NFL rules legal hit...

They announced that last night.

Who cares. Seriously, get over it. Unless you want to beat your freakin' head against a wall with this for the next 12 months, it's not going to change anything.

I'm not talking just to you Pats726, but to everyone. This is crap, Brady's out - Cassell's in.

The only question that really needs to be answered is, are you a fan or not?
Who annouced it?? Why does Reiss have it on his block as new??
No it's not changing anything..OF COURSE..just another case of Goodell's BS reign...THAT is all...Just giving MY 2 cents on it..if you don't mind..
I probably have been a fan longer than you...But I agree with your assumption that many will jump ship...

Quit cher *****in crybabies - Its over and Brady is gone till late 2009,Nothing is going to change that, including a fine.

I agree it was a legal hit. My only problem is that I don't see it as any different than Wilfork's hit on Losman last year when he got fined. I'd like a little consistency on the rulings.

Clearly all the NFL cares about is their idiot yokel fans out in the middle of nowhere whose teams flat out suck and can't stand the sight of a northeastern team kicking them in their backwards @ss. So they did this on purpose cause their tired of a Boston team dominating all the white trash teams for the past decade. F(*&() them. F(&*(U& eveyone.

:rofl::rofl:

because it was NOT dirty.

Yes, it was dirty. Just like Wilfork's last year in which Wilfork was blocked into Losman.

Intentional or not, Pollard lunged at Brady's knee even though it was clear Brady was in a throwing motion. Pollard hit Brady's knee. That makes it dirty.

This is horsesh!t by the league and clear double standard on their part.

The NFL has held a double-standard treatment on the Patriots for several years. While they reluctantly accept that the highest rated televised games the last 7 years all involved the Patriots....They would like nothing more than the Patriots to go away...its not going to happen.

It was unfortunate that Brady got hurt, but I saw nothing wrong with the hit. The guy was trying to make a play and get the sack, didn't get it, and accidentally hurt Tom in the process.

It's football, and injuries happen. If we make more rules on how you can't tackle someone, you might as well give them flags and tuck them into the sides of their pants.

Tom will rehab hard and come back strong. He'll be back for the start of the '09 season.

Terry

Seriously... Who CARES if the league fines him 10 grand (The amount Wilfork got fined for his hit, which was worse)? Does it really matter.

And I think the league fined Wilfork for it being a late hit with the forearm, not because it was low. This hit was not late. And even if it was, if you fine the guy 10 grand, it means absolutely nothing. NOTHING! No sense crying about it.

Unwritten rule in the NFL brotherhood.......

"DO NOT LUNGE AT A FULLY EXPOSED FRANCHISE NFL STAR QB WITH HIS KNEES FULLY EXPOSED AND DEFENSELESS'

That stiff, JAG safety has caused more damage to this league than he could ever imagine. It's horrible for the NFL period to not have it's best player. It hurts revenues, television ratings........everything NFL it hurts.

It was bush-league and bogus, the guy knew what he was doing.....

I disagree with this.

Goodell's crew has been hammering the Patriots hard for over a year now and contributing to the troubles. From Spygate to suspending Kevin Faulk (an excellent blocker in his own right) to having a double standard in the treatment of Pollard and Wilfork.

This is effecting the Patriots, and Goodell needs to get checked.

This has nothing to do with Brady. It ha everything to do with Goodell's horrid treatment of the Patriots.

Yes - the NFL purposely refused to fine Pollard because they want to see the Patriots lose. Because, obviously, had the NFL fined Pollard, the Patriots would be more likely to win

While I'm no expert on NFL rules, I don't think this or any other hit where you hit a QB who's facing you below or at the knees should be legal, I've felt this way for a while, not just now.

Belichick compared the Wilfork hit and Pollard's hit in his press conference. Why do you think he did that? He was making a point. I don't care if Wilfork and Pollard's hit are both legal or both illegal, but how about some consistency by the NFL? BB apparently thinks the same way.

A fine is not going to bring Brady back but if the league makes it known that knee spearing is not going to be tolerated maybe it will save another star or Brady in the future from losing another season to a stupid play.

The NFL didn't fine Pollard because they have a double standard going on if you take them at their word regarding the rule. They fined Wilfork last year when Wilfork hit Losman below the knee, even though Wilfork was BLOCKED into Losman by Brad Badger. Yet, when Pollard lunges at Brady's knee and gets knocked down by Morris and then lunges again and HITS Brady's knee, nothing happens?

Come on, I realize you are a homer from some other team but you have some modicum of intelligence don't you?

Chris Collinsworth on NFL Night in Amercia, last night. He said he talked with Mike Pereira, Head of NFL officiating, and they said it was a clean hit.

I don't know why Reiss did not blog it, ask him.

This was not Godell's call, it was Pereira's.

I forgot to bring my Pat's Fan card, crica 1971, to work but I can fax you a copy tommorrow to validate my posts. ;)

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just sick of it. In hidesight - You were reporting a story and I should have thanked you for that, just a little punchy today. It's hard being a Pats fan Atlanta today. I'm taking more sh!t than normal and I can't fall back on my Trump Card - Tom Brady.

I can't argue that. It's true Homerism and I subscribe to that 100%.

My point is to let it be and lets talk football.

Ya know?

Pereira is loathe to second guess his officials. If very rare that he will do that on judgment calls. He's using the contact between Morris and Pollard as the excuse, but aone can see that the contact had little to do with the act.

Yeah I'm still waiting for the explanation on the 140 yards of BS penalties against the Colts last year.

I'm not holding my breath.

Yup. BB said something about where QB's should be hit, and that's between the knees and shoulders. He didn't call it "dirty" and I honestly don't think it was, but just deeming it legal after the fines Vince received plus all the hoopla about it too. Vince was much-maligned after that hit.

They didn't fine Wilfork for violating the rule against unimpeded rushers going low. They fined him for unsportsmanlike conduct - the same reason they fined him for poking Brandon Jacobs in the eye. The fine was because he shoved his elbow out into Losman's knee. (don't give me the BS about "he was trying to break his fall", either - nobody tries to break their fall with their elbow).

But yes, I'm a homer. So are all the Pats fans who've been saying the same thing as me. It's you Patriots fans all pissed about this who are the objective ones. The rest of the world is crazy
