Should the Pats trade Maroney?

Re: Maroney Trade

Let's see, Morris is over 30, Faulk is over 30 and Jordan is almost 30. Maroney is 23. You might be the dumbest GM since Matt Millen if you accepted trade like you suggested.

worse than Matt Millen ... OUCH!!!

Re: Maroney Trade

I think the team did fine last week without Maroney. Trade the bum. He's made of glass.

Re: Maroney Trade

I would rather extend Jordan than fire Maroney. Maroney is an OK back in our four RB mix. Josh should be able to find him a role. One potential role is kick returner.

The question for me is whether the team is more or less likely to make it deep in the playoffs with Maroney on the team instead of say Eckel. I think the answer is "yes"

I like the idea of having Maroney and Morris for the next three years, and Faulk for the next two. Again the question is whether Maroney adds to the mix or not. I think he does, but I still want a fourth like Jordan in the mix. If we were to extend Jordan through 2010, I think the team would (and should) stop worrying about the RB position.

Like we did after extending Dillon...

I agree. The first regular season loss since Nov 2006, and the worst beatdown in many many years.

It just doesn't get much better than that!!

Space, that loss wasn't because Maroney was out. It was all Matt Cassel's fault including the piss poor play on defense.

Re: Maroney Trade

lets trade Maroney, Seymour, our 6th and 7th rounder to the Colts for Reggie Wayne and Bob Sanders. it worked in madden for me, its gotta work in real life

Re: Maroney Trade

Any way we can add a question mark after the thread title Maroney Trade ? It would help guys like me who haven't been on all day and see this thread title and think Maroney has been traded. Thanks again for another misleading thread title:nono:

Re: Maroney Trade

The difference for me is Jordan. Even if one of them doesn't contribute much, we have three other quality backs, any two of which can carry a 2-man running back offense.

Like we did after extending Dillon...

Re: Maroney Trade

Since more and more teams seem to be employing a 2-headed monster rushing attack, I think Maroney would be a serviceable #2. I think he was fine back when Dillon was lighting it up, and Maroney came in as a change of pace. As a starter though? No way, way too fragile, and struggles when it comes to hitting the hole.

Re: Maroney Trade

Congrats on THE most ridiculous post of the BYE WEEK. Inane.

Really I find a little comfort that there's always someone to fill the "Maroney's Made out of Glass" niche.

Makes for a lot of humor and sometimes an unpaid bet or two. We're almost come to the end of angst over a loss when someone resorts to "Maroney's made out of glass." It's like arguing that your opponent is making Hitler's argument on a political thread. That's when you know the thread is pretty much over.

Re: Maroney Trade

Everyone in New England would have preferred that.

Maroney has started 8 games since being drafted in 2006. He's made of glass.

He couldn't excel even with the greatest passing offense of all-time and the best offensive line in 2007 complimenting him. Now he has Matt Cassel and the 2008 version of the offensive line. Good luck!

Is Bob Sanders a bust he has missed a lot of games due to injury?

When Maroney is healthy he is a good back, sometimes a game breaker.

We are talking about the NFL when 300 lb angry men are trying to hurt you. It's not surprising that a RB get hurts, that's why you develop depth at the position (Morris, Jordan, Faulk).

Maroney isn't a bust or made of glass. He is a very talented NFL RB that has been unlucky.

Re: Maroney Trade

So, we are in fine shape. Maroney is part of our 2-headed rushing attack with Morris. We even have a second lightning and thunder with Faulk and Jordan.

Anyone else want to see this?

We don't need him. We are doing RB by commitee and Morris, Faulk, Jordan would do just fine.

Let's face it. Maroney will never be able to carry the load. Is meant for a 2-back system. Is constantly injured.

Can we just get rid of this guy while we can still get something decent in return?

Possibly a 2nd rounder? 3rd rounder at worst.

no i do not want them to trade maroney

Every week when I see a RB like Barber run amok against the defenses, I wonder why we couldn't get one like him :(

I'm sure that Maroney sees the size of the Cowboys offensive line and wonders why he can't get one like that.
