think Josh the Dunce (I can't stand him) was pissed that BB took a knee with 30 something seconds left in the clock and the Pats partially marching down field.

This McDaniels bashing is a little ridiculous. His play calling wasn't the problem Sunday night unless the plays he were calling were designed for Koppen to get knocked on his arse almost every play. People biatch about all the big plays that Cassel blew, but if Cassel blew a big play that was there doesn't that mean McDaniels did his job? It isn't McDaniels fault that what should have been a big gainer and setting up first and goal was negated because Moss couldn't hold onto the ball.

Last year everyone complained about the guy because he refuses to run the ball, but this year it is nearly 50-50, actually 148 run and 157 pass (although last year they did run over 43% of the time which is far less lopsided than his detractors give him credit for). They also complained that he used the shotgun to much and didn't use playaction. Well this year the shotgun has gone down exponentially and the playaction has gone up. People didn't give him a break last year when he has the best QB/WR duo ever and trying to use his best weapons to the optimal effectiveness.

McDaniels still has room for improvement, but all you have to do is watch other team's games to see how he is underappreciated in these parts. I had sit the Jets/Bengals game and watch some of the worst play calling ever. I got tired of predicting what the Bengals were going to do on first down since after the tenth or eleventh time I said "run up the middle" I got tired of hearing myself saying it.

Did you really think it was anything but. The San Deigo crowd were pretty load. They probably had to yell just to hear each other. Belichick gives McDaniels pretty much autonomy on offense during the game. Why would McDaniels be mad at Belichick?
