With the plethora of names being thrown around as possible trade options this offseason, it sounds like another QB could be in the mix.

The belief right now seems to be that the Jets could be taking a quarterback with the #2 overall selection and, according to NJ.com, some believe that Sam Darnold could be sent out of the Conference.

During a recent roundtable discussion, four ESPN Insiders talked about what the future holds for Darnold and they believe the Jets will likely consider moving him, with his potential landing spot possibly being Washington.

They believe Washington isn’t expected to get into the potential bidding war for Deshaun Watson or making a move for someone like Derek Carr, and they also believe Darnold won’t cost anything close to what it took the Rams to acquire Matthew Stafford.

“Being a USC alum, I’d like to see Darnold start over in a good environment,” said Jason Reid, The Undefeated senior NFL writer. “Washington qualifies as one. Finally, the franchise appears to have stability within both the football and business operations. With Washington, Darnold would at least have a chance to prove whether it was him or the Jets (history tells us it was probably the Jets). To acquire Darnold, Washington won’t be required to offer anything close to the draft capital it took for the Rams to get Matthew Stafford. Washington and Darnold makes a whole lot of sense.”

Washington Football Team reporter, John Keim, also pointed out that given the fact Darnold only has a year left before his option kicks in, it may be a chance worth taking for a team that’s still in need of a long-term solution.

It would certainly be an interesting move.  Washington already extended quarterback Taylor Heinicke this offseason after his postseason performance, and they also still have Alex Smith under contract through 2022.
